Was supposed to... But dissapointed.

4 years no album, comes back with 1 mediocre album, and 1 album with only one good song on it.

No PR remaster as advertised.

No music videos.

Toured for 2 years with 3EG before the albums were even announced/released...

It was only BIG in the sense that we got two new albums after a four year wait.

.

I could care less about the remaster. I will buy it if it's released but it's not that big of a deal to me.

.

I love AOA, but after four years I expected a little more especially from the 3EG album.

.

I don't get it, he signs with WB to get his masters back & it seems he sabotaged his own promotional efforts.

.

I guess he has a master plan, but it seems cloudy from where I'm sitting.

.

It sure is frustrating to be a Prince fan sometimes. However, if I were Prince I would have denounced us 'fans' a long time ago. We're pretty much a bunch of d!cks & @ssholes here. With fans like these who needs critics?

U said something I wanted to say many many years ago. I've been at the org since the beginning, and this place has some of the biggest assholes.

Prince does have some of the worst fans around, that's the God honest truth. It's real sad though... I think it's a paradox, his fans love him so much that they bash him and always bitch about him, don't know... But Prince has some of the worst fans around, this place is living proof.

And yet he's ONLY ever shut down the websites and places on the Internet where the so-called positive, nothing-ever-bad-to-say, ass-kissing, love-everything-he's-ever-done-without-question-no-exceptions, brown-nosing, first to start unnecessary drama when anyone else dares say anything about him that isn't blathering fawning, boot-licking, sycophants fans have overrun. While the Org with us assholes and worst fans around has been here nearly 15 or 16 years and still has a little kick, in spite of the Prince abandoned refugees from the aforementioned bunch.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Big for the guy that made Purple Rain? No. Of course not.

Big for the guy that has nothing but bad press, hasn't has a US release since 2009, has zero popularity among anyone but music nerds, and only has clout based on the guy that made Purple Rain? Yes. Two LPs and a SNL performance is a pretty big deal.

Yes. I saw Prince play at Paisley Park 5 times this year. Album listening parties, dance parties, heard unreleased songs at Paisley Park. Two new albums, yahoo special, and SNL. There hasn't been this much action in years!

For Me, YES!

- One fanatstic new album, AOA...

- Some funny surprises by him on social media...it was fun while it lasted...

- Some nice songs on PE

- A great live gig in vienna...

- SNL performance, Arsenio Hall. The NEW girl episode

- Some great boots and new leaks of unreleased songs in good quality

Sure, it could have been a bigger year for him, but as always he does things you don`t expect, which

on the other side is why it never gets boring smile

I think it's been a great year, and I am ultimately glad Prince does whatever he wants to...it's never boring!

Prince has to run the ART & the business now and tbh, thats alot for any person to do. His overhead appears to be astronomical, and I'm sure it detracts from the music making.

I'd like to see him do a return to the 'for you' & 'prince' eras and lock himself in his studio and make a new album. I want him to play with all the new production toys and do what he does best...make something we've never heard before smile

But yeah 2014 is a winner from where I'm sitting ... smile

It's been a good year. Two good albums, a couple of good TV spots, some good shows. Can't complain about that. Sure, by Prince's former standards it's been a bit slow. But we were spoiled back in those days where every year you could expect a Prince album, and associated artist album, an extensive tour, plus a steady flow of one-off tracks and bootlegs etc. But the guy is 56 now. I don't expect him to be as prolific as he used to be. He's paid his due lol. Everything from here on in is simply icing on a fantastic career.

.

Prince fandom was a lot better before HE started attacking us. Didn't help that this coincided with a steep drop in quality, unfulfilled promises, straight rip-offs, imbecilic business decisions, attacks on fansites,...

.

Another problem is of course that so many famz can't tolerate criticism and immediately label it "hate". That wasn't a problem on the PPML, nor on a.m.p; it only started becoming a problem when some fans really wanted to be "close" to Prince and then we got the whole L4OA shite and Kathy Opnmind etc.

.

And then there were the forums on NPGMC which were rampant with censorship, and after those closed the Org had an influx of famz who'd "lived sheltered online lives" and suddenly were confronted with people who weren't trying to kiss Prince's ass 24/7.

.

And of course there are also the many videos in which Prince has a fan break into Paisley Park etc. Go watch the 1996 VH-1 special, etc.

.

Also don't forget about the people who created fan magazines like Controversy (which was semi-official for a while) and that other guy whose name I forget; both of them got invited for a talk and both of them closed down shop shortly afterwards. These were people who spent huge amounts of time and money and produced magazines that AFAIK didn't contain one single critical note, yet they too got maltreated by Prince, and got so desillusioned they just stopped.

.

Hell, Uptown and Interactive and The Prince Family and 7 Magazine: were these really that bad? Of course not, these were magazines that mostly were very supportive. And what was their thanks? Threats and later on letters from lawyers. Meanwhile some rip-off artist who produced some shitty magazine that was full of esoteric nonsense gets the seal of approval, collects a bunch of subscription money and then is never heard from again.

.

