We're not haters It's just that when it comes 2 Prince we expect greater If this really were a million$dollar show Then why after the 2nd spin did I say 'no mo'? More Tonka than Mack If it were anyone besides Prince we might cut him some slack! Here's hoping that Phase 2 will bring us what we know he can do [Edited 9/7/15 22:41pm]

All the while he's still getting paid a well deserved million dollar per live show

To little Prince in this album. Maybe more like: Joshua Welton Presents: Prince

I'm glad you like it, enjoy. I don't dislike it and will still buy the physical disc soon as Amazon U.S. has it. I just want/like the despair of Prince best (We Can Funk as example). Peace.

. Tadaa and duh. I already perceived that a while ago. Even in his live shows. But back to the album: Why is this no-name production better than the recognisable Prince production? It is not exciting, new, fresh, interesting, or experimental. It is `contemporary` and therefor easily digestable middle of the road material. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... My head is still ringing from all the bells and whistles added in the production. Not great, but far more gratifying than 20Ten, a large portion of AOA and Planet Earth combined. Lotusflow3r was his last musically adventurous album.

I'm all for contemporary because this is the actual world we live in. To me it sounds fresher and edgier than his usual offerings. Is it a masterpiece? Of course not, but at least he's trying something different again.

i like the sound of the album, but it's generic. Could be any artist. With this album, prince should be no longer allowed to diss other generic artist.
But still.....i like it.

But still.....i like it. Generic, are you sure? I haven't heard the album yet. So Prince doesn't bring anything to the table which sets it apart? Or do you judge Joshua's part separately from the end result? [Edited 9/8/15 0:02am]

that's a personal attack on them and uncalled for.. very immature... act your age, not your shoe-size. yeah, you don't agree with them and they made it clear on their opinion about you. You totally nailed it. I listen to every new Prince album once or twice and then basically forget about it. It's been this way for years. Nothing sticks except a song here and there. I still listen to loads of live shows from his entire career. Black Messiah on the other hand still blows me away after many listens. This new album sounds so contrived. I thought he was better than this. I wish Prince was still releasing mature, forward-looking, complex music like D'Angelo, Van Hunt, Bilal and others. (Hell, I didn't even mention Kendrick because that would just be cruel to Prince.) "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I’m truly baffled at the overwhelmingly negative, jaded reactions. I’ve listened a few times now and I’m humbled at the supreme sonic badassery of this album. Joshua’s production is simply “off the charts” incredible. Looking at the track list and hearing a few songs individually over time and out of context had me convinced it was going to sound like a patchy compilation of unrelated tunes. I realize now how wrong I was. - The remixes definitely belong on the album, especially THIS COULD B US. It blends perfectly with FALLINLOVE2NITE which also belongs (it’s too good of a song to not have a home on an album anyway). But TCBU had me so entranced I forgot I was hearing a remix of an AOA track. - I already knew that X'S FACE was badass, but the way it sets up HARDROCKLOVER now has me blowing up on that one, too...I get it now and absolutely love, Love, LOVE that frickin’ guitar! I stand corrected...quality track for sure, but there’s no way I can listen to it without the gooey, yummy dubstep of X'S FACE first. - Prince’s falsetto on X'S FACE is mighty righteous, too. Hey Joshua…..more gooey, yummy dubstep with Prince’s falsetto please...and while you’re at it throw in some Prince guitar and Camille voice as well. With your production skills I bet that would sound insane!!! - 1000 X'S & 0'S is infinitely improved over the original. JUNE is phenomenal and my current favorite track at the moment. I agree with any other fans that have an “insatiable” desire for more tunes like it. Simply beautiful. - Overall, I’m sincerely floored by this album. I’m about to go listen to it again and I’m certain I’ll be spinning it many more times. Here’s to more sonic badassery from Joshua Welton for Phase II. And congratulations, Prince...I'm not particularly religious but "praise the Lord and Sweet Jesus, oh how you’ve raised your game to a whole other level yet again!"

My wife likes Rita Ora and asked to hear Aint About To Stop, she asked why are they singing about butt plugs. I told her they are apparantly saying 'if you're not a Rita bot you're a blood clot' but I think butt plug sounds better. . After listening again this morning on my way to work the new songs have grown on me a bit. Shut This Down is just missing Tony M's 'jumped on my D.I.C.K' rap. Like A Mack had my head bopping and got some nice horns. June - sounds a bit trippy but I still can't get pasta the pasta. . A 1000 Hugs & Kisses is great, I'm hitting repeat on this. Great vocals and groove. This and Hardrocklover stand out a mile. . The unnecessary Mr Nelson, TCBU, Fallinlove2nite leave a big void so it doesn't even feel like an album to me. It reminds me a bit of NPS - not a real Prince album, mainly consisting of party/dance songs but with 2/3 great tracks.
