Prince should always have an official website. He said that Warner Brothers could not handle his output. So I would like to see the output that they couldn't handle. A website where he could release songs when he wants is the perfect idea. As long as he consistently puts up new music. He raves about all these songs so I say......Put your money where your mouth is. Let the fans hear this music.

I will pay top dollar for the videos of any of the these three concerts (NOTE: I AM NOT ASKING FOR BOOTLEGS; IN FACT, I KNOW BOOTLEGS OF THESE SHOWS DO NOT EXIST):

1. San Antonio Musicology tour, June 9, 2004

2. Houston Musicology tour, Show #1, August 6, 2004

3. Houston Tamar show, MArch 4, 2006

Beyond that, I'll buy pretty much anything Prince wants to sell. However, I'd probably only buy one or at most two DVDs of a particular tour.

A sure way for Prince to....

1. Please his fans

2. Make a good bit of $

and

3. Guarantee interest in his future releases

would be for him to revisit the Crystal Ball II idea. Just speaking for me personally, I'd probably pay double the price for this CD than one where he picked his own songs.

Think about it. Say he puts out a collection of unheard songs he chose, which would probably be some of the more recent stuff he's recorded, I'd probably pay $15.00 for it. However, if he let the fans pick the outtakes they chose (like he was originally gonna do with Crystal Ball II), I'd gladly pay $30.00 for that one. Granted, he'd probably not include some of the dirty stuff. But even if he didn't, there's still plenty of good stuff around that we would want to hear in excellent quality.

He could do the same with video releases. Take the 2009 show he's previewing on his site. He may charge $20.00 for each one. I'm sorta interested in it (not to mention that a lot of people already have it). However I REALLY REALLY WANT a pro-shot Act I tour DVD. I'd probably pay $30.00 or $40.00 for it.

Basically, Prince could realease what he wants and charge a certain fee. Then he could take a poll or vote to see what most of the fans want, give it to them, and charge more for it. And he could take preorders if he wanted to make sure he'd make enough $ for him to be satisfied.

I would welcome any new music live, jams or studio! I also don't understand why some are so against MP3 and FLAC?? With the problems in the past with shipping cds and t-shirts. I would like to be able to purchase FLACs of live/studio. It would make distribution easier and if Prince did want to increase the amounts of music he released! it makes sense. Sure, I love getting a physical cd but also I like the idea of Prince releasing music he recorded last week instead of having to go thru channels. He can play a show and sell me the FLAC file day later. How much better than that?? I like the option to buy the physical copy but while we wait for the mail give us the digital copy!

I also realize with downloading he should be worried about people not paying and waiting for leaks of course with digital releases they go straight to torrent. That's why I believe he should just start taking pre-orders on various goodies from the vault and when he reaches a set amount that he would be happy to sell his art. Just release it!! He will never stop all the downloading. When a new format emerges Im sure we will be upgrading from cd to blu-ray audio or something else? but he should know by now that technology only moves forward not backwards and sound can and always will be able to be recorded. So I believe he just needs to set a price on his art. No new format will ever set technology back at least not for 100s of years. If he is going to wait for a new fool proof technology he will have to wait I believe 300 years which is a long wait. So he needs to get the $$$$ up front.

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

New music - physical format (vinyl or CD).

Live concert video - physical format (optical media).

Live concert ticket - if time and space allow.

I won't pay for mp3s... ever. Won't do iTunes... ever.

And please have a decent company do the shipping without outrageous rates.

I would love to see over the next couple of years:

The start of his 1978-1995 back-catalog getting remastered, starting off with Purple Rain and 1999 and followed by Sign 'O' The Times and Parade. Available on 180-gram audiophile Vinyl/CD, FLAC and iTunes.

A new album that he puts time and effort into and with contributions from Wendy and Lisa. (I know, I know)

Available on 180-gram audiophile Vinyl/CD, FLAC and iTunes.

An album of some of the most highly regarded outtakes in their original versions (such as Old Friends 4 Sale) as well as unheard material.

