I can't believe this thread is still a good discussion on page 21. Awesome.
Aerogram, you're right about Prince not being in a good place around the time of Rave. I saw him perform many times at Paisley around then, and he often looked very depressed. It just radiated from him. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I like this one. May be my bad taste but I genuinely think it's interesting. Anyone alse thinks that lyric about "our future queen" may be a reference to Janelle Monae's "Metropolis" world? Or am I imagining things? The whole concept of the album seems somehow related to me. |

I used to think the same thing back then. There was one night in particular, where he was wearing a peach outfit with matching ribbons in his braids. I think he did Motherless Child that night as well as SOTT (to a loop). I remember walking away thinking, "Wow...he's not in a good place." "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide." |

losing your baby and going through a divorce would send us all into despair...it affected him far more than we could know i think..he looked a bit of a lost soul in the late 90s... thats why he ended up making the rainbow children album and becoming a jehovah witness..looking for answers...thats how i see it anyway. |

One child but his parents died withing one year of each other around 2000.
I'm glad he's a private person as I know too many celebrities that would have gone public and tried to garner sympathy. I think we were very lucky we eventually had The Rainbow Children, which represents Prince landing on his two feet like a cat on his four paws.
Naturally, here on the Org we had people criticizing him for not attending fuerals and that type of thing.
Too many people here act like Prince somehow should conform to their idea of what Prince should be. He's been far from perfect but the level of criticism would be considered harrassment if it was delivered in person. For years, he couldn't make two steps without some Prince "expert" complaining and criticizing Prince became the multi-year hobby of some Orgers. |

Bring on the REMIXES! Who should do the remixes?
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Prince does the same thing, questioning why people even celebrate birthdays.
My kids would be very hurt if they didn't get a birthday party with cake while their friends have b-day paties. Perhaps it would console them if I said "Prince wonders why anyone celebrates birthdays, children, so no party or cake for you!"
'U Know', it's an ok song with a few ridiculous lyrics.
Still lookung forward to the new albums and was pleased that Amazon reduced the price from $19.00 to $12.00.

If Prince is pulling that much weight in your home then that's what you allow in your home. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! |

Thanks for the info because I wasn't about to spend $19. Now maybe I'll go back and order it.

And Prince has zero influence in his home, so the kids get a birthday party with cake etc.

BRAAAAAVO!!!
i am not Religious at all but i think that people too much follow society. Do what you wnat. Bring your children up different. Make them individual. This world is full of too many people following people. Be unique. Every parents lies to their children they say, 'santa claus is coming' no he isnt. Its a lie. You are teaching your children to lie. I never lie at all about anything. People hate it because they hate the truth but as i always say, 'you cant insult someone by telling the truth' |

I have religious beliefs and agree with your point about individuality but my kids are 10 and younger and I'll let them make the important choices once they're old enough to understand the principals of those choices.
Until then, birthdays are a must.
How else can I get all-you-can-eat cake 3 extra days a year?
