what, literally, is the vault?

it's one of the biggest stories we buy in to, as a prince fan.

sometimes i picture it as a big room, with a huge lock on the front. the kind of lock they use at banks. there's a guard at the front, who knows the combination to get in. you walk in, and there's thousands of perfectly organized drawers with tapes, CDs & reel-to-reels.

but what if it's just a hard drive? an iMac with a bunch of MP3s, organized in folders?

what if it doesn't even exist?

hmmmm ...

It's Prince's name for his vagina.

One day, he's going to open it, and when that day comes, there will be peace. purse

Hmm. Is that thing hanging on the door the same as what's on the speaker on the right-hand side of the Sign O' the Times cover?

We got to look inside the Vault on one of the tours of Paisley Park during the celebrations although I think the tours got worse and worse as time went on and that part might have been dropped. It was just was sitting open with a rope in front of it. Just a million video cassettes and boxes of that were probably tapes.

For the sake of longevity I really hope he's taken/taking measures to convert all the archived video cassettes to DVD and audio tapes to digital... Just so they don't decay and disintegrate over time.. It will be a huge loss otherwise sad

there's music in the air
the sounds of joy and celebration

In one of the books I read, one of his engineers was getting stuff ready for the Crystall Ball release and he had stuff laying everywhere. Tapes all over the place on the carpets outside of the vault and there was a water leak and many of the tapes got wet. They told Prince about it and Prince didn't really seem to care too much. But I would be a nervous wreck knowing I may have lost a bunch of masters of vault material.

Sorry I still do not know how to post pics after all these years.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
