the mix is different, indeed. not sure if i like it more or less or just the same.

the 'original' seems to sound a little less dense, which i think fits the track

really well.

but then, i've only listened to this new mix twice, in what is no doubt a very

this slightly different mix sounds quite amazing.

at last. which also sounds very good, eventho it's an

Let's remember that historically, Prince has used the performance video format with a band on many songs where he was the sole performer on most, if not all instruments.

Those drums do sound a lot like Prince's drumming.

It's nice that it's available and in decent quality, but I'm not into the single market. I do love the song.

If Prince won't be releasing any physical EPs or albums, then I won't be buying.

Oh well... it's been a long, wonderful journey. Maybe he will release a physical body of work in the future...

you can get it on the purple music official website. it's a bit weird since they only

have the option to buy mp3.

but if you buy the mp3, and then you click the link you get in your mailbox, you

actually get the wav file instead of the mp3 file.

it seems like that's what everyone is experiencing so they probably just labeled

it wrong in the store as being an mp3 when in fact you get a wav file.

Yeah...I got the downloads just after the site launched, it's down now due 2 server stress which was 2 b expected. I wouldn't advise 2 wait with downloading these but in this case it's the wise choice 2 get it the right way l8er

how's the remix and Breakfast Can Wait? And what kind of files are they?

Screwdriver is a raw mix with more guitar than the studio one, sounds played live with some overdubs added later......like it!

Breakfast can wait is a really nice funky jam type of song....cool song^^

Pretty innocuous song, really with no memorable chorus to speak of. This is actually only a slight bit less dull and generic than RRLA. It reminds me of a less catchy Peach (which itself isn't a great song by any means).

I fucking love this song.

Really, you can't go wrong when you have a bridge like "I'm your driver, you're my screw." Ingenious.

I've always preferred Rock Prince - so I love the rock vibe and the guitar here.

I love the vocal delivery. I like the lyrics.

It's fun, it's bawdy and it engenders some kind of physical reaction in me that I can't explain. Really, really like.

Well I downloaded the 4 tracks from 3rdeyegirl.com

Screwdriver is a WAV and the other 3 are MP3s. There's also a wooshy sound when your enter the web site so I recorded that too - for completeness sake. Now they're in my iTunes library.

The songs are great, but I'm a bit peaved about the distortion. Serveral other orgers also raise this concern. Particularly rough on the bass end. I do hope the loudness wars are not going to creep into Prince's work now.

In order to hear the song - to see if I even like it - I have to pay for it. And if I don't like it, I've wasted a buck 77?

you do know they play samples of the songs on sites like itunes and amazon? why not try that?

me too! i'm having huge big fun with this. love signing on and seeing a clip i want to listen to and downloading it and poof! instant good times.

i did have to upgrade my browser to mozilla firefox in order to access the thirdeyegirl website on my home computer. for whatever reason, internet explorer wouldn't let me check out the website util i did that. but, whatever. fine by me.

and the price? 88 cents? perfect. 1.77? sure!

I'm not sure it's teaching up and comers much.

1. Prince is a veteran and renown artist who has a built-in fan base. He can release anything and Org will find out about it and support it. No up and comer will have that so releasing individual songs on a paid site won't be very effective for them. Who would pay for a novice's unheard music anyway?

2. MOst up and comers these days do better by releasing free albums/mixtapes and building an audience that later buys their official releases. And they see better profits from sending mixtapes/samples to television shows who might agree to feature their songs in an episode. MTV is particularly friendly to newbie music. I know a few who have had their songs featured on MTV and they say that is more lucrative than selling albums.

These days since people can hear and swap songs digitally, song sales aren't going to feed artists for long. Concerts and being featured in media, whether its film, TV, video games, etc. are better contemporary platforms.

Maybe Prince can learn from them. I would LOVE to see new Prince songs suddenly pop up in an HBO or Showtime series. (I'm sure 3rdeyegirl.com would be inundated with traffic then.)

To begin with i used an american torrent to get a decent copy and that tided me over till it went on sale and i thought it was well worth the 69p on amazon(never have i ever not gave prince money for his work as he is well worth every penney).The song itself was so upbeat and more like the prince of the mid ninties and it grew on me so much quicker.like the lyric video,purchased the live movie vid for $1.77 and im just glad to see more of his majesty after being 2 quiet over the last 2 years.cant wait for the live dvd either,or the further releases.Top Marks for it but the remix has got an even better sound if you seek it out.