Ghee, I wonder why Prince fandom sucks so badly. Surely can't have anything to do with Prince behaving like a total towards those who supplied fans with fantastic stories and pictures etc. Surely can't have anything to do with lazy numbskulls insisting that the same old stories get retold every three months on the Org because they're too lazy to use the search functionality (hell, even visiting Princevault is too much hassle), thus scaring away those with extensive knowledge because they're sick of seeing the same bullshit posted over and over again ("Prince must be behind all those boots") -- and then that bullshit gets defended, of course.

fusk

my guess is that when you take some fans who believe prince can do no wrong and put them next to other fans who really react badly to that nonsense, both sides dig in and start getting a little hyperbolic. So the ass kissing gets even more obnoxious while the criticism gets stronger and stronger, until it seems like some fans never have anything nice to say.

Of course this wasn't a big year. Big years don't involve massive disappointments (no PR Deluxe) and long-expected failures (3rd Eye Girl) and comeback albums that really aren't a comeback but merely a whine about how current music sucks but at the same time desperately tries to mimic said music because Princey really wants a hit.

.

What's big about a year in which Prince's social media presence looked like it was handled by 15 year old valley girls, with barely coherent attempts at retweeting which actually were awful copy-paste jobs. Social media is about a dialog, and instead all we got were "look at these positive reviews" and a bunch of hype crap.

.

What's big about a year that featured a two hour online fiasco that contained just about all the elements of why the past 18 years have been so shitty?

.

What's big about a year that had two releases, neither of which contained anything genuinely worthwhile? Sure, there's "Way back Home", but that's a barely fleshed out idea and it falls apart after five listens. Plus it is coupled with those godawful "Affirmations".

.

What's big about a year in which Prince spent the Summer whining about Warner Bros?

.

Wanna know how you can know this wasn't a big year? Because you have to ask whether it was one.

Let me ask a sideways question:

-

Do you consider 1988 a "BIG" Prince year? In the USA, be severely mishandled the lovesexy promotion. The album flopped and the tour lost Prince a lot of money. In fact, it put him in the red.

-

Many people saying 2014 wasn't a "BIG" year are talking about 2 things: Promotion and Personal Taste.

Prince has not frustrated the fanbase to this level since 1996's Crystal Ball. He freaking announced a PURPLE RAIN remaster plus OUTTAKES was coming out this year. And then failed to deliver. Instead we got a... meditation cd mostly produced by some boring jackleg shit-hopper off Youtube??? Oh fuck this. Did that shit really happen? Oh yeah it did and some of the FAMS, actually say they prefer the fake-shithopper-masquerading-as-Prince tracks to those produced by Prince himself. Prince delivered two albums just LOADED with postshots and fugg-yous to his fanbase, and surprisingly, those fans didn't make it a top priority to buy a copy. Hmm wonder why?

Oh yeah, it was a BIG year, alright. Prince set fans up for a H-U-G-G-G-E letdown, boy. And then got his panties in a bunch, packed up all his singlewordtweets and fucking quit, when he realized that people saw through his bullshit. Yes, it was definitely a BIG year. biggrin

Prince doesn't need a good year.

What he needs is a string of back-to-back good albums consistently over the course of about 3 or 4 years.

Isn't that how he got big to begin with?

Do u consider 2014 to be a "BIG" Prince year.. yes or no?

yes

prince 's MEGA, critically acclaimed, high rated, sitcom debut on "New Girl" started the year off with a BANG!

His sold out, overseas, hit & run shows, with Rolling Stones magazine voted, best live band #3RDEYEGIRL, put his uk fans in fever pitch hysteria.

His HIGHLY anticipated, record setting, SOLD OUT, 50,000 seat, superdome Esssence Festival appearance, set an all time record! Plus beat lounge singer Beyonce's previous record set YEARS ago.

Then he created a die hard, fanbase webcast, that took us on a sneak peak, of his ever changing band rehearsals. Plus debuted several unheard unreleased, MASTERPIECES! Plus @ the same time, publicly scolded a snake in the process, that constantly bootlegged, the whole private unsolicited webcast & was put to rest deservingly 4ever biggrin.

prince was voted @ the top of each favorite guitarist list this year.

Then announced his MEGA resigning, with his past rival label WB! Which included him retaining his MASTER RECORDINGS! That alone makes this the best year in prince's 36 year career...

Plus a debut facebook & instagram account. That was the rave of the industry! But just as quickly ended all social media accounts in a flash. When negativity outwayed it's purpose. To make way 4 a surprise year end extravaganza not yet announced. But worth the wait.

Then he christened his fickled, fairweather, ungrateful fans with not one but TWO albums. That both set a record, and debuted @ the top of the charts, @ the same time! Of course b4 flying out again, not one. But two MEGA fans on an all expence paid trip, to his soul sanctuary, prince's sprawling home estate Paisley Park.

He ended the year on a high note. By debuting tracks, from his record setting, double #1 albums "Art Official Age" & Plectrumelectrum" on a Chris Rock hosted, high rated SnL per4mance. It set another record in it's 40 year history. By obeying prince's command, of allowing him to play an uninterrupted, MEGA watts, commercial free, 8 minute per4mance that blew the roof of the SnL stage.

TO BE CONTINUED..........................

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I could go for an album of really great slow jams (released and
unreleased stuff) performed and recorded by Prince. That
would help this year "BIG" for me smile Since that album will
most probably never manifest, I'd have to say no sad
