Just for you rate meisters here is my updated Prince albums lists with marks. All the albums I have listened to with marks out of 100. Does not include bootlegs and a few albums like NPGMC releases I have not heard. . Score indication /100 90+ Classic essential album, every song is great at least and most are masterpieces A+ 80 - 89, Excellent and satisfying album, very worthy addition to the legacy, one or two average or filler songs, most songs are great or classics and these are fantastic albums A 70 - 79, Very Good album, mostly good and great songs with some classics and a few less great jams, a high percentage of albums make this group, ones in the higher 70s are better and solid whilst lower 70s are very average by Prince standards and will have flaws B, B+ 60 -69, Satisfactory, Albums in this group are mixed, higher 60s are generally okay with some good songs and a bit of filler and less good songs, lower 60s are not that great with 3 or 4 decent cuts and a lot of below average stuff C+, C 50 - 59, Mediocre, Albums in this level are mostly meh! with some stinkers and filler, but also have moments of brilliance and some in the high 50s may even have classics, overall these albums are seriously flawed. D, 40 - 49, Bad - Albums that score below 50 are truly crappy, sometimes there may only be 1 good song and a few half decent. Many songs will be undeveloped, bad sounding or plain loopy. Few albums score this bad, E Under 40, Very rare to have an album this bad, basically unlistenable and it may be just muzak or crap. F - Z . The Very best of Prince 85 (A perfect intro album for a newbie, I know its a greatest hits for beginners, but they do choose some of his best singles though) Ultimate Prince Remix disc 80 - Great remixes here. Prince the Hits 1 and 2, - 90, and even better hits collection for a fan who wants more than the very best of, these albums were instrumental in helping me discover his back catalogue.

Thanks for the love, just to let you know too, this rating project started in 2010, when I listed the albums track for track and gave each song a mark out of 10, then added them together to get a cumulative score and change this to a mark out of 100. . It's all quite scientific and some marks have moved up and down over the years. There are a few blips such as me not counting or rating Segues, NPG Operator or Affirmation type tracks, had I rated them, they would drop lower. I think grading albums on a scale of 100 isn't precise enough. I'd have ranked them on 1000 at least.

'Not done by me' is a very common thaught in Science. We are all entitled to our own opinions and grades. Subjectivity is a good thing, with all subjectivity combined we will be able to form an objective grade on each album. And then the story will repeat untill we reach a level of concordance we call consensus. | |

Not really. All subjectivity combined does not equal objectivity.
If you have a group of 500 lit students ranking the best novels of English literature, and only 100 students have taken the time to read and understand a sample of novels large enough to have any credibility, the ranking coming out of the 500 students will be atrociously ill-informed. | |

I could share my data, but need to tweak it, here is a sample of it for you though. . Individual album ranking .

This is Lovesexy, I list each track and then give it a mark out of 10 and then get a whole mark, by adding them together (Total 84 marks out of 90), convert to a percentage - 93.333% and I just round anything up to the nearest whole number, in this case 94.
