I'm just starting in this Purple World and i haven't listened most of his catalog but i will get into it sooner or later. Last night i listened to this song, and ohh such a wonderful song, it's beautiful a little dark sound with spiritual lyrics, I don't know why, but i imagine playin this song immediately after Sign O' The Times (the song). It should be included in SOTT album.

It was recorded months after SOTT was released so it couldn't have been possible.

I had heard it live on the one night alone live album but I think this is one time where the studio version is better than the live one.

It's a very pretty song, and powerful. It would be perfect if not for that silly 'Love is God, God is love' nonsense at the end of it. That's too Mother Goose for my taste.

Anna Stesia is a jem. Over two-&-a-half decades later, it's still powerful.

It's among my top 10 Prince songs (and top 20 ever). The atmosphere is so chilling, and that climax at the end is so triumphant.

I remember the first time I ever listened to Lovesexy. On first listen, a lot of the album went over my head, simply because there's so much to digest.

But Anna Stesia absolutely blew me away. I remember lying on my bed and soaking it all in. What an amazing, powerful song.

Anna stesia holy river last december are some of his most spiritually enlightened music to me

It was not a very radio friendly album plus as shallow as it seems now, the cover was a big issue.

Stay with Lovesexy a while it's an amazing album and very very individual in its sound. I'd love to be able to go backwards in time on his albums. It's going to get even better for a while. SOTT will, I'm sure, take even longer and then Parade, ATWIAD and PR. Blimey, you've got an amazing few months ahead Enjoy

Anna Stesia is probably my favourite Prince song. I say probably because I love so many of his songs but I think Anna Stesia is one of those special songs.

It's so strange, because to my knowledge he has/had never recorded anything remotely similar before or after (music wise mostly, but lyrics to a certain degree as well).

I know a lot of people aren't keen because of the religiousness of it and find it preachy but I don't find it that way at all. I think it helps with the impact of the song. And I'm not religious in any way myself either. It's not every day you get someone who's of such profile singing 'Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above" on their record and putting full belief into what they are singing. And then to get a whole stadium of people singing it too! Mind blowing lmao.

First time I heard it I stopped what I was doing straight away anyway. Just the opening lines had me like

Apart from the killer opening line - a Prince forte in songwriting btw...

I agree,the title track should have been the second single.That song is powerful and danceable."Glam Slam",on the other hand,is a rather uneventful track and should never have been a single at all.

I also think the nude album cover was a mistake.It kept many people (especially heterosexual males) from buying the album.

"Anna Stesia" is an amazing song.....a true work of art.
