Great song, but the guitar solos were not up to par with many of the other versions floating around.

I might get grief for this, but I've always been partial to the 1992 version--it was one of the first outtakes (other the Black Album) that I ever got, and I actually want the cheesy instrumental ending to keep going. I only had internet access at the computer lab on campus, so I had to save each file split over multiple floppy discs. You value I'll Do Anything outtakes (it was in a batch with those) more when they're so complicated to acquire and manipulate. There Is Lonely really is as good as I think it is, but I'm aware that My Little Pill is not as interesting as it seemed to me all those years ago.
Anyway, I loved that version, and I still do. When I heard the fuller (80's) version, I wasn't as excited (and I don't care when it was recorded, it just sounds so NPG-ish that it's tough for me to really think of it as coming from earlier), and the other subsequently released or streamed versions have never matched either of those for me. So, to recap, first place goes to 1992, second to the original studio version, and then I don't care which one after that. Always a good song.
Also, wouldn't it be nice if these new streams appeared more prominently, like maybe on the front page... this one was hanging out down at the bottom of the screen. So I'm just gonna bump it up a bit so no one misses it.

IF this song was rehearsed for SNL we can conclude that that show will not be a PR remaster promotion event... Also perhaps not a PE or AOC promotion event? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Which would be very much in keeping with Prince's marketing philosophy.

Very nice, and I'm glad it was posted. I never cared much for this song until I heard it on the most recent tour, and then it just clicked for me for some reason. I'll have to revisit the other versions.

2020 said: I soooo hope they DONT play this song on SNL.... Yes an amazing song but only for die hards. He's got a boat load of new just as equally great music and he needs to play something from AOA or PE Yes. Save it for the tour. Only new CD stuff on SNL.

If only that were true.
Nothing on AOA or PE holds a candle to this gem of a song. I would be very happy for them to perform this song on SNL.

The mixing/arrangement is not good, imho. The guitar seems playing another song in another house.
