Wait a minute! That's one too many Xs... lol

Baltimore is a zero, which makes the whole equation equal to zero. You must subtract Baltimore.

But I never added it to begin with! lol

The fact that Prince released a single less than a month after HitnRun begs the question:

Is Prince going to use Tidal as if it's his dream outlet of music?

Meaning, with Warner Brothers, it is well known he would be sick and tired of promoting his 'old' music because he had already written new music by the time the album was ready to be released.

With Tidal, Prince can streamline new music just as fast as he writes it which is what he's always dreamed of doing!

It would be nice for us 'fams' if he dropped a few old gems from his Vault.

But he probably won't do that without 'touching up' the old vault songs.

In the mean time, lets hope he keeps on streamining new music just as fast as he records it.

He must have struck a deal he is happy with in Tidal.

probably a 'single' for Phase 2, which will, likely, also include 'stare'.

nice enough song. but i'll save it for later, i'm still on Phase 1 time smile

plus, i don't want to overplay it or even listen to it again because if
it's really on Phase 2, it's nice to have the album be fresh as can be,

without having listened to "free urself" and "stare" too often already.

That's what a lot of people who are anti-streaming and anti-TIDAL are missing. Prince is finally free to release his music the way he always wanted to without record company and distribution red tape. No waiting for months for his completed record to come out while his label partner tries to work him in between more commercially "relevant" releases that are a higher priority.

but prince already had that freedom a while back, in fact pretty much since 2000, didn't he?

it's probably fastest to have your own website, like he had 3rdeyetunes.com and he put up
"that girl thing" the day after he recorded it (or so they/he claimed).

i guess with tidal it would take at least a little bit to trickle through the works onto the site.
although with tidal he does reach a bigger audience i guess.

Not with the up-front payment Josh alluded to in one of his interviews. He had that freedom with the Kobalt deal too, but he walked away from it apparently because of the lack of up-front money (at least that's what Funkenberry hinted at in one of his Spreecasts). Also, Prince has shown time and time again that he doesn't have the patience or commitment to run a business long-term. Better to let a consumate businessman like Jay Z take care of that and just pay for Prince to produce his music.

I like how uplifting it is without it being soaked in religion. It seems strange that The guy who wrote TRC seems to now see the world in a manner similar as me. I mean...as an Athiest...these are some the questions I have..and some of the creeds I attempt.

I love the quirkiness of it. Kinda sounds ure floatin in a cloud. Don't laugh... But i see a little cherrub playing a tiny purpleaxxe instead of those tiny harps...lol.

I like how. It bridges from the quirkiness to the soulful sounds near the end...with the music dropping out leaving the vox bare. I didn't suspect that ending with the the song began AT ALL. B4 I heard it..I read someone mention a gospel end. While it's not a gospel end...I wondered how the fuck it would get to gospel from where the first measure started...then I found out...lol. Awesome.

I do have a question... What is up with this third apartment from the sun line. Is that a different way of saying third rock from the sun? Cuz that show instantly pops in my head the second I hear it. John Lithgow and the landlord both....

I gotta say...I would die to hear this live. I can only imagine where it could go with the energy of a live audience behind it.

Well...after typing all of this...I guess I like it a whole lot more that I originally assessed. It's electric, eclectic ,acoustic, soulful and funky all at the same time. That squishy bass strut with the rubber band slide fills....shit like that made me give up bass....I would NEVER have enuff talent and time to invest to b able to sound like I would want to....

It's not atheist. It is spiritual in nature, but things he has said before. This fits with eastern teachings. "Heaven on earth, right here" being present in this moment, no thought for tomorrow, no thoughts for yesterday. NowHere.

3rd apartment from the sun, just another way to say "earth" but with the idea that we are merely renting this planet, we are not permanent residents.

My bad...i wasn't trying to say it was Athiest. It just seems a man who thought he knew all the answers cuz he knew God has questions again...and questions similar to mine.

Talk about addition by subtraction. Far less Josh and far better music. I'd be thrilled if the sound of HitNRun was the fastest "Phase" in Prince's career, and even more thrilled if it leads to an album with the vibe of this track.
