P's cover versions at Coachella = restoring the faith!

OMG, have his versions of Come Together and Creep on constant play. Regardless of the fact that they are covers he totally owns these..how about the guitar solo in Come together..DAYUM!.

When he is on form he is simply in a league of his own. When I lay my hands on u is pretty amazing as well!.

If you've lost some faith go check this out...it may help!

I felt Creep was very unrehearsed in retrospect.

But I flipped when he did it.

I agree with funkyhead, Creep... great version imo...

I think I have an mp3 somewhere.

very enjoyable.

wasn't there a "dispute" in the press, between Prince and folks from Radiohead?

-- Radiohead was against that Prince (Universal?) took the videos down from YouTube?

Radiohead said something like it was their song after all - and not Prince's.

They, Radiohead had nothing against people watching those videos on YT.

(I am too lazy to look for the whole story, it might have been told here, somewhere...?)

^ yes and then RadioHead released a single called LotusFlower to piss off Prince

Then Christina Alguleria named her album LotusFlower and pissed them both off! lol

prince covering creep was perhaps one of the biggest missed opportunities of his career. to hear him sing the original lyric, which are some of the most self depracating and self loathing words to ever be in a top ten single, would've been incredible. his decision to change the lyric from the 1st person narrative shows how much he completely missed/can't identify with the point of the song.

just to hear him sing 'i want u to notice when i'm not around' and 'i wish i was special' would've been phenomenal, but for him to shift the dynamic until he's singing to someone 'beneath' him is beyond brutal, and as i said a missed opportunity.

musically it was pretty cool i suppose but it just doesn't matter when u're too shallow to identify with the alienation in that lyric.

How long ago was Coachella?

Why don't you mention something more recent?

hmmmm, i would but...have you heard the recent stuff!. Just kidding, the European aftershows I think in Holland [was that last year or 2010] were off the hook..amazing set lists and generally sounding inspired. The thing about Coachella is that he connected with a totally different crowd which must have been so satisfying as an artist.

I saw all of the 20ten main shows in Europe and some of the pre/aftershows.

I saw about half of the 2011 stuff.

So I know more or less what you mean.
