Prince on British tv I haven't read much about prince on British tv and was wondering if he has done any tv interviews there with parky or Jonathan Ross or anything like that? I found get wild on top of the pops with Mayte, which was a real trip down memory lane! Loved it apart from the stupid scarf ! Apart from the award shows is there any other essential viewing of Prince in Britain?

as far as i'm aware prince has never done an interview in the uk which is a huge shame, our chat hosts are great fun... an interview & jam would be really supercool with jools holland, but i heard that there was some kinda friction between them/bitching words/offended feelings?
there was a sweet performance on 'the white room' in 1995, during his tora phase.. i think he performed the greatest romance ever sold on totp & looked like mystic meg
the brit awards 2006 is a very cool watch

What a shame about him and Jules holland, that show would b ideal ad it's all about he music and not gossipy! On the other hand graham norton would b pretty funny..

Isn't there an interview on The White Room where he's Tora Tora and Mayte answers all the questions?

It's cringe worthy! 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

The UK television show in which Prince has been 'interviewed' that Milty refers to above was not Channel 4's, The White Room. (on which he performed)
He was interviewed at Wembley Arena, London by Veronica Webb for BBC's The Sunday Show on 5 March, 1995.
It was broadcast by the BBC on 12 March 1995.
Prince was dressed as Tora Tora and accompanied by the rest of the NPG. Webb asked the questions, and Prince whispered responses to Mayte, who provided them.
A further broadcast on 1 April, 1995 (a special edition of The Sunday Show) included previously unaired footage from the same 'interview',

The interview where mayte answers was on - I think it was called the Sunday show. I was so excited by it then felt really let down. It was bbc2 one, might've had lee and herring on it. Scared Spice did an interview for C4 but that took place at paisley, and she isn't exactly pulling up trees with her intellect, u wish bo selectah would do that interview. Ooooh yer bastard yer! Comin str8 outta Preston...

Tora Tora interviewed on The Sunday Show on the BBC approx March 1995. I have a feeling he was interviewed by Cat Deeley on SMTV (music/kids programme) in 1999 to promote Rave. And then the Beautiful Strange interview initially shown on channel 4 in 1998.

On 20 October, 1998, BB2 broadcast a 'documentary' as part of O-Zone, which included the video for Come On, and a short interview. This had been filmed on 20 August when Prince was accompanied by the NPG and Larry Graham.

Channel 4 broadcast a special evening devoted to Prince starting on 24 October, 1998. The evening included an edited version of the interview conducted by Mel B at Paisley Park studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota, and which was subsequently released on the video, Beautiful Strange.

Cat Deeley has interviewed Prince:

but I do not have broadcast details. (As indicated above, it is likely to have been for SM:TV). ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I seem to remember also a TV interview with one of our radio DJ's, might have been Kevin Greening, which I think was around the NPS. It stood out because he asked if anyone ever said no to him or suggested things might be substandard. RIP

You are correct sir. That's the O-Zone one mentioned above.
I think they only ever showed a very small part of the Cat Deeley one on SM:TV (I seem to recall it was shown during the later CDUK chart rundown portion of the show) Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I saw that. It was during the Rave era...Cat Deeley asks him, concerning the name change..."so who do i tell my mum i interviewed today"? Prince........."a new friend" Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Who/ what is Tora Tora? Sorry,I'm new to a lot of this!

Tora Tora was just a temporary alter ego of Prince to make a point/get around his whole namechange dispute with WB in 1995.
If you see pics of Prince around this time (especially during the NPG Exodus album promotion and videos) with a hat and net scarf across his face ...that's Tora Tora (words taken from a Japanese battle cry I think) Just somewhere in the middle,

So that's why he's wearing a stupid scarf over his mouth while performing on top of the pops! Yet they still announced him as prince lol! I love him but he has done some silly things! Lol!

The "Tora Tora" phase was great, yes he looked like a fanny and everyone and their gran knew it was Prince, but it was Prince at his stupidly bonkers best.

That's Prince for you! He wasn't really trying to hide his involvement, it's just part of the fun. That and TOTP wanted the kudos of announcing Prince rather than just some random backing band.

I remember watching the Sunday Show interview the morning after a house party and a girl asked me did I really think that was Prince. I said yes its definitely him but I was a bit at the question. I guess if you only knew his image from videos and hits (last of which at that point would have been D&P era and TMBGITW) it could have been anyone. Just somewhere in the middle,
