Exactly! If you actually have some kind of insider info that a song will be released in a day or two, what is the point of posting it other than to show how "in the know" you are? Although this may not have happened anyway (who knows how reliable any of these "sauces" are") if nothing else, I wouldn't be surprised if Prince would cancel or delay something just because word already got out. I wish the Org would go back to not allowing unsubstantiated rumors to be posted.

Whilst somewhat appearing to be an eccentric, P is also very much a creature of habit when it comes to release strategies - where has he demonstrated in the past that he has significantly changed his mind as a result of pre-release fan hype? It's a rhetorical question. A case in point: the 3121 album actually LEAKED before its scheduled release. Prince still released the album.

Of course, I could be wrong, but with a multi-channel deal in the pipeline (and to his satisfaction), it is just not realistic that P would somehow cancel projects because of pre-release fan hype. If anything, he cannot wait to release music, as and when he wants to. A case in point: Livestream and the downloads of new music, such as This Girl Thang.

Dr F himself, courtesy of P, has been hyping both Funk N Roll AND the two album release potential, for quite some time. If that is not co-created pre-release fan hyping, then it's difficult to know what is? But I very much doubt that such social media pre-release activity is the cause for any alleged delay. As far as I am aware, there is NO delay.

Furthermore, with P's own foray (some might say, onslaught) onto the social media scene, I very much doubt that he doesn't himself have a handle on the buzz on the street. The idea that this "news" has been mistakenly leaked is silly. P is behind the helm of these potential "news" leaks. So, there really is no need to prematurely assume such highly doubtful motives regarding the cancellation or delaying of projects.

Even Hannah's pre-hyping the release today. Should we assume that is part of the cause for the project to be delayed or simply part of a pre-release buzz strategy?

I think it's likely that this 2 album rumour came from "Dr. Funkenberry" as the source, albeit rather innocently. He speculated this as an idea a while ago.

Unfortunately, some folks have unrealistic expectations of Doc... that everything he says will become a tangible fact or event. Even if Prince told Doc that it was going to happen, it doesn't mean it will. Anything can change at any time... just like life itself.

Oh, I'm not dissappointed at all. Not much time has passed since you first mentioned this... just a few days ago, before SpiritOtter made it his/her own dedicated thread.

The fact that it wasn't from what DrFrankenberry said is good, because Doc made no definitive statement on that.

BUT... What happened to the rumour that Prince's next album was to be distributed through a French label in conjunction with Kobalt?
