The amount of org members who have friended every single Prince protege and associated artist on Facebook speaks that these artists past and present are wanted. Now if it's not for their various talents then it points out that most of us are just a bunch of stalkers glomming onto anyone who can give us an insight into Prince. Andy Allo's 'likes' have more than doubled in her time with the NPG. Now everyone has had enough of her. So if nobody wants these people around then stop bigging them up on social media in hopes that you get a juicy tidbit from one of them.

Sadly, those friending Andy Allo and Shelby are just adding fuel to the fire. I've said a billion times I think Shelby is mad talented. I just don't want her screwing up a Prince concert. Andy doesn't seem to add anything. She's a cardboard cutout.

Could it be that some people enjoy Shelby despite what you or I think. Nobody outside of the Org really cares about this.

I typically "interview" diehards and casual fans after every concert. I have done this since 1997, when I used to submit reviews to the old Uptown website. In 1997, musician types did not like the heavy medleys of that tour, and many casual fans were turned off by it. I remember one casual fan saying "He did the James Brown song for 6 minutes, but some Prince classics were just 2."

On the Welcome 2 America Tour of North & South Carolina, I asked for opinions on the background singers, and most opinions were moderately positive to harshly negative. The karaoke sampler crap was probably the most laughed at segement.

Some of these people had never seen Prince, and were pretty happy, but a lot of people were sad that all the shows were less than 2 hours, and that Prince didn't seem to sing as much.

The Charlotte and Greenville shows were pretty good, and the bootlegs don't do the shows justice. Again, they were pretty good, not great, but not bad either.

bored (::Violins playing 'Cry me a friggin river....again':: ). Yeah but you complain all the time about any and everything when it comes to Prince's band, music, and the list goes on with you, so your complaint is just the same old, same old. Nothing new with you. lol At the end of the day, the one calling the shots for the band, is the one who will be making the decision as to who gets to perform in the band. So why are you knocking yourself out complaining about a situation, where you have no final say as to who gets chosen to perform in a particular musician's band? You either go to the show or you don't, if either is your personal decision. That's basically the bottom line.

[Edited 4/24/12 19:05pm]

Not True. I pick on his live performances from 2006-present. I praise The ONA tour of 2002, and the Musicology tour of 2004. Those were not perfect, but had some awesome moments. They both had at least 15, sometimes 20 or more great to awesome full length vocal performances from Prince each night.

I praise every single Prince album, with a few exceptions, and wish there were less of them, but huge box sets to release the stuff that shouldn't be on a major album release. (This way we still have a huge body of work to listen to). Still, I listen to 3121, Planet Earth, Lotus Flow3r(Not MPLSound or Elixer), 20Ten, The Rainbow Children, Rave.... a lot, and enjoy nearly every song on those....and with these recent albums, I am pretty happy and satisfied.

For someone to suggest that I hate every single thing about Prince has no idea how to read and comprehend my fairly simple to read posts. I'm not typing in cryptic messages. I do clown on Prince when he does things that look corny or sound stupid. I do clown on his touring band, and many of his decisions to not really sing...either by hiding behind background singers, or holding the microphone for fans to sing long stretches like he does in Kiss. If you paid $300 to see Prince, wouldn't you want to HEAR him sing Kiss?

There are usually 3 type of posters on here:

1. Overly Positive: Prince is perfect. Andy Allo and Tony M are legends. I love them all so much.

2. Overly Negative: Prince died in 1989, and everything about him afterwards stink.

3. Honest: The fans who like some things, and don't like others, and are honest about it. That takes a lot of guts around here. If you dare say you like any song on Planet Earth, Bart will tell you that you are a moron. If you dare say you don't like something, Tons of overly positive posters will complain that you are complaining too much. (That's really funny...usually the people that complain about the complainers don't have the sense to figure out that they are also complaining.)

So like it or not, I'm going to give my opinions, both positive and negative. I'll tell you when his guitar playing on "The Question of U" is epic, and I'll tell you when he is not willing to do the work on vocals...like on Mountains where he barely sings...the song sounds great, but I have to resort to 1986 bootlegs to hear Prince singing on it.

If you claim others can't comprehend what you've written, try and pay attention to what you read in their posts and don't accuse them of terms they never used. I said you 'complain' not 'hate'. Now why was it so difficult for you to understand something that was clearly stated?

Like I said, you complain to no end, so that's nothing new, lol and I doubt any of the band members you complain about, will lose sleep, stop living or breathing over your opinions of them. In the meantime, while you continue to stress out over some of them, Prince willl continue 'calling the shots', as to who will perform as part of his band, and how he wants the music presented.

