I kinda like this one. I still feel that the background singers are a bit too overpowering. However, I still remember this is a rehearsal.

I think it's justified to be disappointed, considering all the hype and mystique this new jam has gotten. I think many assumed this could be a new song from a new album, only to be greated with yet another uninspired jam.

I think they have decent voices, but they are just too overpowering. I, too, had to turn down the volume in parts to deal with them.

Why? Because he's trying interject some sort of racial bias where it doesn't belong. It's not Shelby's skin color or looks that makes her ass annoying. It's the fact that she's practically singing lead because she's so damn overbearing and loud, on top of her usual hype-man wanna-be chants. And it's all on Prince for letting her do that shit for so long too.

Shit, back when Tony M was just as annoying (well, at least Shelby can sing), we only got him for about 3 years. Shelby's ass has BEEN worn out her welcome for many years now!!!

Mayte was Prince main dancer 4 over 3 years. never heard all this criticism over her. Like U people show toward Shelby. Prince even produced Mayte's album....All this hate & dis respectfulness U show toward her needs to stop. Obviously Prince doesn't care. Because he keeps putting her out front even more. So he obviously reads what U say about her.

Look at it this way, even if no one agrees, if Prince didn't want Shelby as part of his band, and wasn't comfortable with her talent, then I doubt he would have her there, and at this point, seeing how she's been a member of his band for this long, it is obvious he's content with her talent.

If the blurb on Funkenberry's site is true, then it kind of sours the whole thing for me. I just don't see the point in acting like a prat about things when he could have behaved himself and give the planet a Time/Family/Prince show. All it's missing is a Punk Of The Month chant.

This is where the problem lies.

What? Unselfishly allowing another artist to share the spotlight? Doesn't sound like a problem. He did the same with W&L when they were on stage with him in the past. That's how come their names are remembered among Prince's fan base. Besides, real talent lasts longer than a 'hot piece of ass'. Anyway, it's cool he's sharing snippets of the rehearsals with fans.

Just like the last rehearsal i find it half assed and only showcases how lame this band is. Bring me the Power Trio, that would be a rehearsal worth listening too.

where do i begin? okay let me start with knowing that by sending fdeluxe this first, i knew it was either high fashion or mutiny. with sending it to terry lewis, it obviously wasn't going 2 be anything on condensate. so what are we left with? we are teased by fukenshit that this is awesome, it's funky.

okay what copy does funkenberry have that we don't?

when one thinks of the song mutiny, there is a foot up the ass groove that is so missing in this rehearsal. having said that it's a rehearsal, it can be worked on. I hear the keyboards for Ice cream castles and there is NO BITE in them. Whether it's the keyboards he's using now or it's the notion of knowing and hearing what it was like before.

what i did like was the inclusion of the muhammed ali chant again but it had more bite previously.

the vocals - i do agree that shelby can sing however her vocals in this rehearsal need 2 be turned down during the verses. why is she singing the verses anyway?

and lastly, when someone is saying prince is bringing back the funk, 2 me, bringing back the funk means a new song that is funky not something the majority of us have been knowing for over 20 years.
