On 20 October, 1998, BB2 broadcast a 'documentary' as part of O-Zone, which included the video for Come On, and a short interview. This had been filmed on 20 August when Prince was accompanied by the NPG and Larry Graham.

(Source: The Vault)

Remember that one I think, it was a 30 min show I have it on VHS somewhere.

Interview with Kevin Greening, plus the Come On vid with the busking, and few other clips of video.

Kevin (RIP) was one of the few interviewers to ask Prince if he thought his new album was substandard..he also mispronounced Mayte, (using similar sounding Matey bubblebath) which didn't go down well. biggrin

for the record I really liked NPS and Kevin Greening was a cool guy. wildsign

It's probably not worth it, considering the lack of it and that what does existst already circulates in decent enough quality.

I have now tracked down the Cat Deeley interview. It lasts approximately 2 minutes and was recorded and broadcast in November, 1999 (Prince was in England, where it was most likely recorded, on 15 November and again from 18-21) to promote the release of 'Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic'.

It was broadcast on the show, 'CD:UK', the spin-off programme to SMTV Live, and which Cat Deeley presented from 1998-2005.

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Prince was dressed as Tora Tora and accompanied by the rest of the NPG. Webb asked the questions, and Prince whispered responses to Mayte, who provided them.

A further broadcast on 1 April, 1995 (a special edition of The Sunday Show) included previously unaired footage from the same 'interview',

(Source: The Vault)

This interview is the reason people think I'm insane for loving Prince. Makes me shudder at how weird he comes across in this interview.lol

It's Jools not Jules Holland. It's a shame he won't appear on his show as he's probably one of the last musicians not to. I mean seriously if you are really into music, and I mean REALLY into music, then Jool's showcases some incredible acts from almost every genre. The show catapults newcomers into the spotlight which is always a great thing.

For a nice list of acts who've appeared on each show click on the link...

Later... with Jools Holland

Just wondering... does any one else have a show that captures so many varied acts like this one or are we just really lucky?

I spent half my childhood in England, and half in Mexico, and once saw a great mexican band on Jools Holland, I couldn't believe it! So many talents from the most obscure and unheard of, To the very famous! It's an incredible show! I wonder what happened between him and Prince?

It used to be a great show. The last few years have seen it become a bit more predictable than it was. He still introduces the occasional surprise though.

Myself and Annabelle saw Jools' two years ago at Eastnor Castle. Alison Moyet was guesting but it was Ruby Turner (Culture Club) who really had the amazing voice. Sensational.

at least he's ditched acts like the lithuanian national nasal flute band or some boy that stands on his head whilst chanting and playing with rubber bands on a shoe box, whilst we could have got another song by paul weller or radiohead instead

The thing about 'Later...with Jools Holland' is that its a such a shame Prince hasn't been on this as it encompasses that whole 'real music for real music lovers' ideal, and no doubt, he would have had the whole show to himself just like Stevie did a some years ago. As for the show itself, in this day age when the likes of MTV doesn't even showing any music, its still the best music programme in the world, well, depending on whose on, of course. However, its not perfect; despite his musical knowledge, Mr Holland's chit-chat can be inane and predictable at times, and it does kind of bug me that its always some plodding, non-descript Brit Pop/ Rock act that opens and closes the show. confused