So maybe one day, when you get all your complaints wrapped up in one big, giant box with a pretty bow, present it will bring you some luck and success, and then you will no longer have to be on an unofficial fansite, complaining and fantasizing about 'calling the shots' for a musician's band. Good luck with that though..I'm rooting for ya! thumbs up!biggrin

I kinda agree with you. I think Shelby(but also Andy...) should not get all the attention in PRINCE his show. I mean people pay to see Prince and not Shelby. I think it's annoying when Shelby and the other back up singers(Liv, Andy, etc) are performing the first 30 + minutes... this happened to me a couple of times last year when I went to 6 -Prince- shows. for example one show was 2 hours but first 30 minutes was Shelby and co. So I only got 90/80 minutes Prince. I payed a lot of money... and this didn't happen once, this happend with 3 concerts from the 6 concerts I've seen last year. Other 3 were the North Sea Jazz concerts, so you know... those were special. And yes, it's true. Prince gives legendary concerts -sometimes- but also one of the worst concerts ever. You never know what he is going to do. It can be cool, but also very annoying. Because you still pay a lot of money to see him every time. Some shows were the best ever, and some of the shows were the worst ever. Shelby is talented, I like her. But when I go to see Prince live in concert, I want to see PRINCE, entire show. Also the length of the shows are very different, then he does a 2 hour show, then he does a 80 minutes show, and then he does 3 hour show. Sometimes it's cool.... but sometimes it frustrating, because you pay a lot of money. It should be better if he had sort of standard every show, that he would do a 2,5 hour or 2 hour show, every show.I've seen quite a lot of artists in my life. I'm still very young, but I can my own option about music or concerts. No matter what, Prince will always be my favorite male artist, and after Madonna my most favorite artist of all time. But I don't like every little thing he does.

Anyway, I don't feel this jam. It's ok. I liked the Dance Electric jam more.

The amount of org members who have friended every single Prince protege and associated artist on Facebook speaks that these artists past and present are wanted. not everyone has facebook or twitter 2 follow these people so by having a "like" doesn't really give a measure of what a fanbase really feels or doesn't feel. in addition if someone marks a dislike, can't the originator of that page have the right 2 remove that motion? so there isn't a true accuracy on either side.

Well the group I went with to three shows included people who are musicians themselves and they loved it. I'm not sure how many people you interviewed but his Welcome 2 America tour continues to be a success despite how horrible many here make it out to be, so I simply believe that the masses outside of the Org don't care. I can only speak from my experience and people seemed to really enjoy themselves. People are not leaving miserable or mad. I guarantee if he were to do a US tour peopele will go crazy and buy tickets with Shelby and all.

I agree. Whether we like his new music or new band or not, Prince is going to do what he wants to do and despite the gloom and doom people make Prince's career out to be, there is no evidence that this man has anything to worry about. I wish at 53 I can still do what he does. Some people will just complain forever.

Again, I'm not a fan of Shelby as a backup singer, but I still enjoy the show. I don't get that she's taking over feeling that some people perceive.

Exactly, we were both at the W2A shows in NYC, and you attended both the NJ and some of the NYC shows. The shows were fun, good audience participation. I loved when the audience was on the floor doing the electric slide at one of December shows. It was like watching a sea of people having a good time. I thought that was awesome. That just goes to show the 'party vibe' Prince and the NPG brought to the MSG venue, and I sure miss those shows. That was around the time the East Coast got major snow we hadn't seen in a while, and just knowing Prince and the NPG was there, and lifted some spirits, made the whole thing so worthwhile and fun!biggrin Out of the 4 NYC W2A shows, I attended 3, because I couldn't make one, due to earlier plans I had on that day.

I didn't read the 14 pages leading up to this so please forgive me if I don't join in the conversation of posts above this but I really enjoyed that rehearsal. An interesting mix of the 2 songs. I have always been a fan of the song "Ice cream castles". I used to play that on my boom box as the first song whenever my family would leave for a camping trip. A feel good summer song.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

That's what I'm saying!!! People here acting like audience members are leaving pissed but that is NOT what I experienced. I think its more wishful thinking from people. I'm dying for another Prince concert. I had a blast.

Exactly. All 3 nights I attended in NYC was a blast, especially the last show on 2/7/11. Loved it. Every night I left there, my legs and feet were killing me from dancing and just enjoying and getting into the vibe of the show, but it was good pain. lolI like when the crowd at MSG in NYC stomped for encores and we got them. Lots of fun and good memories.

See, there you go again. You just can't help but be an ass and be confrontational, can you Corkey?

My statement was directed towards the crappy keyboard sound, but you just HAD to wanna say something back to be an asshole.

And no one asks for anyone's opinions on here (especially yours), but I see we've got about 9 pages of them here. So, this is the place where they're given. Personal invitations aren't necessary. You are one of the MAIN reasons why these threads devolve into insult bickerfests, and I won't have any part of your juvenile, immature shit.

So if nobody wants these people around then stop bigging them up on social media in hopes that you get a juicy tidbit from one of them.

not everyone has facebook or twitter 2 follow these people so by having a "like" doesn't really give a measure of what a fanbase really feels or doesn't feel. in addition if someone marks a dislike, can't the originator of that page have the right 2 remove that motion? so there isn't a true accuracy on either side.

If you check out her page and look at the people posting on it you will see an abundance of Prince references in their names and profile pics. Those all took a jump when she joined the NPG. Personally I think they're mostly the stalker types I mentioned but only they know for sure. The fact is that she was at around 7000 when she joined the NPG and at close to 14000 the last time I looked at ther page for her snippets. Those people 'liked' hr page cause of the Prince connection because she was pushing any of her own work at the time only her link Prince and the Vault.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
