Given just how many influences and genre-blending is infused within this album, it is making me think it is high time to revisit Common's Electric Circus and perhaps even D'Angelo's Voodoo. It's been a while since I heard such a consistent artistic effort...

Oh my, Oh my. I just listened to the final track of the album, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. Okay, it might be critiqued for being drenched in bubblegum ingredients, but that melody has got such a strong feel good factor. What a great, great, great little ditty. Scratch everything I mumbled before. This has got to be released. Phew!

Very nice Prince-ly touches, vocals and production. Does anyone have a list of 2000-onwards songs featuring Prince? It make for a interesting sideways glance for some of his studio work e.g. Common's Star 69 etc.

I made a compilation of all Prince produced, co-written or otherwise performed on tracks with other artists, minus whole albums like The Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6.

Nice, rudedog! I don't suppose you have a quick copy and paste format of the tracklisting you compiled? I agree; it works better as a compilation of standalone songs or a few per artist, rather than whole albums.

Thanks for sharing this!

The P track is cool - just wish there was more vocals from Prince with Janelle

It sure would be cool to hear P's vocals on this entire track!

Now on to listening to the rest of the CD....

Good track. Looing forward to getting hold of the album.

Primetime is a cool track too. Starts off sounding a bit like a softer version of Pixies 'Where Is My Life' but has a real Prince vibe towards the end.

Anybody got the lyrics?

I got most...can yall help me with the gaps...i cant fighre the m'n'f'n' shit out
[Janelle]
I am sharper than a razor
Eyes made of lazers
Bolder than the truth
They want me locked up in the system
Cuz im on a mission
Blame it on my youth

Too long ibeen out here on my own
Now im 'bout to bring it home
Like a rolling stone
I aint never been afraid to die
Look a man in the eye

[Chorus j/p]
I came to give ya what you love
Oooh its time to give you what you love
Imma give you what you love
Give ya what you love

[Prince]
I am sharper than a switchblade
First and last of what God made
And that's the truth
(Bud?)man keep on tryin' hold me back
While another chickenhead come home to roost
Too strong, try to do me wrong
And the last one standing _____
And commands you to dance...dance

Tell your preacher and your teacher

Chorus

[Janelle]
U better take your time, take what you love
Baby just enough, but never too much
Baby take your time, take what you love
And when that baby cry, (you better work?) with that baby
Take your time, take what you love
?????
Won't you gimmie what you love

Gonna give you some love

Nifty horn/guitar break

[janelle]
Two times _____ ceiling
_____
When they walked in the room, We didn't know what to do
One looked at me and i looked back
She said, "can you tell where the party's at
She followed me back to the lobby
Yeah, she was lookin' @ me with some undercover love
?????

A couple rtis i couldn't decipher to save my life...my bad

And copy and save somewhere...they might get taken down...and i cant type this up again on this phuckin phone screen.

What a great album! They don't make music like this anymore. This is a great mix of modern, classical, latin, funk, hip-hop in a nice package that makes for timeless music.Good job Janelle and I'm glad Prince 'got his piece in' the project!! cool
ThankUPrince!

The album sounds amazing. I like that I felt like I just listened to something, like I did when I played records in the 70s. Anyone who slept on her first record should check it out, it's equally as good - perhaps a bit more experimental which is why it didn't catch. I like that some of the arrangement remind me of early Stevie Wonder.
