There is nothing dumber than asking people to pay for songs they can't first listen to. Seriously, does that make any sense? Previews are essential. I will happily download these songs illegally to see if I like them. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I know that this is just because I'm old and stuck in the past (two separate things--some of you are only one of them, and some of you are neither) but most music I've paid for in my life I haven't heard first. I bought lots of albums with only one or two familiar songs--and even if I was just buying a single, I didn't know the b-side. I never saw listening stations until the nineties, and even most of those I encountered only played snippets--and I can't tell diddly squat about a lot of songs from those. Ultimately, they're often not much more useful than a single scene from a movie, or even worse, since they sometimes seem chosen at random by people with no idea what they're doing. I can't really say whether I "like" a song based on them.
Now, if an artist had let me down repeatedly in the past when I bought things based on a general liking for his or her work, I might want to know a little more. Prince hasn't done that for me, on the whole. I realize that he has let a lot of others down, more often than not the last several years. I get the hesitancy. I just don't share it. |

Ditto. I paid my money, no email with download links.
I do get an email confirming my account creation and my username.. I try to login and get 'username not recognised'.
I email 3rdeyegirl for support and get sod all response.
Prince's web presence is more consistent than his music. Consistently rubbish! "I'm much too hot to be cool" |

The download link usually appears on the 3rdeye girl purchasing page, in a very, smail font, (about a size 8), directly under the name of the song or video you purchased. The download link is kind of easy to miss because the font is very smail. It usually appears no more than 5 to 10 seconds after you purchase with paypal. You click on it, and it should start downloading. All the songs I purchased open in Windows Media player without any problems once downloaded.
I use Google Chrome to open the 3rdeyegirl site, when purchasing a song, because I find that I don't have any trouble when I use Google Chrome. I didn't register my info with the 3rdeyesite, so I don't log in with a username, I just click on song/vid to purchase, and type in the required info to purchase a song. |

My experience is the same as yours, 2elijah--after I pay with paypal, it sends me back to the purchasing page with the link under the product listing. I do have a user name now, which lets me go back later, but I made my first few purchases without onet, and it still gave me the links directly on the purchase page. I've never done anything with the emails, nor seen any links in them.
Of course, I've also gotten all my free T-shirts and they've all fit, so I might just be blessed.

It's not dumb, it's genius. Or the only way they can make money. It's a genius market, you pay money for something you have no idea what it is. To make a thief, make an owner; to create crime, create laws. |

Question my fandom just because I dont buy everything Prince puts out? Wow! Really? I have been listening to Prince since 81 probably before some of u were born and no I dont own everything he ever released This thread was really just to see who had brought the tracks and not for people to get on here say all kinds of fucked up things! Some of ya'll need a life, a fucking job or just something to get you away from THE ORG And yeah Prince does need to hire me to keep these crazy mofo's here inline! Just amazed that songs can make people become internet gangsters n shit
Don't you know that Prince is your Lord and Saviour? You're supposed to buy every single thing he makes no matter how shitty it sounds and if it does sound shitty, you're supposed to lie and praise it. If he farts, you're supposed to be there to smell it. And if he tells you to drink poisoned Kool-Aid, you're not supposed to question it, you're just supposed to drink it. Now, get in there and be a good little fam before you end up getting a spanking for being defiant. Reminds me of summin I said on the Jimmy Fallon thread. BobGeorge909 said: Org "lady": Prince came over and tucked me silly. 5 hours straight...candles, incense, sweat, and screams. 23 positions. Scents and lotions...he covered it all. But u know...he didn't nut on my face when he was done....so it was all a worthless, pointless disgusting waste of time. He's a daft arrogant asshole.
There's no clear correlation here...like I said it just kinds reminded me of it. Plus I like my quote and wanted another spot to spit it. If it made sense or not....LOL. |

I haven't because they're downloads. I'll take a free download but I've never paid for a download from any artist and never will because a download is no more than if a friend made you a cassette copy back in the day or CD-R copy in present times. It's niot an actual original physical product where you feel like you have the original rather than just a homemade copy.
And yes, I realize it's only 88 cents also but I'm not putting any of my personal credit card information on the internet to possibly experience identity theft. There's too many ways to get ripped off through the internet once somebody gets your personal numbers. Either release a physical album and sell it either in stores or through Amazon, or I'm not buying it.
I was talking about digital audio with a friend and he adviced me to save up some money and buy a cd-player where you can attach a usb-stick to. So, you can easily transfer and listen to the files.
Just a tip:
SKYTEC STX90 - SINGLE TOP CD-/USB-/MP3-player
I don't need it. I've got my computer plugged into my stereo so I can shake the walls with the songs I have in it. I'm still not buying no download though. I'll take a free download, but I'm not buying one because it's not a physical product. Sure, if it were a physical product, I'd just rip it in my computer and put the CD in the closet with the rest of them but at least I'd have a physical product in the closet. Plus, I find it pointless to pay for anything that ends up on a homemade CD because if you want to make a homemade CD, you can sure find the songs for free eventually. A physical CD from a label, manufacturer, or whatever is never for free unless somebody just gives it to you. Any which way....U're buying 1's and 0's. |

but don't you want to support the artist? sure i'd like it on cd but it isn't on a cd. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

And to those complaining about someone not printing a a CD up and sticking it in a plastic sleeve....that is like 2% of the cost. What U're paying for is skill, musical production costs, aggravation, time, and promotion.
I think it would b cool if the artist gave u a pallet of art u could use to make choices and help create your own packaging. Leave it defined or leave choices more narrowed. Let u be as much of a part of that process that they want u to be, on not involved at all. |
