Sadly, the URBAN AC CHARTS has no influence at all on the BB 200. Remember when TCBU was released on radio. AOA was already out of the BB 200, but stayed on the rnb charts. When TCBU REACHED THE TOP 40 urban AC, AOA disappeared from the rnb charts.
When TCBU reached his peak (something like #27 IIRC for weeks) AOA didn't enter the rnb charts again.
It's as if listening to TCBU discouraged people from buying AOA.
The more the people will heard 1000 Xs and Qs, the less they will buy HITNRUN. |

I'm sorry I don't understand your point. My point is that, ranking in the bottom or in the middle of the UAC charts, has no influence on sales, at least concerning Prince. TCBU is the recent proof of that.
Look at the actual UAC charts below :
http://mediabase.com/mmrw...format=U2R
These artists doesn't sell anymore. So they are heard on the radio for a small portion of the population, but this population doesn't buy nor their albums, neither their singles. So, no positive effect on the charts at all, safe maybe for the top 5.
JANET is still #1 with a track that was a flop on the HOT 100 last summer, she will have hard time to sell his new album. |

After 24 years, it's still (and always) new.
Now, be jealous.

I may feel bitter on occasion. But in whole, however, the tears are worth the joy.
B4 my reply, I googled the Marley song/idiom...I replied utilizing the traditional interpretation. There is a spin though...

A sale is a sale, but look a the facts : in 3 weeks, HNR sold only 20.000 ex in the USA. You can call that"nobody". That is very low, even for an independant release. Prince is supposed to be a huge brand. Even here on the org, most of the orgers didn't buy the album. Nobody cares much.
Sales are not lousy for every kind of music, there are thousands album this year that sold better than HNR, with even no promotion at all.
Once again look at the facts : next week HNR will be out of the BB 200, while 1000Xs and X's will climb higher in the UAC. That's why I say that UAC has no effect at all on the BB 200, because it's true. I don't care about rnb or rock fans, even Prince's fans didn't buy the album. |

of course #25 on Urban AC has minimal impact on album sales, that's 164 spins in the entire country and a total audience of just over 1 million people, contrast that with #1 pop song that has 17377 spins and an audiance of veor 100 million people. That doesn't mean there isn't any impact or wouldn't be more impact if he can somehow climb into the top 5 or 10 and even more impact if he could cross over to either the Urban chart or the Pop chart. That's not going to happen without some real promotion.
Also, the song has only been on the daily Urban AC chart for 11 days. This is a slow moving chart, the least amount of time any song ahead of it has been on the chart is 21 days. [Edited 10/8/15 8:33am] |
