seeing and hearing the other albums now available on Tidal, do help deal with the disappointment of HNR Phase 1...i never heard Slaughtrhouse, Cnote or Chocolate Invasion, b4...its nice to at least have access to some new old music till Phase 2...

It would be interesting if someone somewhere grabbed these streams in HD quality. I know there's software that lets you do this. I'm not advocating it and I'm not a tech person so I could never figure it out. But I bet someone will!

Xpectation is interesting - it was only released as MP3 files if I remember right. Hi-fi on Tidal would be the best quality ever released for that album.

Yeah. And this would be the case for Chocolate Invasion, Slaughterhouse and C-Note too...

Can we confirm that these albums are streaming at full quality? The Prince organisation hasn't always done the best job in the past in encoding songs at the correct bitrates.

The most remarkable thing about all this is that for the first time ever we have official cover art for C-Note, The Truth, Xpectation, TCI and TS! Note how C-Note is, in fact, credited solely to "The New Power Generation" on the cover: seems it is, in fact, the 4th NPG album (5th if u count The War).

.

Does anyone know why Cream is credited "Cream (W/O rap monologue)" everywhere? eek

.

Notably on Prince, Still Waiting is still from the CD, the original LP version hasn't been restored.

.

Finally i find it a bit silly not to include Mpslsound and Lotusflow3r as 2 separate albums, when they were originally clearly considered as such.

[Edited 9/7/15 6:27am]

All this artwork was on the 2004 version of the NPG Music Club.

Okay, that's weird. I mean, My Medallion should always have been on there, but when the thing came out I really liked The Dance. While I enjoyed the remake (I loved the screaming about his hair), the sound on the remake was something he'd already done. The original was a different kind of thing, nice in its own way.

Didn't quite know where to put this, but just wanted to clear something up. Namely, if I sign up for the free trial of Tidal by inputting my card details it's not going to take money out of my account by charging me for the non-free month in advance is it? I don't intend to renew my subscription as I'm signing up just to listen to the new album, and I just want to make sure that I'm not going to accidentally be £20 out of pocket by doing so. Can anyone help me here?

Nope.

C-Note, TCI and TS had the CD's artwork itself, not the cover.

There was never an official cover for The Truth nor Xpectation.

It's even crazier than that, it's not just one track being replaced by another it's the original tracklist as such (tracks order is slightly different) eek eek eek

Prince just released the album as originally intended for the 7-CD's boxset! I can't help but wonder if this was done on purpose or if it's a mistake (i.e. the wrong master tape was sent to Tidal by the Prince employee who was in charge of doing it).

Another thing is the original config was known but unheard: could anyone check if by any chance any version differs from the released versions? Length indicated on Tidal slightly differs from the length indicated in Princevault but since my mp3's slightly differ from BOTH I wouldn't say it means anything.

This is fascinating nod

He wanted his masters back didn't he? I think he wasn't doing anythinc because WB would have been making bank and had no reason to give them back. If he does his best to kill everything off they aren't going to make any noney so there's no reason to hold on to them. Maybe.

But isn't most of this stuff what he owned. Because it was after he left WB?

Of course it is, they're speaking nonsense.

Can't speak to the quality but loads of the Warner albums are there, so how exactly am I speaking nonsense? Even though I did say maybe after my supposition.

most if not all those WB albums were on iTunes for years, therefore available digitally.

You were speaking nonsense.

I'm sorry, it's the way it is.

Just noticed that a riff from The War was reused on Let's go crazy (reloaded)

Great to be able to go back to these tracks.

Anyone notice the "Purple Pick of the week"?

It's interesting. I heard somewhere on the net that he might release like a somg from the vault once a week. That may not be true so don't get excited.
But has anyone else heard anything like that?

Yeah well given that Tidal is blocked in India I sure hope all that exclusive stuff will be ripped and bootlegged one minute after it's on the site, starting with those exclusive videos sad

This made my day. Some nice videos, a bunch of songs I haven't had access to for a long ass time, and a not so good new album. Art Official Age was better imo. I'm glad he released an album though. I'm glad he is still trying out stuff outside his comfort zone. But I'm not sure Josh is a perfect match. It sounds a bit too plastic. If you wanna go Timbaland with a beat, why not go to the actual timbaland. If you wanna mix noize with pop, then Kanye does that well no matter what haters say. Or maybe El-P could do some production with him. I'm sure all of these cats would almost work for free, cause they all worship him. But still it's his freedom to choose. I'm just glad he still does it like he wants to. Hopefully he'll really hit the right buttons again.

Yup, it has reminded me there are a lot of gems in his catalogue. Even post WB wink

I find myself really enjoying Xpectation, some of which reminds me of the incidental music in Under the Cherry Moon for some reason. Same goes for One Nite Alone. A beautiful record.

Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse are both underrated. My Medallion!
