Holy 💩 I think this is even betterer than AOA. The bass on Boytrouble is giving me full in funk face and 🍆🌽

Possibly. It's also possible that this group of proffessional musicians could play the same song twice... RIP

I think this album is a little gem. Boy Trouble doesn't fit, should have been Screwdriver. Another Love is the fave at the moment. I think this will get more spins that AOA in the long run. .

Listened to the whole album first time.
For me this album could be a grower. A solid album with some ups and downs, maybe not that guitar heavy what i expected but i´m fine with that. Plectrumelectrum is not that kind of album i ´m like "wow, what a great piece of work", rather like a second rate choice of Prince songs that are pretty well produced and put 2gether.
Highlights: WOW - good opener, nice guitar work and well produced WHITECAPS - reminds a bit of Weny & Lisa ANOTHERLOVE - best and outstanding track imo, great production overall incl vocals and guitar work TICTACTOE - catchy song, easy listening at its best
Don´t like: Marz - this song is a mash, no texture, only song i might skip when listening to the album
And: the version of FUNKROLL from AoA > Plectrumelectrum
I´m looking forward to listen to the whole AoA album 2morrow. [Edited 9/25/14 13:58pm] [Edited 9/25/14 14:16pm]

The real surprise is Tic Tac Toe. This is such a clever piece of dreamy Prince pop. Exquisite. Wow, Another Love and Funknroll also stand out.

Tic tac Toe could've fit perfectly for Wendy and Lisa. great song.

I think the tracks with Prince on vocals range from good to great. But the tracks with Hannah? Hmm. I find Whitecaps pleasant but forgettable. The rest sound like some shitty band playing a lame bar in a Milwaukee suburb. You buy their CD because you were trying to be nice and they seemed friendly. Listen to it once. Toss it in the closet. I must say I'm rather suprised at how much I'm enjoying this, given that my heart sank somewhat upon hearing some of the samples (particularly Boytrouble, which frankly I doubt will ever endear itself to me, I might replace it with the Screwdriver remix in my playlist of the album.) But yeah, although there are definitely some dodgy moments (the chorus of Tictactoe, Hannah's vocal on Aintturninround) overall I'm really impressed with how much this album rocks, there are some great balls out guitar moments, and I rather like the dreamy pop of Whitecaps and Tictactoe (aside from aforementioned chorus) as well. So discovering this album was a nice surprise, look forward to giving it a relisten. Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Here is my take on Plectrum Electrum . FAVOURITES IN ORDER Wow! Stop This Train Funk N Roll Fix U R Life Up Another Love Boy Trouble WhiteCaps Pretzelbodylogic Marz . DO NOT LIKE IN ORDER Aint Turnin Round Tic Tac Toe . So thats 9 out of 11. That was far higher than I thought I like 7 our of 12 on AOA
Quite a few slating Boy Trouble but I think its pretty cool and I love Stop This Train, groovy although both those tracks wouldnt look out of place on AOA

Not really its the opposite. In this case the rock album Pectumwhateverthefuck... is the lesser album.
You wanting to put White Caps on repeat should be a major concern. Its sounds like some 12 year girl wrote it. Although I do like the music. The vocal delivery and lyric are downright embarassing
The title track, Wow, and Anotherlove caught my attention ...other than that, that thing is some hot doo doo Dance... Let me see you dance

fresh not good in this case
I'm listening to Whitecaps. The music deserves a better vocal treatement and lyrics... its shame. Something about those live drums bothers me too. Its too damn simple. i dont fuckin' know.
It sounds like something Meshell N'deochello would have killed back in her day... and she is not a great singer either but the metaphor would not have been so much better [Edited 9/25/14 17:42pm] [Edited 9/25/14 17:43pm] Dance... Let me see you dance

i think it would still get a pass from me, even with those lyrics, if prince were on vocals. with him on vocals it would just be one of those brief, breezy little tunes he sometimes throws out and have their own charm for all their silliness. but without prince on vocals lack body and depth in places. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I wish Stop This Train had a Prince lead vocal. I think it could end up being a classic.

indeed! i really like that song, even without prince singing. i know it sort of defeats the whole point of the album, but i do wish prince was singing lead on all tracks / this whole band thing would have probably worked better for both parties if they'd recorded an actual 3rdEyeGirl record, with just the girls and prince helping out in a few places. and then also a Prince rock record, with some help from the girls. / it probably seems silly, but i'm quite sure i would enjoy hannah's vocals more if they were on an album by 3rdEyeGirl alone. then you listen differently. / case in point it Andy Allo. i loved her Superconductor album, because it was her album, with prince on it, but still her album. so you knew what you were buying. / and when she pops up on prince's songs, i really enjoy her there. but she's still clearly a guest, not taking over entire songs on her own. / but with PE, since they swap lead on tracks, you just can't help thinking "oh, it's got the makings of a cool tune, but sadly prince isn't taking lead on this"

Even though bass players almost always get overlooked unless its a funk album, I'm surprised at how much I pay attention to the bass parts in this album. Ida has grown so much with her years with Prince, her playing is impeccable o this album in my opinion. You don't hear too much technical precision with Hannah's playing but for these types of songs its not really necessary and she does an ok job. With the guitar its hard to say what's Prince's doing and what's Donna's, but they're synergizing and sounding a lot better together now than they did when I saw them on their first 3EG US tour. . I'm going to wait to rate the songs, because I found that my first opinon sometimes changes. I hated whitecaps when that was leaked and I now love it, so I'll revisit this thread in a few days after its all sunken in. Change it one more time..
