When I first glanced at this, I thought it was a Parade-era photo I'd never seen. But then when I started to look at the clothes, it looked more like the Gold time period. The deciding factor was the symbol necklace.

The picture is actually from an 89 photo shoot. Prince wore that style of pants with the chains down the pleats in many pictures in the nude tour book, the scandalous and batdance videos.

His hair is sort of full in top, and tighter to the sides, so that piece just falls from the top.

It COULD be from the Batman era but it just looks that little bit too colourful, IMO. He was going through another 'dark & mysterious' era, then.

I reckon it's from the 'Lovesexy' era; in fact, it's included on a 'Lovesexy' live boot I've got. Hmmm...?!

talk2thejay - You pedant! I was expecting someone to mention that. However, I don't have time to list every single outfit he wore in 1989.

No - that red suit wasn't 'dark & mysterious'. But the GENERAL look for the 'Batman' period was one of dark colours and moody vibes. Just take a look at the picture of Prince in the album booklet. And the 'Scandalous' video - suit aside - is one of his most colorful videos, isn't it??? God, I have to turn down the brightness with all those Raspberry Beret-esque colors!

I reckon the picture was taken right between the 'Lovesexy' and 'Batman' period.

Definitely '89'!!
