Anyways, how would the rest of yall make a video for 17 Days? Back then not of now. "Climb in my fur."

You know what?
I've always thought about holding little "contests" where we actually shoot videos to P songs that dont have videos.
but i know alot of people dont have time or interest in that. Ive always wanted to do a video for MOVIE STAR.
shiiiiiit if i could find a cool buddy down here and do these ideas i have in my head id do 'em.
why not. | |

Yeah, I've seen some cool videos created by fans of "the Beatles" Even a montage of pics can be cool if done right.
Would be cool if we got all the Uptown mags in pdf format on a dvd. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Wow, 17 Days deserves a tight solid video.
The thing about 17 Days, is it paints this more personal picture of Prince alone and being down, and smoking cigarettes!!!
That would be a trip to see Prince smoking.
I'd start with that cigerette image... what does he do... walk to a convenience store? This would have been the whole Purple Rain motorcycle time period.
This was also the time period of him lying around in a bathtub.
Bathtub, motorcycle, cigarettes, swirly cigarette smoke...
In a way I can completely imagine how this video could have been shot on the same days as the When Doves Cry video stuff that's not directly from the movie.
I could see this as a 1984 era video with the camera tracking past the band through a doorway for the intro of the song, going form some studio space to Prince's fog machine bathroom with him smoking a cigarette in the tub.
That alley set with the fire escape fits too.
I always thought this song sounded like a bridge between 1999 and Purple Rain, so it might have that retro tube video camera look too.
You could see how they might dissolve in pages of a calendar flipping since 80's videos sometimes literally showed the lyrics of the song.
But this is all brainstorming off the idea of what would this video look like had it been made at the time in 1983-4.
It probably was made at the time and shelved!
If the video were to be made now, with no regard for nostalgia, that opens up a really vast creative posibility. I'm not sure. you have asked a difficult question. what would you want to see?
I got to go back to work on my film thing I'm working on... here's a frame: [img:$uid]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/ufoclub/Screenshot2012-06-15at103701PM.png[/img:$uid]
Maybe Prince could be on my set above (all alone) singing the song for a shot or two. With fog. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Ehhhhh.......
well...it was going to be quite literal. I mean, its a very visual song. I was gonna shoot it in a jerky , animated style. P in his lemon colored suit he wore during the parade tour. nice

My Idea for SOMETHING IN THE WATER (DOES NOT COMPUTE) is more concrete.
Loft type setting. Blue-ish tint. Basically he sees his exgirlfriend through his window, downstairs getting out of another mans car. P is singing painfully as he watches them go up the stairs and into the building. The girl lives right next door. He keeps spying on them as he sings. He cant takes it anymore. Suddenly he bolts out of the door and stares into her keyhole (lol) He's even more pained at what he sees. He lets out that scream. EVERYHTHING turns into slow motion. The scream creates such power and blows the door open. the new boyfriend Flies into the wall. furniture, flowers, pictures goes flying. Girlfriend is holding on for her life. He continutes screaming. Glass breaks. Water bursts. Destruction. An old picture she has of prince and her together lands right in front of her. she picks it up. ( Why and gods name do youw anna make me cry?) She looks up and sees prince walk off in the hallway, in slow mo of course.

The line about cigarettes is in there because Wendy and Lisa had a hand in the writting of the song. Their contributions were not limited strictly to the music.

Not to mention the song was at one point intended for a smoking female to sing.

Meant for Brenda to sing.

Every time I hear All My Dreams, it reminds me of a Busby Berkeley movie. Turn the sound off on this video and play All My Dreams - you'll see what I mean...

The first second I heard Illusion Coma Pump & Circumstance I instantly saw a digitally animated video...not flat animation, but dimensional animation along the lines if an early Pixar film. Cartoonish animation, not realistic animation. Just acting out the actions described in the song as its fairly detailed. Some thematic color scheme shifts for each verse, going to a common one for the chorus. Each character is their own, with a Prince character in a position that can view and react to the activities, unseen or unnoticed.
My Medallion I always saw children dressed as, and acting out adult characters, as most of the activities in the sing r quite childish. [Edited 6/18/12 13:47pm]

That's kind what I see for Bob George but with flat animatin like an old Chuck Jones cartoon. I've had the Bob George video in my head for a long time now.
I had a set concept for a Le Grind video in my mind but then Lenny Kravitz totally did something like I was imagining for his "Are You Gonna Go My Way" video. That was close to my imagined Le Grind environment/set the dancing would be funky. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I think this Busby Berkley idea is also where he went with the remake audio style of Tick Tick Bang. But it would have to vivid color/smoke machine and of course updated in costume to crazy Prince fashions.
In a sense they did this in parts of "Batdance" My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
