It's called a difference of opinion. And the best thing is, you don't have to understand it, you just have to respect it.

Well you really don't have to do that either. But you kind of have to accept it and get over it.

meh u don't even have to do that .. sometimes lil kids like really bad music .. like justin beiber .. britney spears .. just cuz they have an opinion doesn't qualify the music as good by any means .. once their lil brains get exposed to real music they too see the embarrassing error of loving something that does not deserve such devotion ... and we as orgers have a right .. no .. a responsibility to educate those with really really really bad taste .. to say .. ya know what .. sure i guess you like this .. but do we really want our standard of art to be this low .. this mundane .. or do we as a people want our artists to represent something more genuine .. made with more care .. more inovation and at very least .. more effort. lets remember that prince didn't even release this record .. he had to give it away in newspapers in another country than the one he was born in .. a sure indication of how much prince cares to make good art for his fans .. it would be embarassing as a music fan or a prince fan to accept this drivel as anything other than prince taking a dump in the studio for a quick cash grab ... lets rate these songs one plop or two and Xcrement like laydown would fall in the liquid retreat category ..

Trevor,

Do you really think Prince cares about making music for "his fans"? A true artist composes because the soul, the muse, or a higher power, dictates, often without rhyme or reason, at least to human consciousness.

Spirit,

do you really think prince made laydown for himself .. like some deep emotional purging that noone else understands .. or did he make it for a quick cash grab .. and do you really consider it the work of a true artist .. or a guy looking to make a football comercial with it .. a song like 'solo' seems more the work of an artist making a personal piece .. 2010 um no .. not the work of a true artist .. u can't use that excuse anymore .. fake prince stole real prince body and he's milking prince fans for all they are worth .. so who the hell was "musicology" written for .. did prince want to remember his own favorite bands so he put them in a song for himself .. or how about 3121 .. did prince want to remember the name of his new club he wants people to attend so he wrote himself a lil ditty or was that just a jingle for his FANS to lure them in .. i say jingle .. prince hasn't put out anything personal or with personality in a long time .. i wont say how long .. i will let you guess .. it starts with a D and ends with ecades .. prince muse is the fareakin dictionary .. lets muse out some songs that start with X .. sad but true .. and not even so strange or beautiful

ugh .. you might as well cite horny pony .. i WISH he kept that one to himself .. and all his other rap songs .. no he wrote that and all the other rap songs to cash in on a trend .. and he wasn't good at it and it killed his legendary status .. no that wasn't prince who wrote that .. it was fake sell out prince .. his muse was MONEY .. some cute lyrics but some really really really really really really bad ones too .. the poet died and badrapper prince was born .. gone was artistry in lyrics replaced by jokey overstuffed same ole beat hip hop wanna be whateva ..

Prince has made some really bad tracks in his career.

But 20ten was a new low. I have yet to meet anyone in person who liked the album or even one of the songs

You've actually met someone in person that's even heard OF it, let alone heard it? lol

Wow, that in itself is an accomplishment.

The ONLY thing from there I listen to is "Beginning Endlessly", and when I do I have to listen to it like a dozen times in a row before I can put on something else, it's some kinda weird compulsive bullshit where I can't play it just once.

Those people no longer consider me a friend sad

These people were never your friends to start with: real friends would not break up a friendship over a bad CD!

Q: why did you give people copies of an album that you don't like?

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I have to say that even though I don't consider 20ten a great album, I really think that is better than 3121, I hate Lolita so much! I know that should be a new thread! biggrin

I used to always skip "Lolita", so I'll agree with you on that but it isn't so bad it sinks the whole album. The songs on there that are good, are so good that they pretty much make up for the crap - "The Dance", "Incense and Candles", "Black Sweat", "Fury".

Those songs alone make 3121 way better than 20Ten imo.

No, he was never their friend to begin with. Real friends don't force bad Prince albums on each other! lol
