BTW, I'm pretty sure that JoeTyler and Skywalker are the same person.

And btw, I didn't watch RotS all the way through nor did I watch AotC all the way through, I caught glimpses of them flipping around the TV, and saw more then enough (Yoda saying "Around the survivors, a perimeter create" ha ha ha ha Lucas lost his mind)

Well, at least you really took the time to form a valid critique of the films.

And the reason that Episodes 1-3 made more then previous star wars films has to do with the fact that the price of a movie ticket in 1977 was about $2.35, not to mention international movie sales weren't even close to what they are now. Adjusted for inflation Episodes 1-3 don't even BEGIN to scratch the surface of the original trilogy, and you either A) already know this and are trying to pad your argument with misleading statistics, or B) actually can't figure something like this out and are genuinely reatarded (which would not be surprising given your praise of Episode1-3)

Adjusted for inflation The Phantom Menace made is only behind Return of the Jedi on the list. Adjusted for inflation, no movies have made as much as the original Star Wars...except for Gone with The Wind. Give it up. The prequels made money. That's not an indication of quality, but look at the list of the top earners of all time. They are on the list. It refutes your claim that no one saw the films repeatedly or at all.

The way I figure it, on the strength of the original star wars movie, Lucas got to make 2 huge sequels. Had Lucas first produced episode one, there would NOT have been a sequel and anyone with a set of eyes knows it. You know you're in trouble when The Knights of the Old Republic video game has a better plot then Ep 1-3.

And btw, I DIDN'T

How do you know the plot of a Star Wars video game is better than two movies you "haven't seen" all of. C'mon you are wearing a Star Wars t-shirt right now. Aren't you?

That's bullshit. Ep 1-3 haven't made nearly as much as the original 3. it's right there on Wikipedia. And the plots to those movies were well known on the internet WAY before they were released, also, you don't need to see Scary Movie 4 to know it's a piece of ass. You can watch 5 minutes and know for yourself.

The prequels have already made half of what the original trilogy did, with 20 years and various re-releases to come to close the gap.

The Phantom Menace just overtook The Dark Knight as the 10th biggest film of all time.

I prefer the originals, but facts are facts, every sub 20 year old prefers the prequels. Just like we were sub 20 year olds when the originals were about.

I agree the CGI was way too much in the prequels, but that doesn't ruin the escapism and enjoyment for me. I love them in this order.

1. The Empire Strikes Back

2. Revenge of the Sith

3. A New hope

4. Attack of the clones

5. Return of the jedi

6. The phantom menace

Unusual then. My twin 7 year olds and every one of there mates (and my fiends kids too) actually think The Phantom Menace is the best film.

To me its the weakest, but, there is no doubt George designed 1 and 4 to capture kids attention, and carried it out to maximum effect.

Yes indeed. I work with an ass load of kids, and I hear what they're saying about which movies.

To be honest, the kids who are sort of stupid (love to hear themselves talk, drink lots of mountain dew, drown their hotdogs in WAY too much ketchup) are always the ones who love phantom menace, they kids who excell in school and sports usually perfer the Original Trilogy, sort of speaks for itself.

Wait, you just did a showing of hands? I am a teacher too. Where do you work that you can angry post at prince.org during class time? smile

Furthermore, I wasn't aware that your class (ages 3 to 15?) was THE ONE TRUE sample in the world as to what Star Wars movies kids prefer. Most kids I know like "the new ones". Or the Clone Wars cartoon.

BTW, how old are you?

Lastly, go to boxofficemojo.com for the real deal on all box office stats. Wikipedia is wikipedia sometimes reliable, sometimes bullshit.

Nice. People, in this case kids, who agree with you are smart and the ones that don't share your opinion are stupid or "border line retarded". That's fun for everyone.

Hey [Name calling snip - luv4u], I call em like I see em. I don't say a kid is dumb cause he doesn't agree with me, I say he's dumb cause he's 9 years old and can't figure out how to use the pointy end of the straw to stab the capri sun drink package by himself. When a kid is 8 and can't tie his own shoes or ride his bike without training wheels, he's stupid, that's that. Every coke bottle can't have a winning cap and every kid can't be a mental giant.

As a rule of thumb, the kids in my class who are stupid are the ones who like phantom menace, the ones who are more crafty, are the ones who like han fucking solo. BAM!

