Prince & the Revolution. Will They ever work on a brand new album again?

Anybody think the old gang will get back together again and record new material? Or possibly even tour again? How great would that be??????

No.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

the only thing that would actually sound like "prince and the revolution" is completed

songs from 83/85 that are left in the vault.

hitching up together again after all those years it would probably be a nice thing to

see what they'd come up with but it wouldn't be what people are looking for when

they fantasize about this band getting back together. it would sounds like most stuff

prince does these days, be it with a bit of a twist.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

it would be nice to see the Revolution and his purple highness on the stage together again, playing something purple.

But a new album project might turn out rusty, I don't think that would turn out good.

It wouldn't be Purple Rain part 2, and I'm thinking that is what would piss people off the most.

I would be cool to see him mixe 1982-1986 band members with 3rdEG band members and do performances

Wendy & Lisa had bit parts on the Planet Earth album, and it didn't help at all. I think the magic was gone.

I would love to see them on stage performing classic material, and even stuff that was put in the Vault from that period, but I don't think I'd like to hear them do new stuff. Then again, I'd most likely buy it hoping to be surprised.

Notice, I don't say it'd piss me off.

I personally don't care. I believe sometimes an artist only duty is to be true to their own art.

I don't know that I care to see a band which is a tribute band for itself.

I don't recollect that Wendy and Lisa are on good terms with him, especially with the gay marriage comments.

True, he's never worn an afro or produced an all-girl trio. Oh wait . . .

That's not going back! Its moving 4ward. Prince always changes his look & produces females(this time that can actually sing & play instruments),changes band members trio or not. Its called being creative. Purple hater rolleyes

You can't compare face to face studio work like in 1983-1986 all night jam sessions, to passing a track thru cyberspace from Minni to LA and asking them to put something on it.

I like your positivity but I could tear that statement up in shreads with example after example of Prince 'going back' Not to mention he plays mostly the music created with that band most of the time.

.

at the 2006 Brit Awards show when he kissed Tamara on the cheek during the Purple Rain performance...

.

When on the Lopez show and he strapped the drum kit on and synced with Sheila ala SOTT drumming...

.

at the Coachella show and he had Morris Day & Jerome open, then followed by Sheila E and said "now this is how the Purple Rain tour was supposed to be..."

.

In 1999 when he was actually going to get the Revolution back and do the Roadhouse Garden album

.

fella I can go on & on & on about his 'not going back'

No. Criticizing and analyzing whether or not one may be revisiting or paying tribute to previously used ideas does not make a person a hater.

Even if it did happen, I'm positive Prince will find a way to make the album suck so bad, peeps will be clamoring for the good ol' days of NewpowerSoul.

But you can "compare" sending tracks back and forth through cyberspace to Wendy and Lisa to the sending of rolls of tape to Wendy and Lisa and "asking them to put something on it."

Prince always looks to the future and expands as much as possible. His legacy and hits will always be with him and the fans at shows, but his career is always moving forward.

Maybe some of the old band members from the Revolution, but not all of them. I think that shipped sailed in 1999.

I think Prince can't afford the $ the Revolution wants to share in the publishing end of a record deal. ( (Do to current Cd sales.)

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
