No We March which is good, but no Shhh and Endorphinmachine would have been a shame. . It could easily have been a strong double album, but of course WB would never have allowed that in the circumstances.

I actually think TGE is overrated to but I actually love We March (the activist in me) but Now, PControl and Acknowledge Me are almost unlistenable for me. Don't defend your likes btw. Just two years and already up to 25 albums, wow impressive

Perfect tracklist indeed. What an album that would have been.

As long as Gold and Endorphinemachine were the versions without all the glossy sheen shat on top of great songs. And it would be nice if Most Beautiful was the single version. Also, no goddamn footstep sound effects in Shy, but maybe I'm just getting greedy. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

lol. all these albums that i barely remember. i bet i took that out of the case once.

Don't forget there was gonna be an even larger album called merely The Gold Album. From the 1993 interview with Alan Light. His best interview actually. Made me hard. mmm All you others say Hell Yea!!

ha,that tracklist is too skimpy You removed the funkiest track: "Now"
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Didn't The Gold Album simply evolve into The Gold Experience? I remember that interview with Alan Light and it mentions many of the same songs ("Days Of Wild","Ripopgodazippa",etc) that appears on one of the early configuations of the album.

One of his weakest? Certainly can't agree with that but TGE doesn't stand a chance against his GREATEST albums imo. So I guess it's kind of an average Prince album for me

Here is what the album should have looked like:
1. Endorphinmachine 2. Days of Wild 3. Shy 4. The Most Beautiful Girl in the world 5. Interactive 6. Dolphin 7. 319 8. Shy 9. Gold
I guess you can add Billy Jack Bitch if necessary. The above would have been outstanding, certainly among his best.
Overall, based on the version that was released, i cannot give it any more than 8 out of 10. I love some of the tracks but P Control is one of his most horrid songs, Now is funny but a pretty poor song. I would have removed both of them.

Update yesterday i received Emancipation, listening disc 2 but this is SOOOOO much better than Gold Experience No regrets.

Big fish little fish make a cardboard box. That is Gold right there. Album never translated from live bootleg - all is dead. An echo of nothing through a negative endoscopy, Paisley at its most sterile and forceful, ultimately pointless.
However, the album version of Most Beautiful Girl In The World is the best version of anything.

Without doubt, TGE is a truly exceptional album!
I wouldn't change anything. So much recorded around this time was just great!

One doesn't have to be better than the other. Enjoy them, for years to come, for what they are.

add "Love Sign" and "Hide The Bone" to this tracklist, release it in the summer of '94,and Prince would have had his biggest, most successful album of the 90s.

TGE is one of his best albums. Highly underrated given the PR shitstorm he created at the time. Resulting in no proper marketing & Prince refusing to talk (literally).
The album had 2 top 10 singles a third in the top 20 and, a top 20 EP. - Despite the cheap music videos and the PR shitstorm, the album very nearly had a life of it's own... because the songs were good.

Did you hit your little head? Try obtaining some of the video's or live performances or even the maxi singles from this album hence The Gold Experience. The Eye Hate U remixes are Hot! P's music has to grow on you sometime. Continue to listen my friend. [Edited 10/10/15 15:21pm] klick

I listened Emancipation several times already and i think it's my favorite 90s album. TGE still don't do anything for me. And i listened to it like 5 times. Just wanna listen to 3 songs from that album, not the whole thing.

CD has an awful mix and was WAY too loud. This was when the Loudness War was going on. I bet any amount of money it was Warners idea to make the CD so loud since they insisted certain songs had to be edited.
