Being a part of the NPGMC and well spending tooo much time there with some amazing and some real freaky people. I had the chance to say a few words to the man a time or two when he was in the chat. My picture was also posted a few times on the site too. In 2004 (I think) I had 2nd row seats in OKC for the Musicology tour. I was lucky enough to be right up on one of the runners of the stage and at the side where Prince and the band members were comimng on and off of the stage. At one point, Prince was standing in front of me singning and he just kinda paused and staired at me then this really big cheesey smile came across his face. I thought hmmmmm......My husband turns to me and starts......He looked at u and knew who you were. OH MY GOD....he knew you! I was like, WOW thats what I was thinking. That look. It was great. I was recognized by Prince! Then after the show I was lucky enough to get a hug from Mike Philphs who was playing the horns. It was great.

A few more of mine:

Lisa's opening key lines of Let's Go Crazy on the Purple Rain Tour.

The Lovesexy band walking to the in the round stage on the Lovesexy Tour. Prince was wheeled in a box to the stage.

Afterparty/aftershow, more of a jam, at Paisley Park in Jan 92, following a preview show at Glam Slam for the D&P Tour. Terence Trent D'Arby picking up a guitar and fumbling around, before quickly putting it down and walking away. I had heard about the infamous private parties at Paisley Park, but it was very surreal to actual be at one.

My first "official" aftershow at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago on the Act I tour. At one point Prince had Gilbert bring out his Purple lyric book and went on to tell everyone he had just written this song and needed the book to remember the lyrics, the song was Papa.

Sep 93, Lenny Kravitz was in Minneapolis for a show on his Universal Love Tour. Prince had an afterparty for him at Paisley Park and they ended up playing together. 2 nights later, Mavis Staples did a show at Glam Slam and there was another afterparty/aftershow at Paisley Park.

Feb 94, the Beautiful Experience concert. The 1-2-3 punch of new songs Interactive, Days of Wild, and Now. Prince shaved Morris's head. He also played drums during Peep The Technique.

Jul 07, the O2 warm up show at Target Center in Minneapolis. The opening song was Purple Rain and the opening guitar part started off in the dark and then a spotlight came on and Wendy was standing there. I could have died. Mid concert Prince and Wendy came out by themselves and did an acoustic set. It was amazing. Sheila E also joined for the encore of the Glamorous Life.

Oh! I was on the front row and he knocked the mic stand over and it almost hits a girl in her head and I grab it just in time and push it back up on stange... he gives me a funny look and a nod...

oh and later that same night I was given a pass to the after show! I lived 4 hours away and had to be at work at 8 the next day...so i traded it for a girl for her concert shirt... she huh took off both of her shirts and had no bra... nice! bonus... I just kind of hugged her as she put the under shirt back on...

After singing the "masturbating with a magazine" line during 'Darling Nikki,' Prince stopped and said "Oooh, I'ma tell yo momma!" I turned and looked at my Mom who was standing beside me and laughed. biggrin

oh another one! In the Dallas ONA: I was on the very last row. But I am jamming and on my feet like I was on the front row. And at some point he points towards me and asks someone to trade seats with that maniac (or something like that) on the last row!

the place was about 2/3 full and we had a tornado that day and there were very few of us up that high...And I was the only one that seemed to really know the songs! I also know he did that at other shows but I still believe he saw me...

March '95 at Wembley Arena for the Ultimate Experience

I hadn't properly discovered Prince at the time and got tickets for my girlfriend and sister so I tagged along

I knew Prince was a "multi-instrumentalist" but as a guitarist myself I am never impressed by "multi-instrumentalists" that play a bit of guitar...

...then this dude blasts out some of the best rock/funk guitar I have ever seen on this weird symbol shaped guitar - throws it across the stage and then picks up an Archtop guitar and plays a 5 minute improvised Jazz guitar solo piece omg

Needless to say I was hooked from that moment on - his singing and dancing was Ok too biggrin

Ok, one more from me. The year was 2013, December. Again my birthday. Mohegan Sun Arena in CT. Prince and 3EG. He was definitely in a funky mood. My highlight of the show was the piano/keyboard medley. Just him at the key boards and one spotlight on his face and fro. He played snippets of about 20 songs including Forever In My Life, Diamonds and Pearls and I Would Die 4 U. But then he went into the housequake chant and picked up a mega phone and brought the full band back for a vicious rendition of Days Of Wild! I was in funk heaven. Cmon my fellow orgers I know we got more out there. Let me hear ya!

I can fully appreciate this - both my girlfriend (now wife) and sister absolutely HATED it as they wanted to hear "the hits"

I was just completely blown away by the guitar playing, musicianship, stage craft etc. (not being a previous Prince fan)

As the Gold Experience wasn't being released due to the WB dispute it forced me to get hold of bootlegs, which opened up a whole new world

I still like the "classics" but I would much rather watch my boots of Prince from this era onwards

Embrace

My 1st best moment was at my 1st concert.

