absolutely. thank you for pointing it out. I'm hoping that Vegas "soul" revue of his career is over. probably not, but here's hoping. is her album still suposed to be coming out? the sooner their albums come out, the sooner we're out of the woods lol

i don't know i think perhaps even prince lost interest by now.

or maybe he's content that he's messed up her future carreer

prospects enough at this point

falloff

on a side note, i'm starting to warm up to PlectrumElectrum,

since i've had it on repeat most of the night. but on a very

low volume, as background music. it works wonderfull that

way. strange, since it was said that it should be played loud.

and about PE, as usual, when Prince decides to do a rock record, he can never really commit and it ends up muddled in some way. it doesn't know what it wants to be. and valuable real estate is taken up by things that turn out to be filler because of certain choices or gimmicks.

waiting a few days to give too many thoughts on either of them. the highs on both are high and the lows are low. overall, I'm pleased. still forming my pithy remarks in my head as I let them both soak in lol

No detailed response--just listened once so far (halfway through my second AOA). After AOA, I wasn't maybe in the most attentive mood--liked most of it, Another Love stood out, definitely preferred PE's Funknroll. I'm very pleased, and will happily pay for these on Tuesday when I pick up the CDs.

I haven't not been able to listen to anything off this album but ANOTHERLOVE. It is on permanent repeat. Prince & 3rdEyeGirl abolutely KILLED IT in this reworking of the original. The passion with which Prince delivers these vocals. MAAAAAAN. He seems to be really good singing about break ups.

Wow... LIV killed it. P's vocals don't have the punch and kick that the track deserves.

Overall, the musicianship on Plectrum Electrum is superb. The thick analogue sound is warm. The songwriting is uneven. And the vocals... well umm that band just needs to *play*. And Prince either needs to do the vox himself or find singers to do them.

I like it more than I thought I would. But I'm still stuck on ANOTHERLOVE. WOW!

I heard it once, and yeah, it's a lot better IMO. But that doesn't make this version bad, exactly. It's just missing the wow factor in the vocals

At first I found it very difficult getting into PE after being somewhat blown away by AOA. However, last night I gave it a few listens and I have to say that I think it is a very good album. All of the songs are solid and I dont feel like I want to skip any. It is a lot better than I was expecting. Even the old songs like FULU and PBL sound fresh in the context of the album.

Stand out tunes:

WOW

PE

Boytrouble

Stopthistrain

Anotherlove

Tictactoe (oddly, this is my favourite...)

Funknroll

I really do like what we have here. Combined with the brilliance of AOA, I think the long hiatus was worth the wait.

Anyone else get major 'Debra' (which in itself, is Beck doing Prince) vibes during the spoken segments of 'Wow'?

No, it doesn't feature prince. I don't think he even wrote it. I think Liv's guitarist wrote but I gotta check that fact. No spaces tho No u know, and knowings half the battle! GO JOE!!! [Edited 9/26/14 5:30am]

No. Prince DID write the song, Ryan Waters just played the guitar parts. At the bottom of the home page of Liv's website you can download a pdf of the artwork and credits for Liv's album (available digitally from iTunes & Amazon) where it says "click here to download digital booklet".

Just received both albums.

First impressions:

.

Is this world class artists' preferred packaging? It's even thinner than a digipack, what happened to the jewel case? Is music really a throwaway product?

.

Why is there no track listing on the packaging of PLEL? (AOA does have a tracklisting on the packaging)

.

That is two fails.

But hey, they're a new band.... wink

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I haven't actually listend to it yet myself, but I'm told it's Lizzo. If so, I'm pretty excited as she's my favorite local artist of late. I'm told one of her partners in crime, Sophia Eris, is also all over this record. I'm now excited to hear it. Before I was pretty ho hum about it all.

Ya'll should really check out Lizzo. LOVE her. Actually, might go see her at First Ave tonight - she's doing 2 nights in the mainroom tonight and tomorrow, but I know tomorrow's sold out.