I'm sorry, am I supposed to say that every child is a magical light who's going to blossom into a figure skater or a genius? Give me a break. Some of these kids will never amount to Taco Bell material. It's 50% the fault of stupid TV ads telling the kids "There's only ONE YOU" and "It's YOUR game!" The other half is retarded parents who tell their kids how special they are but never push their kids to do anything,

Then the kid turns 22 and they go into a job interview and they're under the impression there's only ONE them. The only problem is there are 15 other applicants for the job, and they have a shitty attitude and a bad work ethic, and then they wonder why they aren't getting a high paying job at a place like google or facebook. The only thing worse then stupid kids are their stupid parents who think they're gods gift to the world and push talented kids out of the way so their tard can get more game time or whatever.

Anyway, it's usually THOSE kids who love Phantom Menace. Also, it's funny how the kids that DO like Ep 1-3 usually decide the real trilogy is better right around the time they turn 14 or 15 (ie the age you actually develop taste for things that don't suck)

smile Taste in my ass? What? I think you misused the euphemism.

I didn't say that Revenge of the Sith is better than Empire Strikes Back. I just like it better. As you know, there is no way to prove "better". Don't you have a fact vs opinion lesson at your school? What do you teach btw? You seem really hostile for an educator...I am talking Richard Vernon type of angry.

So what if you don't like The Prequels and I do? So what if they were huge box office hits that ushered in the digital age of movies and you don't like that, nor digital anything (including Avatar)?

You seem like one hostile person. My favorite was the rant about kids being too soft and stupid and "special" nowadays. What brought that on?

Woah, dude, didn't you say these guys were 8 or something? High school, I can understand by then kids have either "got it" or they haven't. But if they're at the age where they haven't seen Star Wars yet then the environment they are in is what moulds them.

And if that environment includes someone who thinks they should lower their expections to Taco Bell they probably will turn out as you've described.

Maybe you should try teaching them work ethic and life skills instead of showing them star wars films so you can bitch about it on the internet lol

Oh no, here comes Jagar, another one of Skywalkers fake screen names. Funny how Jagar only shows up on threads to help you out.

Anyway, I work with kids age 3 all the way to 17, so I see the SAME kids who were screw ups at 5 and are now 15 and can't do a thing to help themselves.

And I like the way you keep trying to shift the conversation away from your terrible taste in film, to me being hostel, while you're the one using name calling like 'Snob' out of no where.

I like the way that every time I bring up a valid point that blows one of your bullshit, half truth points to hell, you completely ignore it in your next post and instead try to correct my grammar.

Quit posting under fake names, do you really think you're fooling anyone?

Scary. Ask the mods to check it out if you think it's true. I assure you it's not.

I actually was arguing with JoeTyler earlier in the thread and you accused me of being him also. You got at least three others calling bullshit on you in this thread...they can't all be me.

I initially called midnight mover a snob. Not you.

Squirrelymeat shot your Prequel boxoffice/popularity claim to shit, not me. You stopped responding to him, but he was right: The takings say it all.

You rarely bring up valid points. You force and claim your opinion (or that of your students) as fact.

A valid point is not that you caught 4 minutes of a new Star Wars movie on TV and deemed it shit. Therefore the world deems it shit. All you have presented is a weak argument. It just adds up to ranting. Ranting about Star Wars, name calling, and sometimes about how youth is fucked.

You cannot seem to grasp that, despite your hatred for them, all of the prequels are some of the biggest office hits of all time (inflation or not). The Phantom Menace is one of the most successful movies of all time...you don't have to like it, it is true. Furthermore, they broke new ground in cinema in terms of special effects. Those movies were a boon to the digital era of film. Am I saying the originals were shit? No I love all the films.

Lastly, it's hostile. Not Hostel.

Dude, it's spell check for christ sake, I'm not wirting a dissertation here.

You keep talking about box office performance being a cornerstone of how much people love the prequel trilogy, read the following very closely, as I question if you are actually an educater or not.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...erformance

Look at the line that say 'Adjusted for inflation' and then notice how the original trilogy DOUBLED the amount of money pulled in by the prequels.

Despite the fact that a movie ticket costed $2.45 in 1977, A New Hope still almost out grossed PhanMen. With double the money spent on marketing they couldn't do half the god damned business with those crap a thons.

That's not enough for you, look at Rotten Tomatoes. The original Trilogy score a 90% on both the critical and audience ratings. The prequel trilogy score mostly in the 50's and 60's with the one area they could hang their hat on being the 80% recieved by RotS (however the audience gave it only a 64% was there a little pressure put on by Lucas Film? who's to say?)

And finally, the originally trilogy won 10 academy awards, while the prequel trilogy won ZERO (with all those special effects you were talking about, it's funny that no one in the industry seemed to agree with you).

So basically when you say that I'm alone in thinking that these movies are crap, you are ignoring a whole lot of evidence.

THE END
