Well, consider your cherry popped because now you are going to hear about it. I think it is one of his worst songs ever. Terrible writing (caress the flower...), awful music... just the type of throw away song he would do in the studio just to warm up. Not inspired. Not clever. Just goofy and embarrassing, at least to me. Seriously, it is one of those he could write in his sleep. Girl is one of the only b-sides from that era that I can't even enjoy a little bit. Every fan is diffrent. I like The Time's version, and I don't like Prince's one.

I suppose dolphin is quite an unusual one to like I love it especially the guitar solo.

No one seems to like 77Beverly Park, I think it's fabulous!

I understand they're 2 different songs with the same title, aren't they? I love Prince's Girl, it's gorgeous!! I understand the lyrics are kind of banal, but I don't think he was willing to elaborate much on the lyrics of lusty songs like this. For example, the lyrics of Do me baby, stopping to think, are kind of banal too.

I don't really like The Time's Girl, it sounds like a soul ballad gone wrong and it's in the verge of being tacky.

I agree but they were in full force (not the gheri curls) when it dropped and in resuming years. I always read that it's lackluster. I liked it from jump: both the inital poppy npgmc version and then the completed meat n potatoes version.

I love the title track from Rave...no I mean I LOVE it. It's such a classic Prince song but I can't find ONE single person (fan or non-fan) who likes it, let alone love it.

I dont really hate any Prince song - just others I like more.

I have only been a big fan of Princes in the last few years (so a newbie to most here I guess) - but of course he has been in my life as I grew up (being just a bit younger than he is) his music has been in my life - but I never "followed" him as I do now with such enthusiasm.

I got into him when I heard Black Sweat - and then decided to visit his whole back catalogue and then was hooked for ever.

I love the following:

The Greatest Romance (such beautiful lyrics)

Dig U Better Dead (a great track to work out to on the treadmill - always makes me feel enthusiastic)

No More Candy for You (sounds awesome in the car blasting away)

Get on the Boat (smooth and funky - but you can get tired of it if you overplay it)

Black Sweat (smooth as.........and got me hooked onto his music)

but as I said, I dont hate any Prince song - just some I prefer more.

And..............it changes - you re-visit an old album you have on the shelf and find a gem there you may have missed.

Music is an evolving thing as is our taste which can change (and mature).

Me too - I was a big Madonna fan once - only got into Prince in the recent 2000s to be honest. Always liked him but did not follow him like I do now (music like fine wine matures you - you dont realise how good things are until you are a wee bit older) - but I loved LOVE SONG.

Although always sounds like a demo - but that is what I like - its rawness.

Read in a Maddy Bio once that she laid down her part, sent it to him and he did some of his part but they never really got together in a studio on it to really work on it or polish it - so it is very "demo like" - but I liked that whole Like a Prayer album & that song very much - shame her new albums since have been so crappy (she lost her edge really).

But Prince now rocks my world -so doesnt matter

I think he played guitar on that and had something to do with Keep It Together and Like a Prayer (the guitar in the beginning?). I am sure someone on here can confirm these and if there is anythig else.
