Pharrell's dream collaboration? - Prince Pharrell Williams was interviewed on this morning's VH1 Big Morning Buzz and asked who his dream collaboration would be; someone he wants to, but has yet to work with.
After thinking a moment, Pharrell said Prince, adding "He doesn't need me, that's the thing. He doesn't need anyone, he's one of those genius guys."
"It'd be awesome", Pharrell said, "...I'd play the tambourine", alluding that he would play any part in a collaboration with Prince.

To me, P should take him up on this, as both are supremely talented and would likely respect and enhance each other's creative boundaries, and it would likely result in a big enough hit, that would get Prince back on the charts and mainstream radio.
...Thoughts?

True that..i just feel like trolling posts today..OI agree however, that it could be awesome..hit and mainstream acceptance aside

Maybe Prince would let him play cowbell... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

> This is true. Did you attempt to watch that iHeartradio awards show? Pharrell performed. It was lackluster. I like Pharrell but have no interest in him collaborating with Prince. i think if Prince wanted a hit he could easily have one, he is after all a known hitmaker. At best he could put out a really great album, hits besides the point. It's as easy as putting out "Purple Rain II".

I feel like Prince could have done Happy or Blurred Lines and they wouldn't have been big phenomenon songs. The material itself is extremely weak.

> True. The Blurred Lines phenomenon came out of nowhere to me. When I first heard it I dismissed it. Got a little swept up in it once it gained phenomenon status. Now I'm back to caring less. "Happy" is just that but I feel it's just riding a wave from "Get Lucky" (Nile Rodgers deserves much credit here) and "Lines".

They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Pharrell and Prince would be really epic. I just wonder how Prince would react to having a producer since he's been his own producer since the Stone Age. But, Prince may not want to work with Pharrell because of the fact that Pharrell runs in circles with hardcore rapper types. Don't believe me? Go to youtube and type "move that dope" and watch the video, LOL. If Prince has seen it, then you can bet for sure that Prince will never collaborate with Skateboard P! LOL Trolls be gone!

As cool and hips as Pharrell is now as I've said before I'd much rather see him collab with this guy first... The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Pharrell is a nice guy but he knows damn well that Prince's current studio work is crap. Prince is a legend and an elder statesman that people somewhat rightly tend to be sycophants over. But. SOMEBODY. Be honest. It doesn't make you a bad person.

I'm sure Prince would like to work with Pharrell and vice versa. Prince would definitely soak up Pharrell's Neptunes signature sound and make it his own, similar to Black Sweat.
It would be a good thing because they could bounce ideas off each other that I'm sure would be hot as Hell! __________________________________________________

Yeah it would be nice but P would never do it I just watched Justin ?Timberlake discuss his influences on Oprahs life class. He talked about Michael, Stevie, Donnie Hathaway, he even mentioned D'Angelo. Not a word on Prince... Not one single word. He talked about the song SexyBack and how that song was his attempt to really establish himself.... And all I could think about is how Prince claimed Sexy never went anywhere and created a public thing with Justin. As Justin continued to talk in depth about Stevie and Michael influences I remembered that he hired Princes drummer and base player and Sonny T. Cleary the dude is influenced by Prince. He reeks of 80s Prince. If you haven't heard Not a bad thing from JT check it out. Happy by Pharrell or tightrope (written by janelle with Bruno) or locked out of heaven by Bruno These people are writing circles around P. His ego will never allow him to work with these men. Chocolate Box... Have Pharrell produce that song or Black Sweat.... Those songs are better. It's a shame that P is so irrelevant .... But it's his own fault Dance... Let me see you dance

P is not writing RB records with those kinds of hooks or that are sonically and lyrically like that. He writes Chocolate Box... Shall we print those lyrics out? Or how about his embarrassing panting? You have to know P can't write songs that sound like that anymore. Seriously you gave got to know that Dance... Let me see you dance

Yeah yeah we know Prince sucks now and needs Pharrell to get him back to a place he has no chance in hell of ever getting back to. But I still see little reason to compare him to people young enough to be his kids. Michael Jackson fell off creatively in his later years too. When Bruno, Justin and Pharrell are still churning out hits in their fifties then we'll talk.

You didn't like MJ's Invincible album? I thought it was pretty good. Trolls be gone!

> "Butterflies". I still think he fell off creatively in his later years, no matter how many hits he might've had. The jury is still out on Bruno because he's the baby of the group but Justin has known hitmakers behind him and Pharrell is a hitmaker himself. And isn't that Pharrell and Timbalands job description. They're knid of different than regular artists to me in that sense. But it's true Prince is unfocused and egomaniacal. Always has been. But it takes more then good songs to have hit records. Pharrell even said radio was dismissive of "Happy" and it flopped until he put out that 24 hr video. Gimmick. Elton John had a return-to-form record out some years ago. No hits were generated. Should he have hooked up with Pharrell for a fresh hit? Sting has been out of commision for a while. Maybe he's in line for one.

Yup. And if you find the Rolling Stone interview when he first dropped "Future Love Sounds" (or whatever that album was called) they asked him why he named the album what he did. His response? "Because Purple Rain was already taken." Make it so, Number One...

. Right up Prince's alley. Rubin is a tastemaker more than anything. He's paid to sequence records, and act as an A&R, life coach type. Picking out which songs belong on a record is pretty much his thing these days. Sort of perfect, but I also can't picture Prince signing up for that, or having Rick glide in at the end to take credit for a project. I don't see Prince arriving at camp Rubin and hanging around is mansion in white linens though. . Pharrell? I can see that story ending like the Madonna one, only it would be Prince's body guard saying "You can't talk to him like that". [Edited 5/28/14 20:58pm]

To me, it seems like the music business is like a merry-go-round. It spins and spins until everyone's ride is over and they have to get off and let the next generation to come in. Some don't know when to quit though... Trolls be gone!
