Will Prince ever Act again?

Remember Prince was scheduled to play Little Richard? I'm glad he didn't but I still would like to see him in films (as character not himself). Back in the 80s he was supposed to Do a Sci Fi movie, that never happened.

How bout if he made a guest appearance on Hollywood Exs with Mayte.

Damn Prince come out the woodwerks but don't make another Graffiti Bridge but I always thought he'd be perfect as Dr Frank n furter.
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

Obviously it would never ever happen, but i've always imagined Prince would be great in a

Tarantino movie, as a cameo appearance, doing something comedic.

No. Prince should leave acting alone. I think Prince has concluded that acting is not something he is good at, hence "Graffitti Bridge" being his last movie. BTW, what drug are you taking to think Prince would make a guest apparance on ANY reality show, much less a reality show starring his first wife?

Very good idea.

He could. Don't know if he would. IMHO, he would benefit by starting out with a minor supporting role and not have the character be a musician.

The real question is has he ever acted? The jury is out on that.

I thought P would have been a good choice for the role of Cinna in the Hunger Games. It went to Lenny Kravitz though.

For some reason, I always imagined him playing the Devil.

"So newbie soul, were you good to your family and believed in God?"

"Yes."

"Good to hear. So why are you down here?"

I thought he was great in Fargo. biggrin I actually believe that he could be a good to great actor if he had sum great material to work with and a director that didn't put up with his shit. He's obviously funny, and would be believable as a character actor. The problem is his ego. I'm sure he thinks of himself as a leading man only, and wouldn't consider anything other than a leading role in something. Also, his JW beliefs might conflict with any role in any movie. Too bad, cuz I think he has charisma to burn and has the correct work ethic to be a supremely entertaining character actor.

Could one safely say the best acting Prince ever did was on that "Muppet Show" episode?

Short Critique of Acting Styles of Prince in three major movies:

Purple Rain: Amateurish but not terrible. Best scenes is where he did the overconfident swagger thing he does so well ("Don't worry about it Billy, "That ain't Lake Minnetonka). Worst scenes are when he tried to look angry and just came off as a petulant child denied the ice cream cone he so desires. When he hear the crowd's applause after playing Purple Rain he does his worst and best acting. The pacing up and down just looks downright silly but the smile of finally understanding what was going on was classic.

Under the Cherry Moon: Mixed bag. Many of the comic bits are brilliant. Many of the extreme close-ups showing his superhuman sexiness are cheesy and almost unwatchable. The scene where he writes "F you" on the check that Mrs. Wellington gives him as "Anotherloverholenyohead" starts to play is stone cold classic. The death scene with the one strand of blood hanging from his mouth after a shotgun blast is just downright ridiculous. Prince should have fired the director who directed him on that scene.

Graffiti Bridge: Some of the worst acting, outside of a porn movie, I have ever seen. Prince seems drugged. His emotion runs the gamut from A-B...he's angrily pouty in half of the scenes and depressingly pouty in the other half. One of the problems is that there are no actors to work off of. At least in PR, he had W and L as dramatic foils/allies and Morris as his evil counterpart. P interacts almost not all with Morris and his band has no one who interjects anything except for TC Ellis. The only worse actor in the movie is Ingrid Chavez who gave a performance that destroyed her chances to act, sing or even work in a Starbucks after her turn as an angel/feather.

He directed himself, that's why it was so bad.

As a major movie fan, i think his acting was pretty solid in Purple Rain, but it was definitely "80's acting."

I think it is true that there is a bit of acting going on in many of his record and stage performances. On many levels acting is creating an emotional moment that is shared with an audience and that is something that Prince and other live acts are great at doing.

If he were to act again it would need to be something completely separate from his own persona de jour.

i believe it was in a Rolling stone interview that he mentioned that he was going to do a movie about the life of Robert Johnson; that would have been amazing.

Spike Lee was once asked if he would do a movie with Prince and if he through Prince was a good enough actor. Lee replied that Prince already proved he was a good actor, in PR.
