A Gold medal for never having listened to The Rainbow Children there.

Blimey, it's almost like you suck thoughts from innocent bystanders, and that is the end of the sentence.

I would say Chaos and Disorder or one of his instrumental albums but for me it has to be Crystal Ball. Off the top of my head I can think of maybe 3 songs of the 8,000 that are on that album that I like. So that leaves a lot of subpar stuff to shift through. I only hate like 4 songs on the entire collection the rest is just slightly below average material.

I WISH there were 8,000 songs on Crystal Ball. However, they'd probably be another 7,970 remixes of shit.

It's hard to say, because to me there are quite a few that fit into the unlistenable category:

Indigo Nights (I also forget this was ever released, and every now and then I remember and play it, only to turn it off within minutes, shaking my head in disgust)

Kamasutra (beyond embarrassing, just really really dreadful in every way)

Elixir (I know it has people who love it or whatever, but I've put it in every now and then and can't even make it through a full song).

But I think that my all-time unlistenable album is EASILY Plectrum Rectum. The only decent song on there is "Wow," and it's kinda so-so (although I enjoyed it live. Of course "Funk n Roll" is a good track, but this was released on radio a year and a half before the record, so it hardly seems to be part of that nightmare of a project.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I listened to it twice, and will never do it again. Garbage.

This! On so many levels.

The choice of sounds alone is firgernails on the chalkboard.

I think I might have to agree with MPLSound. I dislike the first track, so that's a turn-off straight up. Other than "Dance 4 Me", the rest is pretty forgettable and sterile.

Oh I forgot about this one. AOA made me forget about this one. It's like only remembering the most recent trauma.

I forgot about 'Indigo Nights' also.
It has the distinction of being the only Prince album I honestly listened to only once.

Then it went back into it's book & I never felt the need to take it out again.

I find most of the "High" era material that later found its way onto Slaughterhouse and the Chocolate Invasion to be some of the shittiest music Prince has ever recorded. And when you put those songs together to attempt to form albums out of them, their weakness gets even more glaring.

Yeah, these definately go into my 5 least favorite albums. The production sounded horrible already when it came out but now it (to me) it has become unlistenable for the biggest part. Kamasutra was bad too, and PLanet Earth and Emancipation

complete my top5 of Least Listenable Albums.

Oh, and let's not forget MPLSound, that was a bad one too.

(something went wrong with the formatting!)

Can we not even count Indigo Nights? It was so unbelievably shitty. Let's just pretend it didn't happen.

MPLSound- without any doubt whatsoever. Absolute, utter, painful, pointless, mediocre, amateur garbage. Unlistenable. There is no reason whatsoever for this album to exist. What kind of person sees fit to release this, and keep so many great recordings in his vault? I'm not trashing Prince, the man- he's entertained me more than any other recording artist. As an singlular album, this is junk.

exactly ...he doesnt release his best stuff...

I would go with Rave as well.

It ultimate Loudness Wars bad example.

Not that all songs are bad, it's just the sound of it.
That over-compressed, over-enhanced sound as an excuse for the poor compositions.

It has some redeeming features. Not enough to allow me to listen to the album all the way through. But picking from it to add to a playlist...

So Far So Pleased is ok

Baby Knows is ok

I love u but... is pleasant

Strange But True Kicks ass

Wherever U go... is ok

Undisputed (from In2) is good

Beautiful Strange (from In2) is darn good

So not an unlistenable album to me. But not great either.

I don't like all of MLPSound but I don't think it deserves all the hate it gets. I really like Uré Gonna See Me and Ol' Skool Company and Chocolate Box and Dance 4 Me are fun turned up full blast in the car. Otherwise I guess it is forgettable.
I don't find any of them completely unlistenable but I'll go with TRC simply because I listen to it the least. I do like some of it, though.

Is there a reason why I can't find certain albums anywhere?? Like on music streaming services? It goes from Come to like Planet Earth. Where's The Gold Experience and Emancipation and stuff?

Kamasutra by far in my case. I used to love it, then I discovered contemporary music and realized it made no sense at all.

Not including the instrumentals like N.E.W.S. and Kamasutra, as well as live albums...

In my opinion his three worst albums in no particular order are:

-Planet Earth

-Plectrum Electrum

-Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic
