I'd say his Hit n' Run tour of 2000...well, I've only been to two others-- Lovesexy tour and One Night Alone, but the Hit n' Run tour was a disappointment!! He sang medleys and he didn't even sing a song from his Rave album which was the last album that came out when he went on tour for that concert...

Well to date I have seen him 41 times, I have seen him in every type of setting (clubs,theatres,large venues, paisley) an I have been satisfied with 99% of the shows, however the one show I really feel letdown by was the JONES BEACH show in 1997. The sound was really bad, Prince was great but his sound got lost in that type of setting.

One of the love4oneanother shows was in DC in the hood.
It was even a general admission show.
We get there, its in a very bad part of DC...
no where to park except for on the street or in the alley. Drug dealers right there on the corner...
hookers on the other corner.
We had one of the homeless men that where laying around watch the car and told him IF we had all the hub caps left on the car when we got back then we would pay him.
Of course we had to stand out there forever...
had to go to the bathroom on the other corner at a strip bar.
Finally when we get in the venue, it was run down...
all the walls were black and the windows were blackend out.
This was one of the DCs Go-Go club.
Prince and Larry finally take the stage after 2 hours worth of waiting outside and after 1 hour wait inside.
It was real hot inside...people all pushed up on you cuz it was general admission...
the men started to take off their shirts cuz they were sweatin...
so now u got all these sweaty men with their shirts off all up on you...
then Larry gets the bright idea to tell the crowed to "Jump Jump"...ohhh i was so mad.
I couldnt wait to get out of there and go home and take a shower...
when it was over, the car was alright and our car watcher was still laying there...we gave him $20.00 and got the hell outta dodge.

Wow Pluv. I had a Jam of The Year one in Chicago with the drug dealers smoking pot on the corner and we had to line up in the ally all day for the GA show. It was scary but I don't think that one was as bad as yours. People were walking by selling milk crates lol.
The worse was a Love4OneAnother in Ky. I think it was the first concert he started checking ID's with tickets. It was a GA concert too. We were in line all day, let in late, had to get ID's checked then had to wait 2 hours in a very small lobby for them to let us in. When we got in we had to wait another hour for him to start playing. It was so freaking hot, I have never in my life been that hot. The building was just like a big ugly box, I don't think it had one window in the whole place. The concert started at like 11:00. People were all smacked to the front. People were fainting, it was awful! At some point the security guards started tossing out water because of all the people fainting. People would take one drink and pass the bottle on so others could get a drink, it was sick but needed. (btw I didn't drink after anyone lol) I could go on and on with bad things that happen there. I was up front for a bit but said fuck this and started to get out, BUT people were so mad and didn't want to give up their spot they thought I was trying to cut so no one would let me out. I keep saying "I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm not cutting, I'm leaving." WOW it was BAD. When I got out I was so happy. I got a drink and found a seat up high and enjoyed the rest of the show. I believe this was the last concert he played "The CROSS" at
On the way to the after party my friend took her shirt off and held it out the window going down the interstate so it would dry lol.

Wembley stadium 93

Too big a venue and the atmosphere suffered, although the show was good.

Nude Tour 1990, Wembley arena, my first Prince concert. It didn't live up to the magic I had watched on the SOTT and Lovesexy concert videos. The moral of the story was to let go of my expectations!

The show I saw a few years ago (I can't remember the exact date, but I think it was early in 2000) had the worse sound system I've ever heard at any concert. Nobody in my section was up and dancing because the sound system wasn't powerful enough to carry through the whole auditorium. It was an auditorium filled to 6,000 capacity. Whatever sound system Prince was using was insufficient for the venue.

People were so desperate to hear that they started leaving their seats and pushing into the aisles near the front, creating a tightly packed bottle-neck in the aisles.

The afterparty was even worse. Hundreds of people paid $20 admission basically for nothing. We were packed into the club like sardines, with Prince's people at the door collecting the cash. The club was so tightly packed that when Prince finally arrived (2 hours after they started letting people into the club) the security guards linked arms and started shoving the crowd to make a path so Prince could get to the VIP area. It was awful, it was impossible to even turn around. People were pressed in tight against each other. A girl standing next to me lost her shoe and started to cry that she was "trapped" and wanted to go home.

After all that, waiting for hours packed in with hundreds of people, then being pushed and shoved by security, Prince stays for less than 10 minutes. I'm not kidding. Prince came into the club, stayed in the VIP area with some radio station honchos for a few minutes, then the security guards came through again, pushed a path open for him, and Prince left.

When Prince came back through my city about a year later, an afterparty was held at the same club. But this time, the club was only half as full as the last time. I guess the fans who felt ripped off from the previous afterparty decided not to bother the second time around.

Love 4 one Another- (Emancipation Celebration) In N.Y. Roseland Ballromm. Jan. 11, 1997. An hour & half outside in the frezzing cold! Another hour inside (HOT ASS HELL)!! There was a life size cardboard cutout of Prince on stage. His heart wasn't in it. It was a short half assed set. He wasn't feeling it from the audience either. It was a bad night for everyone:-( Before this the last concert I saw was Lovesexy at Madison Square Garden. GREAT SHOW!!! The energy in that place was incredible!!! It's easy to tell when Prince is having a great time on stage & giving his all. It's also easy to tell when he's bored out of his mind.

I've never been to a Prince show that went smooth. Something will always suck.

Either everybody waits in the heat or in the snow and cold for a couple hours, or he cuts the set short, or the sound sucks so bad that you can't hear unless you're in the front, or he cancels the soundcheck, or there's a shitty party with no aftershow, or his security is doing some bogus shit at the door so you can't get in, or you pay to get into a Prince party and he hides in a DJ booth, or you pay for a premium ticket and you still need binoculars to see, and on and on

I guess mine would be the Hit "n' Run tour June 5th, 2001, in support of The Rainbow Children, in MPLS. The show was awesome, but the time leading up to it sucked.

The NPGMC sound check was supposed to start at a posted 7:00pm, and the show at 8:00pm. He had the large and local KDWB radio station there and they were broadcasting live from Excel Area. The buzz in the air ws great, and exciting, but...

As we all stood in line for what seamed forever, we hear that Prince had fired the sound crew, for what ever reason. All the NPGMC members, were not let in until almost 8:00pm. After what sound like the end of sound check, they let us all in to the concesions area. All 14,000 of us. Packed in like f'in sardines,pushed up against a bunch of hot smelly people. At some point it seemed like it was hard to breathe.

The buzz in the air was no longer fun and energized, but mean, hot and like what is this guy doing? One lady looked at me and said: "you know, this is the first time I have ever seen Prince, and I think it will be my last."

Finally around 8:30pm they let us sit down in our seats. I just sat there thinking this show had better be worth all this shit. It was the first time my wife had ever seen Prince also! Thank god she never got pissed, not once. She had learned alot (probably more than she wants to) about Prince through me. So this little stunt didn't really surprise us.

The show was great, not as good as let's say...Lovesexy, but great none the less. But everything before hand sucked-ass.

I had written about my experiences at a Prince afterparty on the old org a couple years ago when it first happened. I wrote about how it felt to be squeezed into a club, pressed up so tight against other people that you could barely move. Even if you tried to get out, you cannot leave the crowd because people are packed in too tightly.

At the time, I remember some people posting on the thread and implying that I was just a whiner upset that other people were getting into the VIP area and I wasn't.

But in the aftermath of what has happened in crowded clubs -- 98 people killed in a fire in one club and 21 killed in another club in Chicago, I think people now realize that's it not just "whining" when people complain about being packed into a club and shoved and pushed around by security guards until you can't move.

I know a couple of Prince fans who will go to a Prince concert, but they never go to any of the aftershows or parties. Now I know why.

I will never go there again, Prince or no Prince.

It was aweful, that strip bar on the corner where we had to go into to go to the bathroom was aweful, there were 2 hookers right there right on the corner...a man standing on the corner all jittery and shaky askin us if we needed anything as we walked by him...no cops in site...the club workers didnt know what in the world they were doing..the people who were waiting in line were getting very angry...a fight almost broke out..2 men yelling and cursein each other, telling one another to "come on u got somthing to say to me...come on" all up in his face, having to be pulled back...I was there, I experienced it, where were you???...did u come late?...are you used to this kind of behaivor?...or are you just not that observent?...lol...I have went from DC, to PG county, now I am in Rockville...I dont know about you but I aint used to that kind of behavior...my friend who I was with was more acustomed to dealing with what went on, and they couldnt believe Prince lowered himself to play at a club like that...sorry your used to it.
Give me the Warner Theather, MCI, Stoneridge...or even Constitution hall (although the sounds is aweful)...thats what Im used to...not some hole in the wall venue like that nite.
The Capital Center in PG county used to be the place where Prince played in the 80s...as things got bad Prince dropped that place...the last show he did at the capital center there were junkies with the shakes roaming outside all over the dayum place...sorry but thats not my scene.

The worst was probably when I bought scalper tickets that were advertised as row 10. They turned out to be row 10 of the 2nd section back so it was more like row 60!

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- By the end, it was hard to tell the players from the party.

Prince, who celebrated the reclaiming of his name with six days of public tours of his Paisley Park studios in Chanhassen, punctuated the whole experience Tuesday night with 3 1/2 hours of pure,fly-by-the-seat-of-your-purple-pants funk at the raucous, sold-out Northrop Auditorium. He called the whole mess " Prince: A Celebration."

At best, the show was spontaneously intimate and honest. At worst, it was chaotic, monotonous and unpolished. But by the finale, Prince' s no plan, no rules approach degenerated into a cacophony of sight and sound.

It didn' t help that Prince invited so many people from the first few rows on to the stage that audience members crowded out the musicians
-- and there were plenty of musicians.

