Seconded, NYC... I'd seen press about the track but only checked it this morning in the UK so I'm a bit late to the party but Craig Charles is doing the Breakfast show on 6Music this week and next and he had an exclusive interview with 3EG about the 'Hit and Run Album' including snippets of Hard Rock Lover. So I went to here, then SC and then iTunes. The Soundcloud version, despite being lower bit rate sounded the better.
Then again, I've found that an awful lot of tunes sound better when compressed for radio or online.

I FINALLY got to format this song right proper and blast it in my car and it's fucking great.

I hope the whole album sounds like this. It's deceptively simple but throws a lot of odd tricks into the basic structure (distroted voice, time changes), which Prince used to do all the time (When Doves Cry, Something in the Water, Lady Cab Driver) but this feels a bit more organic and the guitar really shines. | |
