I have not listened to "It" in at least 10 years

Heck, maybe 15 years. Yeah, probably 15 years is closer to the truth.

But when I get back from supper, I'm going to put on the "Sign O' The Times" LP, slip on the Bose headphones, and crank that sucker up.

What a really good idea, to put on the Sign O' The Times LP vinyl!!

And nothing wrong with "It",

this song is great and have the nerve that is missing in Prince's songs today.

I love this song, the drum pattern is fantastic. heart

The only track, I am not especially crazy with on SOTT: is Slow Love.

(But even this song is far better than his recent stuff).

I burned a SOTT disc for the car the other day, great album. Had to drop one track for it to fit on an 80 minute disc. Easy choice, dropped the one track I've always hated and could never get in to, Housequake.

RIP sad

'It' rawks. I know it's often been way down on the list on SOTT voting polls here though.

Simple, claustrophobic, moody, and a great vocal performance.

This is a very underappreciated track. I hadn't listened to it, seriously, for a long time but when I finally revisited the song I gained a whole new set of ears for it. There's a humorous aspect to the song as it's so over the top about 'it'.

It's a track that, for me, will definitely stand the test of time.

Now that I think about it... was this the first big 'stacked vocal' funk track since When Doves Cry?

I love "It" headbang it's got a hard, pulsing beat...a very "dark",haunting sound that's really appealing. One of my Top 5 favorite songs on the album.

I could be guilty 4 my honesty....alright!

Yeah, dropping Housequake just seems so wrong. But what would I drop to fit it on a single disc? So hard to choose. Much as I like "It", that might be te one to go. Either that or Slow Love.

after hearing much of the 1986 outtakes that we have

U can put together 3-5 different albums that have a more similar feel

It, Big Tall Wall, Visions, Sign o the Times, Forever In My Life, Train (the Cross ICNTTPOYM -Koo Koo) and a few others have a very similar stripped feel thats a cool album

you only had to drop a few seconds. it's barely above 80mins. if you blen disc 1 and disc 2 smoothly you didn't have to drop a song. and especially not housequake.

Housequake/Moquake are both gooduns in my book. 1+1 was funky as fuck live too. Good eh, ol P and his versatility.

Everybody has the right to like certain songs. Slow Love is right behind "Arms of Orion" for WORST Prince slow jams seriously. IT is a unique song as Prince never has done ANYTHING else like it. I listened to it today in fact. My sole wish is that he was into 808 kicks at the time. The drums on my version sound very delicate. No bottom at all

Arghhhh! Slow Love's in a different league than Arms of Orion for me. 808s and 909s I'll agree with. Since we're chucking numbers about, I'd like to hear what he'd do with a 303.

Prince with 303 would be interesting actually. A fellow music maker I will assume?

Well, more of a baffled enthusiast with a ton of plug-ins but I've had my days. A couple of mates make a lot and take it seriously. One's had a contract for years but I don't like his cheesy abuse of Native Instruments plug-ins so the less said about him the better.

When I first heard Gett Off I'd been having a few years off the purple bus. I used to hope someone would take P clubbing and let him loose on the gear. Gett Off made me think maybe he'd woken up to some of it but well, we know where that went.

I'm sure he could make some gorgeous stuff mixing a few bits. I'd lock him in the park with an Oberheim, Jupiter 8, OPX Pro for some Lovesexy, a 303, an Emu-Morpheus (Cos I just loved to mess with em) 909, 808, sod it, give him the lot... And plug in that feckin guitar!

Edit: going mad on numbers.

Y'all get back to talking about "It"!

I guess it would help if I'd listened to "It" yet, but I keep forgetting. But I will listen to "It" tonight, I promise!
