Well we could be getting nothing at all so appreciate what comes hell...the only big artist we have doing anything like this in the funk / r&b industry... he could be quiet and / or putting out music like Tank or Anthony Hamilton and he is not.

Sounds okay to me. It's a rehearsal, not a live performance, so yeah, it sounds a little flat. But I kind of like the fat lazy grooves of 97-98, and that's what it sounds like to me. Days of Wild done Emanicipation-style.

Honestly I always thought Days of Wild was way over-rated, though, so this is not much less exciting than the original.

I agree. D'angelo is really on the cutting edge in terms of musicianship right now. 10 years ago, Prince had arguable hsi greatest live backing band with Rhonda, Maceo, Renato, Candy, John and Greg and 2 years later with the Musicology band. I'm sick of the backup vocalists. I would keep the instrumenalists, but I wish Prince would get off his anti-itunes kick and release an album. He can release it himself.

But to be fair, Prince has been making great music for 34 years and since D'Angelo is the soul version of Bill Walton; Walton played a couple years in the league and took the rest of his career off. Same thing with D, D'Angelo took 12 years off, so he should be kicking ass live.

Why do so many orgers keep following this particular line up of the NPG when they clearly don't care for anything that they do?

remember when rumors got started that the band quit because they hadn't gotten paid from LiveNation when they we're doing the 21 nights here @ The Forum. News spread like wildfire. So many fans here seem so happy about it. think the current npg serves its purpose. even like them better then the line up with Josh & Cora. Prince has so many haters here. They don't even like his band,back up singers,His current protege Andy. He can't seem 2 do anything right here..To me he seems the happiest ever seen him in decades & Shelby is part of it.....

So this current line up is the only band in the musical universe to follow right now. For people who don't like the backup singers, the style in which the entire band plays, the rehearsals, the concert setlists, the way they drop stuff on the internet, the Andy Allo promotion wouldn't it be easier to check out another act until Prince does his usual staff shuffle? Or is leaving a second of whatever Prince does to pass by unchecked totally unfathomable?

belive me when i tell u i am not up prince's ass with anything anymore. whether its the latest tour rehearsal or whatever i am not all that vested cause i hear other music that is making me remmber what real music was like. 4 some reason on this site, the prince kool aids get all bent out of shape that anyone expresses a disike of anything prince does. sorry this rehearsal and every single rehearsal thats been released of late just flat out sucks 2 me and lacking that UMPH ..days of wild is my number one favorite song of all time by prince and this version sucks ass ..so i said it big deal. those that like it that's their perogrative. so will i check out what prince is doing always but will i spend my money 2 go 2 the next concert in a arena setting? HELL NO cause of reasons i've stated 2 many times already.

This current line-up of the NPG has been touring since 2010(correct me if it was earlier). I have read countless posts by the same orgers repeating the same gripes with this band and their performances from the NYC/NJ shows, the Carolinas shows, the California shows, the Forum run, the Canada shows and the Australia shows. Also equally repetitive posts about the rehearsal jams they've released, the bad reviews of the Andy Allo snippets we've been given, the reworking of Extraloveable, the negative reviews of the back up singers, et cetera, et cetera. So my asking why someone would continue to follow this current line-up has nothing to do with their opinion and everything to do with what they are hoping to get out of following a band that has repeatedly disappointed them so much. I think this rehearsal is fine but it's not something I'd play over and over again(which I said in an earlier post) but then I haven't been saying this band or their performances suck for the past 2 years!

No, it doesn't necessarily go hand to hand. Bands and/or their members come and go, but you're following the actual artist.
