Jan 5, 1979--at the Capri, in Minneapolis (with a follow-up the next night). I would doubt it was filmed. From the descriptions I've seen, it wouldn't be that great.

Tour in support of Prince began in November of that year.

The Stones thing wasn't until October of 81; he'd toured for the Prince album in 79, toured as Rick James' opener in 1980, and toured in support of Dirty Mind in 80-81 before the Stones shows.

As to the earliest film--as far as circulating film, looks like a couple of shows from the 1981 Dirty Mind tour are the earliest making the rounds.

"Rumors have suggested that the booing crowd sampled in the song is from Prince's infamous opening act for the Rolling Stones, from October, 1981, but the samples in fact come from a sound library set by the company Sound Ideas "

Then why not the earlier shows?

Neither of those are before January 1979, and none are circulating AFAIK.
