I have listened to Screwdriver about 10 times now and I think it's a really good tune. At first I thought it was one more along the lines of Peach and Guitar, which are good but not great to my taste.
I think Screwdriver is a better song. Not sure yet if I think it's truly great, time will tell, but as for now, I thoroughly enjoy it. | |

What makes people think what's in the 'vault' is any better than what he is releasing now days? How do we know that some of the new releases are from the 'vault'? I'm sooo tired of reading or hearing about this VAULT
I don't care what's in his closet it'snot going to add any extra time to our lives or gain us closer to God. If he has no desire to release it then deal with it, Don't worry about his 'legacy' because his 'legacy' isn't what God is going to look at nor his 'vault'.

Jam Of The Week: “Screwdriver” By PRINCE; Going For Radio Ads Next WeekOur Jam Of The Week is "Screwdriver" by PRINCE featuring Hannah Ford, Donna Grantis, and Ida Neilsen. The song will be going for ads on radio overseas as Purple Music will be distributing the single there.
Purple Music will let us know the release date and formats (picture disc) but advised it will be soon. Check out their fan page on Facebook.
"Screwdriver" debuted on PRINCE's new web site earlier this week with much fanfare. The web site 20PR1NC3.com debuted with an announcement by Billboard Magazine. It has been a busy month for the music legend as several songs and videos of his have been put out by a twitter account with the handle of 3rdEyeGirl including "Chapter & Verse" which is a sound board recording from PRINCE's 6 sold out shows at the Dakota Jazz Club in his hometown of Minnesota.
If January is any indication of what 2013 has in store for PRINCE (Pr1NC3) fans, then it is going to be BIG! Along with the new web site and the Billboard cover, PRINCE will be receiving the Icon Award at this Year's Billboard Awards May 19th and will be attending a tribute in his honor at Carnegie Hall in March which is being put together by Questlove of The Roots.
"Screwdriver" is a rock number that we cannot wait to hear live. It is great that it will be getting played on radio stations overseas and getting a release over there. Here is hoping that a US distributor will step up to the plate soon that would enable the song to get radio play and a proper release out here. Along with those hopes, why do I envision him going on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" soon and ripping this song to shreds right in front of Questlove? Oh well. A Doc can dream. I am guessing the song will eventually make it to iTunes as RnR Love Affair did...I hate to say it but if it doesnt show up there I probably won't get a copy. I simply don't buy physical copies of singles anymore. I totally LOVE the song but unless its on an album esp vinyl (!) I won't be buying a hard copy. A sign o the times I guess... |

Looks like the single has a February 4th release date - according to Purple Music's website. Empty your cache and google Purple Music if you don't see it at first - the homepage shows the video and states 'out february 4th - stay connected'
No details yet as to (any) additional content, formats, etc on the purple music website. However, the labels Facebook fan page states it'll be available through all known online retailers!!!
Be cool to have the full live rehearsals bundled in but my money's on Jamie Lewis remixes that you listen to once (if that). Another physical release suits me if that's what we get.

It's hard, yet soft. It's garage, yet the door's still open. It's a "screw", but there's no need for a sticker.
If you're old enough you get the double-entendre amplification from his former "Dirty Mind" persona served up with a wink as significant as his back catalogue. If not, it's all just "party toes" from his female backers, "purple bananas" and "de-elevators".
In theory perhaps it's also the more successful sister of the somewhat misfired irony -- at least to me -- of "Everybody Loves Me" from "20TEN". The playing off the relationship his music ("the driver") produces in his vast, diverse audience ("the screw"). Seems the more mannered, "I sincerely wanna f*ck the taste out of your mouth".
But it's the anti-cynicism "screw". If you don't enjoy it, "that's cool", could be just another "mistake up" (failed relationship/f*ck up). But if you're already here, you might as well "enjoy the view". [insert second huge wink]