More than 30 bodies pulsed and twisted on the theater stage: A marshmallowy woman in a pink jumpsuit, a gaggle of small children, a singer, a skinny kid with spidery moves, some sparkling girls that Prince had beckoned with a nod, another singer, bassist Larry Graham, more singers, dancers, rappers, horn-blowers ... feeling dizzy?

Among the musical melee, pulling the strings, was the diminutive puppetmaster himself:

Dragging reluctant musician friends from backstage, beckoning more girls up to dance, jangling on his hollow-body guitar, conducting the horn section, barking orders at the lighting director and expending more energy than all the rest of them combined.

But it wasn't at this uproarious end that the performance ceased to be a polished concert. In fact, it never really was a concert at all.

What fans from around the world were served was one of Prince' s famous, invite-only, all-night Paisley Park jam sessions -- but on a much larger scale and at $50 a pop.

There were moments when Prince donned one of his signature guitars and unleashed the kind of blistering power-rock leads that put the power in New Power Generation.

Early in the night, Prince' s deep purple, six-stringed glyph steered the band through the hairpin turns of a nitro-burning " Delirious" that digressed from high-voltage pop into jazz -- then a jarring heavy metal interlude -- and closed on one of those caterwauling, ear-splitting Prince solos that sends the rest of the players into sit-still-and-watch mode.

And at midpoint, Prince led the band through a cursory medley of popular hits, beginning with a truncated " Nothing Compares 2 U, " followed by an even more severely shortened " Take Me with U" and " Raspberry Beret."

But the majority of the time was filled with extemporaneous, guitarless, loping funk grooves, R&B clunkers and evangelism; Prince opened and closed the show with the message " Love is God. God is Love."

The Artist's show at the Capitol Ballroom in Washington, D.C, began at 10:15 a.m. and concluded around 12:40 a.m. The venue was not the greatest in the world, and The Artist asked several times for a janitor to come out and sweep the stage. Not generating any reaction from the venue personnel, he grabbed a broom himself and started to sweep the stage. The Artist was very talkative throughout, even commenting at one point that CD's only cost 83 cents each to produce and complained that artists/musicians are not getting paid for their body of work (he cited TLC, Toni Braxton, Chaka Khan, and Larry Graham as examples).

Chaka Khan was not present for the show due to a passport problem that prevented her from returning from Europe in time. Doug E. Fresh filled in for her instead. The first portion of the show included "Days Of Wild," "Thank You (Fallettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)," "Everyday People, "Push It Up," "Free," "Purple Rain," and "Face Down." While The Artist was off changing outfits, Fresh took over for a performance of "La-Di Da-Di," "The Show," "Bustin' Loose," and "2001." He also led the audience in the "Freaks on this side" chant, and during the jam dancer Kamilah Wohlford joined everyone onstage. The Artist returned for "The Jam," which concluded the main set. The Artist was back with The NPG for an encore of "Let's Go Crazy," "She's Always In My Hair," "U Got The Look," "Kiss," "Baby, I'm A Star," and "1999."

the worst concert was the hit and run tour at irvine meadows it was outside at night, we had shity seats and larry graham was the opening act. i thought since i was in anehiem that no doubt was going to be the opening act. remember when the hit and run tour was gonna have suprise acts like; chaka khan, lenny kravitz, and no doubt. i didn't remember hearing anything about larry graham. i was pissed and cold. the only thing i remember from that concert was prince was getting ready to sing darling nikki and he stopped and said no i can't sing it and the guy behind me was yelling go on prince sing that song it's okay, while he was getting blazed up, that was hilarious.

Believe it or not, 'Purple Rain', for these reasons:

- The Revolution was not a particularly good band, no matter what anyone says. Certainly not in the same league with the musicians he works with now.

- All the dance moves, etc. were aped STRAIGHT from the movie. It felt stiff, unspontaneous and packaged to me.

- The acoustics in the venue (Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA) are (were) notoriously horrible.

I went to this same show in Chicago. We had to line up in an alley. I was with a friend of mine and we were like 20th and 21st in place, but by the time everyone let their friends up, we were like 200th and 201st. After waiting in line for three hours, we were treated inside to waiting another two hours. The worst part? The show being a showcase for Chaka Khan and Larry Graham. I will never attend another GA show or afterparty, even if it is Prince.

as 4 the show itself? s'okay. i didn't like all them people standin around me (not 2 mention the couple in front of me that were makin out durin the whole concert )...

I didn't think I could have a bad experience at a Prince show until the summer of'98, he had a show at Pine Knob just outside of Detroit...he ad been on-stage for about 30 minutes and during his waredrobe change, the stage crew messed up his prop...so when he returned to the stage and this big black backdrop didn't open correctly, he simply dropped the mic and walked off...the band played for about 2 minutes and then the house lights came up and that was it...I was highly pissed off...However, he came back in December of the same year and had a show at the Palace of Auburn Hills that more than made up for the first show...Prince took the stage at 8:00 pm and at 1:30 am when I was worn out and left...he was still on stage going strong and rocking the house.