The start of a new tour of the UK including a series of nights at the Royal Albert Hall including playing in full, albums such as Purple Rain, Parade and Sign 'O' The Times.

A comprehensive 5-disc anthology boxset featuring the hits, fan favourites, outtakes, and alternate takes.

The release of concerts from the archives on Blu-Ray/DVD in remastered sound and also available on CD.

A new 2-disc best of compilation from Warners, Prince: Greatest Hits (1978-1991)

A new compilation of his most important/best songs from 1994 to 2010 including a few new tracks/outtakes.

2 - Outakes from the Vault (1978-2013) (Original versions only NOT like "Extralovable 2011")

3 - New songs ("Screwdriver" rocks !)

4 - Acoustic outakes or acoustic versions of released songs

5 - Complete unreleased projets from back in the days (Such as "The Flesh", "The Dawn", 3121 movie, etc...)

Well an album would be great.

There's something special about sitting down and listening to a record all the way through for the first time and then playing it a second time to really get into it. And then on the third go replaying and replaying a couple of little gems that you're just so happy to have discovered.

But seeing as that's not going to happen some pro-shot concerts would be nice.

I don't do physical anymore unless there's no other alternative (then i'll rip the CD/DVD to digital anyway).

I don't mind mp3.

I'm definitely an album person. I'll buy individual songs anyway but I'd enjoy it much more if they were compiled into albums.

As for the price i'm cool with any reasonable price, but I don't want to pay 77 bucks for 6 exclusive songs ever again.

I also agree with you. I felt makin this thread was fucked up because at this point in time, Prince ALREADY knows what the fans want. We have been screaming about it for 10 years now and it isnt like jermey j7 etc doesnt already know.

I mean all these bullshit games in 2013 is fucking insulting...especially since all the sensible and or reasonable requests that have been around probably wont even come to fruition. They haven't already.

I mean its time for stopping the nonsense and time to SHOW AND PROVE..god damn!

Thats what Im a bit pissed off about. The "hey guys ..let us know.." bullshit. Seeing that Princes response to j7 regarding "the fans wanting dvds " as "they can come to the Park to watch them" is the crux of EVERYTHING. Its THAT ATTITUDE regarding dvds, remasters, and just overall product that gets to me. Everything else becomes moot. The off singles, 2013, third eye girl games. Because no matter what is going to be dangled on display, that attitude is what prevails for any portion of the project (s). I thought there was a momentum to being more accessible and with a more pleasant attitude. But it seems like an attitude of being ...stingy?

I used to bypass Imagos meme of "Prince hates his fans!?" but now Im actually thinking he has some point..because it seems like Prince does have sort of negative attitude to us. At the very least, the online fans. And trust me Im not just whining or complaiing. I think over th eyears I have been one of the most objective people here so please dont think Im simply complaining for no good reason. Because it seems like actually we are his driver and he's OUR screw..if ya catch my drift.

I do. We - fans in general - are a necesssary annoyance for him. If he had his way, he wouldn't need fans, online ones specifically, and he'd just get by on the adulation of peers, critics, and he musicians he inspired. But they don't pay the bills.

This is making me so sad. I want to believe him...I do. I haven't been around fansite(s) nearly as long as you guys to know much about how Prince interacts with his (online) fanbase. Maybe, he means well and just has too much on his plate at times. Even if he doesn't do anything else this year, he's already given us more freebies recently than we could have expected, right? I think he's trying to reach out to his fans, but we want it all right now..I'm guilty. Anyway, I'm excited about him opening up Paisley Park for concerts and the tour. Those two things are a definite (I think.) If anything else happens, it'll just be icing on the cake for me. I guess I just need to take a break from this place for a minute which seems to prolong the wait for something..anything...redirect my focus....

I refuse to believe he hates his fans!

Topic:

I'll buy just about anything music wise. I won't buy merchandise sold at concerts. I have never been into that...I don't care for Prince (or any celebrity) posters, clothing, jewelry, cologne etc. sort of thing...just the art itself.
