I liked reading the interviews in Rolling Stone from 85 and 90.
In some situations he's clearly not at ease, so those more intimate ones like Tavis Smiley are decent, though Tavis comes across as even weirder than Prince.
Oprah was disturbing, to watch these two people who'd just been through tragedy trying to smile and promote an album & sell the "greatest romance" to the world My Legacy

Hey, thanks! This was an interesting read. Prince is 2 cool. He has that way of saying things where you understand what he's talking about.... but then ya don't... (Tavis does seem like a weirdo..all up in Prince's grill like "Hmm... everything you say is just... LOVELY. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING AND I AGREE WITH IT ALL, YOUR PURPLE HIGHNESS.")

my favorites are the 1985 rolling stone interview and 2008 tavis smiley interview
also i like those silly playful interviews on jay leno, george lopez and where mel b interviewed him in palisey park
besides from that, i love hearing his voice in any interview, even if it gets weird

Try reading my post correctly before replying. I was saying how Prince doesn't really open up in interviews - that's his prerogative. But his personality comes across as less interesting than his music.
With him saying that his songs explain himself better than he does, it would be amazing if his song lyrics achieved depths comparable to the writings of a Shakespeare or Goethe. Also, I never mentioned any need for Prince to express opinions about said authors. They're poets/playwrights, not musicians. [Edited 12/19/12 7:56am] The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...
