3121

I don't know of any other album that is as consistant of 3121 and has the quality of songs such as:

Fury

The Word

The Dance

^ I very much prefer Lotusflower to 3121... LF is much better. 3121 being one of the worst, ever.

But my recent fave album is of course: Art Official Age.. wink

From a personal opinion?? ---- Or a musical/critical opinion... That's the problem with many Prince fans here... They don't know how to differenitiate between personal opinion and critical opinion.

Lotusflower (the single album not the multipack). It's almost a top tier Prince album. Before that, it's The Rainbow Children, which is one P's very best.

All opinions are personal, it's just that some people have more knowledge to base their (still personal) opinion on.

Unlike emancipation and most other post 80's album's, Lotus has two of the strongest post 80's tracks in Dreamer and Colonized Mind. It has the best sound and production than any post 80's album. It has some of the best musicianship and original sound since his 80's sound. It is also the least cheesy post 80's album.

Ironically though, it's paired counterpart, Mnplsound, is the cheesiest, corniest, absolutely worst album he ever released. Isn't it mind-boggling how he managed that?

Musicology

The Marrying Kind / If Eye Was the Man in Ur Life / On the Couch
That's just a great run of 3 songs that fit wonderfully together. I can extend it to What Do U Want Me 2 Do to Reflection all being quite good. Plus Musicology and Call My Name are nice, too.

lotusflower.

aoa is good though, but it needed another uptempo song in that second half,

which just runs a bit too slow as it is.

but both really do feel like actual albums, instead of mixed tapes, which is

how i feel about Planet Earth and 20Ten (and to a lesser extent 3121).

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Critical and personal opinion are the same thing when it comes to art. We can't ascribe objective measures to determine what is critically a great song it's all subjective. The drummer from Rush is considered one of the best technical drummers ever but when I listen it sounds like showing off and not a lot of feeling whereas everyone else says his playing drips with feeling. What makes art so special is that we are all experts in what we consider art. No one is more right or wrong we just have different tastes. Party on lover!

Adorecream

I assume by recent you mean past 10 years or at the very least 2000+, 1990s albums are hardly recent, I was a teenager for most of that decade, now I am pushing 40!

.

In that case, it is Art Official Age, which is just one of his greatest ever albums.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I was about to say that and I'm not being sarcastic either. I just listened to it again and found it very enjoyable. Didn't want to skip anything. And I really cannot say the same about ArtOfficialAge.

V10LETBLUES

AOA is the album where I thought proved Prince had finally gone deaf. Thin tinny with the amateurish production values, nuance and sophistication of a senile bag of rocks with a super low budget.

2. Art official age & planet earth - I like the both equally. I can listen to every song
