Read this on the Breakfast Can Wait thread, very good news if true. Does anybody know the source of it?

Edit: Also, do we figure this will be a Lotusflower/MPLSound type deal? With both albums being sold together.

It's coming. Not from me, from the horse's mouth, so to speak. But it's reasonably well-known, I think, so thought I'd share here, too. Maybe the thread will be locked by luv4u, as rumour, but it's just a matter of time before we can officially celebrate in anticipation, so I thought we could start that ball rolling! I am EXCITED. Finally, some GOOD news! And better than I previously thought would be happening. I, for one, am eagerly anticipating The Breakdown, but trying to curb my enthusiasm just in case his studio offering isn't quite what I've hyped myself into believing it might be.

Fairplay, EddieC. I am definitely NOT the official source or the Oracle on this matter, but it's still worthwhile " soft news" for all of us that have been following the entire 2013 campaign, throughout all its nooks and crannies. I've been listening to Pearl Jam recently, for the first time, and I can only hope that the youth and fluidity of the 3rdEyeGirl band comes shining through as brightly as they have been cranking it out live (on the rock album). I am guessing the Doc might just announce it first.

Okay, all good. I can respect that. Back when I knew a few insiders at Paisley Park, I used to get torched here for dropping tid bits on Prince releases, and no-one understood that I simply couldn't (and wouldn't) name my sources.

Giovanni, this is for all intents and purposes an unnofficial news thread, before the news hits. All I would say is, where is Borishfishpaw when you need him? We can either enjoy silence or the pre-news release build up. If you want official news and sources, then it's always a case of waiting for Prince's official news channels to be given the go ahead. In the meanwhile, we've just got something for us all to chew on. This is not directed at you per se, but it serves little to no purpose getting too anal at this stage. We've got something else to look forward to for the year; an actual Prince ALBUM or two.

Now what I'm hoping for, is that both of these two albums have all new music (that we haven't heard)... Well, maybe except for 'Screwdriver', which I wouldn't mind on an album. 'Big City' is another one that I'd love to hear on an album.

he has been hyping this year up since new years. i think we all know an album or two is going to be released sometime this year. So tell us something we don't know.

Cool. And, of course, I get all of that; but Prince can be a little slow on releasing "news", even when we come to know something is coming to pass. I am just very, very GLAD to hear that an actual PRINCE album has been seriously worked on. In some ways, it's a risk to release BOTH albums, which could circumvent the success of the 3rdEyeGirl project, but I am guessing P doesn't concern himself with these kinds of concerns. It sounds to me like he's been working HARD behind the scenes creating something he feels proud of and comfortable as a major release, which is a welcome change to projects that feel thrown together, such as Planet Earth and 20Ten, much as I enjoyed both of them. It's been 3 years since 20Ten, so I'm guessing he's become all too aware of the fan anticipation for something BIG and WORTHWILE to add to his canon of studio work, which is perhaps why we've heard so much from off the cutting room floor, such as outtakes and previously considered items which have now been shelved (such as Groovy Potential and Menstrual Cycle). All in all, I am ready for a strong Prince release and, by the sounds of it, it appears that Prince is, finally, ready too. I would settle with killer organic instrumentation, from my own personal perspective.

Get real, Gohi. Prince changes on a whim whenever he feels like it; fanbase excitement is rarely something that puts him off; quite the contrary. In fact, he plays off us, and deliberately builds and hypes us. But will change if he thinks something's not quite right with his artistic vision. Fans don't have that inside track. If anything, this unofficial news being 'out' there is purely because he has 'okay'd' it to leak within the grapevine. He likes titillation. Surely, we all know this by now. There are some major no-go areas, as with anything, so I shall not go there (for obvious reasons) e.g. copyright and legalities.
