March 25, 1993 @ Radio City Music Hall (NYC)... Act I Tour

I had crappy nosebleed seats, but had the time of my life. boogie

I wasn't a Prince fan until 1987 when I was in college.

My roommates went to the Lovesexy Tour @ MSG in 1988, but my parents wouldn't give me the money to get a ticket. pout

I saw him live for the first time this year during the Welcome 2 Australia tour. It was one of the best and most happiest experiences that I've ever had.

The first night of the Nude Tour in Rotterdam, june 2 1990. What I remember most of it was that it rained all the time (it was an open air stadium).
The Diamonds & Pearls tour was much better. Since then... 23 concerts and counting. But I'm sure that is not an awful lot compared to some of the folks here.

7th July 1990 Cork for the Nude Tour.

Cork was approx 250km from where I was living at the time but I had a cousin studying in Cork who offered me a floor.

I had looked at the ticket and saw that gates opened at 4:00 and I wanted to be at the stadium for 4:00, but my cousin nor his friends had any plans to be there before 7:30 with the music due to start at 8:00.

Upon realising this I set off on my own and arrived there at 6:00ish pretty sure I'd be a mile from the stage. Once in the stadium I saw a huge space in and around the stage so I made my way there to be confronted by a barrier...my first encounter with a "Golden Circle " although not advertised as such.....first come first serve wasa the order of the day and the quota had been reached. The people within the circle were all asked to sit on the ground, thus giving the illusion of space up at the front...dangerous for those at the barriers as more and more people arrived.

This was the summer of 1990 and Irelands first time on the world stage for the World Cup and the country was one huge party looking forward to it's future, which was unfortuate for the first support act ...a band called Stocktons Wing who were practicle booed off the stage....the crowd had come for The Funk not some CeileShite.

Next victim was Mavis Staples, who thanks to the hype created by her guitarist "An American legend" had convinced the crowd that Prince was about to start early. But she wasn't Prince......and the crowd was disappointed!

Then It was Prince's turn....He rocked hard and fast, he danced and screamed...this was IT. The funk went on for 40mins when Prince slowed down the set...which didn't suit the Cork Audience "Who's Stage is This Anyway??"" said Prince during his Stop-Start version of Alphabet Street...which the Irish audience filling the gaps with the new Irish anthem of "Ole, Ole, Ole"

Overall the concert was good not great.....I was expecting somethig to rival the SoTT and Lovesexy Tours which of course it wasn't.

But it was my first Prince concert and so will always be treasured.

Since then I have seen Prince a total of 8 times.

It was a rise into Love with Prince, I was astonished by this man, his style, his sexiness, with those dark curly hair and the sensual lips..

The most extraordinary singer, man, I saw

He has threw some flowers, onto one specially he kisssed and threw it to me.

Good topic.

Mine was 1995 'Ultimate Live Experience'. I'd got into him around Diamonds and Pearls but never got a ticket till 1995. I understood there were going to be no hits, but cos I's been watching the Beautiful Experience a lot (taped on VHS from Sky One!) I was happy to have stuff like Days O Wild, Come etc.

Had the NPG supporting.

Favourite bit was 7, Prince on acoustic guitar with Mayte belly dancing, and I Love U In Me, which was a big surprise.

The only popular song played other than TMBGITW which had been his first No.1 in England the year before.

Seen him many times since, best being aftershow at the Hippodrome in 1998.

had the wembley gigs on bootleg and i think 28th was the best but maybe thats cos i attach my own memories to them. was there a wembley 88 gig that was anything other than stunning. i remember reading how the 25th was crammed with supermodels in the front couple of rows by prince's request.

yeah i'm getting old mate, but i'm in good company!! wink haha
