I really enjoy all the recent albums, however I have some issues with PE (I mean Planet Earth not Plec) and AOA: to me both have strong structural problems and are inferior to the sum of their parts. So far the Judith Hill album leaves me totally cold, too, but Prince didn't act as a composer in that case, and my opinion could change overtime: it can't possibly be as uninteresting as it sounded to me at first, I have to listen to it again.

I'd say the last albums I loved passionately, beyond measure, were the LF/Mplsound/Elixer trilogy, but I'm really cool with everything else including Musicology, 3121, Indigo Nights, 20ten, Superconductor and PlecEl.

I've recently re-discovered 2004 to 2014.

In retrospect this period is quite interesting. With the exception of Lotusflow3r all of his albums have been song collection rather than conceptual.

I'd forgotten about 20Ten but it really does have some really great songs on it.

Lotusflow3r is great! It's such a musically dark album - but I would have lost the instrumental and added Ol Schhol Company.

During this period, I also like the consistency of having Marva, Shelby, Tamar and Bria on lead and backing vocals.

If you put all the tracks from this period together and play randomly, you'll see what I mean.

Cheers.

A guitar-heavy, live-sounding version of Old School Company would have been awesome..
