I feel the same way, regarding The Continental off the Symbol album!! Its a totally kick ass joint, untill he brings in Carmen Electra to do that hideous bullshit rap!! Ruins the whole track!!!! sad sad sad

Wo it's the opposite for me. The Continental seemed like horrible stupid pop with no edge or hook, worse then Roxette, but then the rap part sounded good. I like the telephone filter on the voice too. Love the music.

Hate the music on the main part of the song!

I do think the cartoon Guns n Roses style ending to "Strays of the World" is kind of silly.

My mother thinks that the "FELLAS! (yeah!) How bad is this girl? (BAD!)...." portion of "Lolita" fucks it up. I have to agree with her on this one.

Eh, I think the rap and what follows is the best part of the song. WhenI first heard it till now.

the part after the rap is sublime nod

although i like the entire song, i do find it kind of a shame that "digital garden"

starts out so freakin' good and then just goes in another direction completely.

i just want that first portion of it to go on for a few more minutes. it's such an

interesting song and quite unlike anything he did before. the second part is a

cool part too, especially the guitar in the background, but i'd have liked it a lot

more if it was separate from the song.

Funny, Cat's rap is perhaps my favorite part of that fantastic song. But NovaBrkr, I totally agree with you about the "NPG! Get Rowdy! Get Rowdy Now!" in Undisputed. Until then, I was thinking "Finally, something I can play for my friends to show them Prince's brilliance!" And then I was like, "Nope; just another song that I'll be embarrassed to play for anyone."

And IstenSzek, I agree with you about "Digital Garden." I also like the whole song, but the first portion is just....unique, and incredibly funky, and unlike anything I'ev ever heard. And then it gets...well, not as funky. wink

I actually like that bit, as it's a throwback to The Time, but I think it goes on FAR too long. One go-around for girls and one for guys is enough. Think he does 3 times each side.

Thanks for all the responses.

I have to add that 1 bullshit incident that pissed me off was in the song Betcha by Golly wow on Emancipation. A strong and deep remake song that Prince really makes his own ...until
Muthafucka gets 2 the end with no fouls or penalties and fucks up a perfectly decent song when he feels the need to start confessing n apologising for not writing the damn song
No Prince...woulda worked out fine WITHOUT that bullshit neutral

Love 2 the 9's.

What? This songs my 2nd favorite song ever.

Its so perfect. Showcases Prince's smooth falsetto, then his deep voice. I love the band playing, great instruments. The chorus is fantastic. So good. Then the finale is catchy. The vocal work at the end is a good ending.

Dance girl, let me see that booty boom.

"The Question of you" is one of my all time favourites ... one thing that really annoys me though

is the sound at the beginning of the song, that I dig, just before the drum kicks in ... WTF ... seems completely superfluous to me and makes that part of the sing comic like which it for the rest of it ofcourse is far from.

Why is that part bullshit? If it's "called for" then how can it be considererd "bullshit"?

Because sometimes life calls for us to be silly n not make sense. Sometimes we have to just get abstract, unplanned and bullshit just to clear our minds and express our hearts smile

Just to add that the song Papa starts off as surreal and haunting. It captures a place in the performers psyche and childhood that tortures him and is a dark place he can never forget or forgive...but then Prince just had to go and add some bullshit.."don't abuse children or else they'll turn out like me" I mean really? REALLY muthafucka? lol

Ok SSF, you are right.. I actually agree with you somehow, wink

I have tried to leave the fan community several times but it ain't that easy.

Even though I don't like Prince's new songs from 2013 (mentioned again, sorry about that).. I have still been a fan of Prince since 1983. Damn I love the old Prince.

(I was a 100% huge Prince freak (fan) from 1999 until Emancipation was released in late 96 - then the trouble began for me),

Maybe I can't leave the org - I am still curious to know the latest about Prince, but I will try to keep my mouth shut - for some time.. for a while.

Sometimes it is better to keep silent, I agree with you on that.

How I wish Prince would finally come back with a strong album, and the original great albums re-mastered. I still pray for that. wink

(this was an answer to SSF, a bit off topic in the thread, sorry)...
