Very true. And I was just making an observation. The sad thing is even before I clicked on the thread I knew it would devolve into Christian/bible bashing. You can argue that Christian rock is 'boring,' but the religious intolerance is just so predictable now.

I agree. It's always been a part of Prince to various degrees.

The OP is irractional because 3rd Eye Girl is not Christian Rock

Now that the OP has exposed Hanna for what I already knew, the OP should stop stalking her page

And stop scapegoating 'Christian Rock' as the reason they don't like Prince's new albums

Hey, who knows why I don't like the new stuff....................maybe it is because it all sounds like religious watered-down, light FM, contemorary christian radio R&B / light rock bullshit to me. It's sad that I have to put his music into a category now but if the shoe fits............

It is just an opinion.

I thought it was ok to have opinions here on the org, no?

The difference being: until converting to JW, Prince was never judgemental or dismissive of those that were not on the same path he was on. This has often not been the case since his conversion. There are quite a few examples that could be given, especially during TRC/ONA era.

I haven't heard every song on PE. Do some songs have Christian lyrics or something?

Sounds like Hannah just was talking about her faith for some article. Good for her! Chrisianity is hated on so much, she's not afraid for speaking about her faith. That's refreshing.

I actually listen to some Christian rock. Yeah, some of it is boring, generic sounding music, but I like it for the lyrics, not the music. That's called "praise music."

There is nothing overtly "Christian" about PlectrumElectrum.

Prince has been very into God since he started. If the intent of this thread is to take issue with that then the OP needs to go back and listen to Controversy. You know, that album where he recites the lords prayer.

Can we have another "is Prince gay" thread please?

Eh, none of this matters to me. She seems pretty reasonable overall.

The music on PE (a lot of it, at least) is boring for other reasons.

See what you did...now I'm bored.

I think it's time to put up some music...to easy my boredom

...hang on, wait for it...yeah...Plectrum Electrum...here we go!!!

almost anyone get's preachy whether it's religion, politics, social issues etc at some time or another.

Prince (Lovesexy era) could be described by some thru the tour and album as preachy as well

Y'all can get any song from the 80s that y'all want, including "Temptation," "Computer Blue," "Let's Go Crazy," "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man," "The Cross," and others, and the guitar work on songs like "Dreamer," "Colonized Mind," "WoW," "Pretzelbodylogic," and "AnotherLove" are equally, if not more, powerful. Lyrically, Prince's greatest genius has been his ambiguity, which allows listeners to read into his lyrics what each person desires. But, his core message hasn't really changed. And if you didn't see The Rainbow Children coming, then that's cause you were blinded by your own desires to read into his early work want you wanted to hear because Prince's imagery and message has always been anchored or rooted in Christianity. So, any fan pissed off about any use of Christianity, then that fan can only be pissed off at oneself 'cause all of his messages have been based on Christianity. And, as much as people try to claim differently, "Way Back Home" is not any more "open" than any of Prince's other work because it is still asserting that there is "right" path and a "wrong" path. Thus, if you consider The Rainbow Children judgmental for asserting there is a "right" way to live and a "wrong" way to live, then you must also consdier "Way Back Home" judgmental. Yet, with all of that stated, the guitar work on PlecElec holds its own against anything Prince has done, and I've been there to witness it all. Now, for full disclosure I like AOA a bit better than PlecElec simply because I want Prince to sing all the leads. But, once I got pass Hannah singing most of the leads, I was able to enjoy one kick-ass record. Of course, I find songs where dudes play three chords, spit, and curse at me with no type of changes or progressions in the music pretty booooooring, which is what most of "rock" music has become. So, I'm happy to see PlecElec reintroduce "rock" to its soul and swing, reminding it that it's really a baby of blues. And anyone who can't hear that in "WoW," Pretzelbodylogic," and "AnotherLove" I question if one truly understands what "rock-n-roll" really is.

Um, you may have wandered into the wrong thread. Based on the title, clearly this is for people who find PE boring - just be happy we care enough to discuss why! lol

Speaking of Christian-themed Prince songs.."7" pulls heavily from the book of Revelation.

I don't see 3rdeyegirl as christian rock. However, I applaud Hanna for speaking about her faith. I am also a believer and it makes me feel good to know that Prince has someone in his band who can share the word of God with him. I have seen the healing power of God and prophetically speaking, he has done wonders in my life. If Hanna has experienced what I have, Then I would say Prince has done well in hiring her. Right On Hanna! Don't let anybody get you down, girl!

Love this kind of talk. All so wonderfully vague and meaningless. Sorry. No disrespect but what kind of healing powers are you talking about?

In the past, I'm sure you've have some kind of infection, right?. Did you trust in the healing powers of God or did you haul ass to a doctor and pick medical science? I think we both know what you did.

All I ask is that people get real. Nothing more.

A few months ago when I mentioned that 3EG sounds Christian influenced I was shouted down.

.

Hannah and Josh in their interviews, they talk about their stint with Prince like it was some gift from God that they were destined for, and they are openly proselytising, and all this comes across as arrogant and naive imo.

.

Maybe this is not felt that strong in the US where this way of talking about one's faith might be more common and accepted.

.

I don't mind musicians having faith and practicing a religion. It can influence their music and can come out in their music and that is fine if it aligns with one's own worldview or spiritual view or it has some universal appeal.

In the beginning, there was God
He made the earth, and the heavens
He gave us light to rule the day
And another light to rule the night

The Lord, thy God
Made, He made the seas
He made the fruit upon the trees
When He saw, when He saw that it was good

He made a man, made a man
Only He could, only He could
God made you
God made me too
He made us all
Made us all equally

Now you say
God made you
God made me
He made us all equally

Wake up children
Dance the dance electric
There isn't much time
Who screamed?
Was it you?

Long ago there was a man
Change stone to bread with the touch of his hand
Made the blind see and the dumb understand
He died for the tears in your eyes, your eyes

Many people came from all around
To hear this man preach, glorious sound
He spoke of man in harmony and love abound
He died for the tears in your eyes, your eyes
Your eyes, your eyes

He died for the tears in your eyes
For the tears in your eyes and the tears of sorrow
Four cents may be all that they're worth
For the rising sun each day assures us
The meek shall inherit the earth, the earth

Faith is a word, we all should try
Describing the man who willingly died
Believe that your hunger, sorrow and fears
Is less than the tears in your eyes, your eyes

Less than the tears in your eyes
For the tears in your eyes and the tears of sorrow
Four cents may be all that they're worth
For the rising sun each day assures us
The meek shall inherit the earth

Say it again
For the tears in your eyes and the tears of sorrow
Four cents may be all that they're worth
For the rising sun each day assures us
The meek shall inherit the earth, the earth

Born on the isle of pain

it is easy to find easy to blame

used to be gagged and bound

Look outside your window, tell me now what you see
Comin' up the mountain for a new philosophy
Every single color, every race and ever creed
Lookin' for the truth y'all that's gonna set somebody free

Get on the boat, get on the boat, people
Get on the boat now, we got room for a hundred more
Get on the boat, get on the boat, people
Get on the boat now, we got room for a hundred more

All across the nation, people doin' what they can
To avoid the tribulation that will be great throughout the land
Everything in darkness must come out into the light
When we love each other, that's the only way that's gonna be right
