Given just how many influences and genre-blending is infused within this album, it is making me think it is high time to revisit Common's Electric Circus and perhaps even D'Angelo's Voodoo. It's been a while since I heard such a consistent artistic effort...

Oh my, Oh my. I just listened to the final track of the album, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. Okay, it might be critiqued for being drenched in bubblegum ingredients, but that melody has got such a strong feel good factor. What a great, great, great little ditty. Scratch everything I mumbled before. This has got to be released. Phew!

I made a compilation of all Prince produced, co-written or otherwise performed on tracks with other artists, minus whole albums like The Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6. "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

Nice, rudedog! I don't suppose you have a quick copy and paste format of the tracklisting you compiled? I agree; it works better as a compilation of standalone songs or a few per artist, rather than whole albums.

Love this. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

After a couple listens, I'm getting kind of a Nikka Costa vibe... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Thanks for sharing this!
The P track is cool - just wish there was more vocals from Prince with Janelle
It sure would be cool to hear P's vocals on this entire track!
Now on to listening to the rest of the CD.... The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Good track. Looing forward to getting hold of the album.
Primetime is a cool track too. Starts off sounding a bit like a softer version of Pixies 'Where Is My Life' but has a real Prince vibe towards the end.

What a great album! They don't make music like this anymore. This is a great mix of modern, classical, latin, funk, hip-hop in a nice package that makes for timeless music.Good job Janelle and I'm glad Prince 'got his piece in' the project!! ThankUPrince!

Interesting choice to use falsetto on his verse but not on background vocals

Bob George - You got some stuff I didn't hear. I put what I thought you were missing or might have got wrong in bold/green:
Tell your preacher and your teacher Imma give you what you love Baby, take your time, (?? when ya give me some love)
Won't you gimmie what you love ___ in the night (_________???) Tell me ___???

The album sounds amazing. I like that I felt like I just listened to something, like I did when I played records in the 70s. Anyone who slept on her first record should check it out, it's equally as good - perhaps a bit more experimental which is why it didn't catch. I like that some of the arrangement remind me of early Stevie Wonder.

Are we sure that's Prince doing the backup vocals in the chorus? Just doesn't sound like him at all to me.