June 2nd, 1990. Rotterdam, the Netherlands. 40.000 people in attendance.

And oh I assure you that they were dancing

And that it was wet, very wet. And hot, yes very hot.

A warm summer storm of great thunder and lightening came that night over the iconic football stadium.

And like a FLOOD the concert was ruined.

The fire department had to come in because the situation had become dangerous.

Prince reportedly was almost 'eloctrocuted', while he was performing the 'electric man' on his piano.

From the water that was poored unto him - or rather crushed like a waterfall...

Coming from the roof of the stage that wasn't build strong enough to withstand all the pressure.

Of the Water....

I remember Prince at some point picking up a bouquet of flowers from the stage

That one of his most loyal and devouted Dutch admirares graced him with.

And he said: "I think these flowers need some water" while holding them out into the rain...

Was it a Purple Rain?

Well, for sure it didn't look purple, execept for the moment they bathed the entire stadium in a Purple Light.

That's when the Rain became Purple too and something magical happened:

The show stopped prematurely, like an Orgasm that is coming too soon.

Later, they said it was because the fire department intervened.

But the show. That was literally ON FIRE>

Like Thunder is. Through the Rain.

It was 2 months later, after his ruined opening of the 'Nude Tour', that Prince made up for the disaster.

For the 'premature orgasm'...

That was caused by natural forces outside of his control.

Because Prince DOES make up, even if it's not his own fault, and not just his face either!

He really came back to correct, and this time he didn't perform in the sizzling hot, bubbling stadium called 'De Kuip' (or in English: 'the Bathtub' - how telling) in Rotterdam

No, this time he choose, or rather was given, someting other watery, that however was cold.

Yes, FOR REAL: in the middle of summer he decided to come back to perform in an ice-scating dome called 'Thialf'. With a firm roof and everything...

In Heerenveen. That is all the way up in the north of the Netherlands. Only the real Freaks would travel there to see him..

But 20.000 freaks including me and friends did.

And oh my, did I and my fellow Freaks have the the time of our lives!!

It was really everything June 2nd was supposed to be, and then some more...

Long story short: when he played Purple Rain, I didn't 'really' see the rain, I had that 'ohohoh' experience with all my fellow freaks AND he played one of his most Iconic solo's ever!

That was my 2nd best concert moment ever> August 10, 1990, Heerenveen, The Netherlands.

Yes, and for that, even now, 25 years later, a quarter of a century, I still say: God Bless Prince!

Ok, one more from me. The year is 1993. The place NYC Radio City Music Hall. The Act 1 tour. He was in a very funky mood. Great guitar work in She Always In My Hair. But the highlight was the encore with the medley of Baby I am Star/Push. He straps on the keyboard guitar over his neck and just JAMS! He was on point. I mean some of the nastiest funk I have hear from him. I brought my girlfriend at the time and my girlfriend's friend. She didnt know Prince at all. After the concert we were driving home. She was completely quiet. I asked her "well? what did u think?" She still didn't say anything. I thought there was something wrong with her. After about 5 mins she just says "that was amazing! I'm speechless" I just nodded and smiled and drove home. Anymore best concert moments out there?

Oh, you lucky bastard.

.

I'll add another one. My first Prince aftershow. 2000 Hit & Run Tour in Atlanta, GA Thanksgiving Eve. I was two rows deep and dude came out shredding and just destroyed on "The Ride", 'She's Always in My Hair" and few Santana numbers. I was floored. Being able to actually watch his hands as he melted that fucking guitar gives me goosebumps just writing about it. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, Chuck D. comes out and they do "Fight the Power". I was like "is that...? That looks like...Chuck D...is it...? no WAY!?"

.

Yes way. Chuck D and Prince on stage together and I'm 2 rows back slamming margaritas jumping up and down like a lunatic.

.

I also met my wife at that show, believe it or not, though she was with someone else at the time. I bumped into her AGAIN at the ONA tour in Atlanta and she remembered meeting me and actually knew me from my posts on the org. We corresponded through this website and now we've been together for 12 years, married for eight and have a 4 year old son.

.

Maybe I should have told that story first.

.

I happened to be in neighbouring Chile at the time, and heard he was playing a one off gig in Buenos Aires in between his Rock in Rio shows.

So I grabbed the first plane out and got to see this short but amazing show.

.

He was in transition between Nude and D&P, so aside from your Hits, we also got to hear new tunes and some Graffitti Bridge tracks.

.

It was my 1st P concert, so it will forever be my BEST concert moment.

wink

Do you know if that's the only time he's played in Argentina?

Yep. Only time.
