What I don't get - Prince goes after blogs that host material - but not the "labels" who make pressed discs of those same boots and sell them at $50+ each?

Good question.

Possibly a lawsuit against an individual producing a physical product

is more complicated.

These lawsuits against web sites may be more a threat that will shut down

the site and thats all he wants.

Has he ever taken a web site all the way to court or does he let things go

if the site stops making music available?

I am not really that much of a fan anymore that I care much, but it's sad for the fans who enjoyed these sites and the ones who put effort into it to create them without earning money with it IMO. I understand that Prince wants to control his work, but doing things like this is making him lose more and more fans.

sarcasm i hope...the boots keeps the fans interested. Fans still pay for what gets released...which happens to be the philosophy of the majority of the defendants listed in this lawsuit. We are just fans that want more, especially if it's from 80-88, imo.

Maybe someday Prince will listen to reason and hire someone to start issuing something like a bootleg series, vault series and the extremely overdue remasters (80's protoge albums too please)...which is what a majority of his HOF contemporaries are doing with their catalogs. Prince only wins releasing something like this. Fans are happy, money is made and his legacy grows. wildsign

That's what seems dumb to me. I would expect him to go after people who are making money on ebay and whatnot first and foremost.

Dude takes the money his fans pay him and uses it against us. Yes he's talented and all that lol but really every year he pulls some bullshit like this. Its really kinda sad to see him waste so much of his time and energy on shit like this. Its getting to the point that his letigations are all he's doing. Truly sad. Im surprised this site is still here after all these years-he has laid the hammer down on every other site. He really does hate his fans.

If it wasnt for bootleggers his career wouldve been over years ago. He has done so much to make people forget him and they have. Yes bootlegging is wrong, but how long is he gonna pursue these lawsuits? And who is next? Dude will even go after regular ass fans...really sad.

It seems the blogs were forcibly shut down at the same time this letter was drafted. He knew they'd be shut down, but this seems to be bigger than just that. According to the document, he wants a trial, with a jury???

My neighbor was having a yard sale. There was some tennis shoes I liked sitting out there on the lawn. It was a pair of green Celtic flavored '87 con's. I liked them and bought them.

I wanted something else tho. Just a simple want. I wanted the Lakers flavored purple and gold '87 con's. But he wasn't selling them. They were resting in the hallway closet on the upper shelf. I walked in his house and took them...and only them. I wanted them and he wasn't selling them so i took them. If he has other shoes I want for sale on the lawn, I will buy them...and I hope that me taking the purple and gold con's will demonstrate to him what I want and that me buying the Celtic flavored shoes(I DESPISE the '87 Celtics) will demonstrate that I will pay for shoes if he sells them. If he would have had them for sale...I would have bought them....but instead...I took them.

I mean everybody knows that purple and gold '87 con's sell. Magic johnsons signature shoe in a year the lake show took the NBA finals against their ultimate rivals..a decades worth of back and forth between the two...legendary. He knows and EVERYBODY knows the shoes would have gotten sold if he had sold them...IMO. He wins I win...if what he wants is to sell the shoes that is.
