THis is for short timers and those who were not faithful over the last 20 years. Any real old school Prince fan would have gotten all of these releases when they were released.

Holy shit.... The War is on tidal! One of my all time favourite tracks of any artist.

Have to say, aside from the track 'June', HitnRun is a terrible album. But the hard-to-find back catalogue stuff on Tidal is great.

Was that cover photo for The Truth ever released before?

Really, The War's up there? Sweet. The fact that Prince actually bothered to make that little oddity available digitally (it was cassette only originally, is that right?) gives me slightly more hope that there might be more rare old stuff coming up in the future. Obviously the Tidal situation is far from ideal for those of us who like to own our music, but a glimmer of hope in amongst all the bad news about the apparent mediocrity of the new album (I haven't listened yet.)

It was released on CD single as well - I have the official tape and CD.

Not necessarily true. These albums might be in better sound quality than the lousy MP3s releases a decade or more ago. I haven't listened yet, but perhaps others have done the comparison. Also, others above have pointed out how there are subtle differences between these Tidal versions and the previous releases in some cases.

Oh excuse me O Great Paisley Priest of the Purple Kult, but even I, Aerogram, Massive Multi-decade Prince Fan, find these fun even though they are somewhere in my vast CD-R collection along with all the songs I ripped from Napster back in the day.

Sound quality may be a little better, I haven't compared.

I've signed up for a free trial with Tidal, but only seem to be able to stream stuff - which is precisely zero use. I need to download the tracks, which I thought Tidal let you do. Has anybody managed to download them?

Even though Tidal isn't super successful, I'm glad some new fans theoretically have access to three OOP Prince rarities. They may not be the best he's ever done, but they're still part of his catalog. Therefore, it's great that they're available for people who want to access them.

Yes. Go into the album you want to download. On the right side of the screen on your phone, below the album art; there's a toggle switch that looks like you're changing a phone setting or something. Swipe that. The album will be added to your download queue. Make sure you change your download settings to highest possible quality first, if you want that.

Ah, cheers for that. I had been using it in chrome on a laptop, but it didn't have that option. Got it down on my iPad now, using the tidal app, but unless I can get the tracks off that and onto a cd or iPod or something then I probably won't get a chance to listen to it anyway.

Are the downloads HiFidelity and without DRM? In other words, can you rip them with the trial period and run?

Nope.

They download within (and then can be played through) the app. You can't actually download an mp3 of the track. Meaning when you cancel your sub, bye bye tracks.

That's what I was afraid of. There's no way I'm going to pay £10 a month for an album, as I already have all of the other Prince albums on there. Hope there's a physical release.

What would it cost to download everything Prince has on Tidal? I have never seen it and I am not interested in signing up for it after seeing a photo of the Tidal staff with JayZ.

Isn't it amazing how tastes differ. While I love Y Should I Do That, the other 3 you list I can't stand. I always found Slaughterhouse to be mostly forgettable.

strange that some albums are missing would be nice to get them all up in one place.

Are there any others missing than: Black Album, Gold Experience, Chaos & Disorder, N.E.W.S., Planet Earth, 20Ten?

PS. Did anyone notice that the hits/bsides has God (Instrumental) I'm sure the CD had the vocal version?

So has anybody confirmed whether or not the sound quality is better? And if so, is it for all the albums or just some? C-NOTE sounds better to me, but I could be misleading myself. When I played Copenhagen, I immediately heard sounds that I hadn't heard before. Then I put my old version of Copenhagen on the stereo, and I heard the same sounds, but perhaps not as crisply. Tidal is on my laptop with computer speakers. My old version is on CD played through an early 1990s Sony stereo with pretty good bookshelf speakers. So my ears aren't going to be able to tell the difference I think.

From what I noticed... Purple Rain, 1999 has improved quality...

At this point Prince probably has the commercial pull of an indie artist. I don't see TIDAL doing very well.
