I like the Purple and Gold fight song. This song gets a lot of hate. But I believe it's unwarranted hate. People are judging it as a "Prince song" in the context of pop music made by a pop performer. It's a sports fight song! Have you heard fight songs before? They sound like this! And Prince did a pretty damn good job writing a strict fight song.

Well, consider your cherry popped because now you are going to hear about it. I think it is one of his worst songs ever. Terrible writing (caress the flower...), awful music... just the type of throw away song he would do in the studio just to warm up. Not inspired. Not clever. Just goofy and embarrassing, at least to me. Seriously, it is one of those he could write in his sleep. Girl is one of the only b-sides from that era that I can't even enjoy a little bit. It´s the songs lyrics, sung by Lisa and Wendy. As far as I know, they sing "Boy".

I noticed that it's generally uplifting, positive songs that Prince fans seem to dislike because they consider them to be 'cheesy'.

If people don't like It, I'm shocked. That's a hell of a dancy funky infectious song.

Free is not a highlight of the 1999 album, alright. But 1999 is a super high standard masterpiece. Free is a good song. It sounds like it was written in/for the summer of love.

I like Tempation, it's got a great humor, it's campy. I assume people that won't connect to that won't like it.

in fact Chaos and Lotus are my favorite two albums by Prince and I noticed most people hate these. I never really knew why people dont give these a chance. I LOVE THEM!

It should have been on the Come album as the last song because it would´ve been a perfect ending for that album. I know it was planned as such but for some reason, Prince changed his mind.

The way this song builds up, the heavy bass and drums (the NPG powerhouse Michael B. and Sonny), the way Prince sings the heartfelt lyrics make this song a true gem....such an underrated song that would´ve fit perfectly into the whole "Come" concept.

It is probably the only "bombastic" song that I like ( Three Chains of Gold and Planet Earth being the two other one....can´t stand them ) . But Strays of the World is pure magic.
