Why would other people be wasting their time at a Prince show because you don't like the clip? Especially when some may like it. Individual tastes ya know.

Now you've just proven your basically just trollin' here. Errant is one of Princes harshest critics.
BTW: I wouldn't be calling some fans asskissers etc with a fammy Prince screen name that you have.
Dont be mad at me it's just a suggestion!

Can we please stop with the whistle hate? I don't want to play the wind instrument card but Im beggining to think some of yall are whistlists. "Climb in my fur."

Its just a jam session and for those of you who don't understand the words......do you know what practice or warm up is? It will be tight by the first concert. Prince's Sarah

True. When an act begins to lack musical integrity, some people never notice, and some are just star-struck, and don't really care. That doesn't mean other people, who do notice, can't laugh at those who foolishly waste their money on an act that won't be bothered to actually learn the song before playing it for pay.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, because having a Prince-related screen name automatically means you're an ass kisser. Brilliant logic. If people aren't smart enough to realize the stupidity of that thought process, then that's their problem. And, I don't care about other people's problems.
And no, no trolling here. I gave my opinion on the song. Oh, I'm sorry. Only people who actually like it should post here. I didn't know...cuz any other opinion would be called trolling. Of course...why didn't I see it before??
But homeboy was originally the one with the unnecessary comment. And if he's so much a harsh critic, then he should be smart enough to know that not liking some of his output doesn't mean having "sand in your vagina".

Yeah, keep holding on to that hope.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah but you NEVER have anything nice or decent to say. That's impossible unless one is trolling. Seriously. And yes, Errant came at you first but when someone who is a staunch critic starts seeing things in ya..well....(Im just saying.)
but Alex (and having a screenname like that shows that some of yall were once askisser or fams but nevermind that ) please tell me this:...do you have an issue with the whistle (pleasepleaseplease say no- ) "Climb in my fur."

Blimey and I thought the permy-photo thread was mental.
err... Just logged on to say I like it.
Oh and so far a bootleg remix of Extraloveable and an acetate 12" stream of The Dance Electric have meant that Prince have dusted them off. This is a good thing.
Can I suggest that people start posting unreleased revolution era tracks on Andy & Shelby's fb walls..?
joking. blah blah blah | |

I had to fix your post above. Again, this is all about your opinion and your perspective which you are free to state. I just think its silly to impose your view of "musical integrity" upon others when they simply enjoy what you don't like. Just because you believe YOU will be wasting your money at a Prince concert or you notice whatever in a Prince track does not factually mean that all those folks going to a Prince concert is wasting their money. Some people here like the rehearsal because they simply like what they hear. Differences in tastes. that's all. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm looking forward to wasting my money when he comes in my neighborhood [Edited 4/17/12 10:43am]

You know you can't do that here!
Oh well, what they don't realise is we're all hoping Prince will blow us away one more time one day. I for one would love that. But sorry, it won't happen with this lame jam. Busy doin' something close to nothing

what bootleg remix? don't you mean the cover version by !!! ?

Prince doing FULL VOCALS LIVE? He does sometimes, but he's not willing to do the work. He's gotta have the girls singing for him, and whoever said the whistle sucked was giving this thing a compliment. Yes, it is good at the start, and really isn't that bad as a whole. It is just so annoying that a song that doesn't have many vocals in the first place to have them edited, and watered down.
I give this a B- for some effort, and the fact I didn't expect to hear this song in any incarnation again.

You should request a whistle jam for part of the sampler set! A jam with only whistles and sirens, and a sample of Shelby shouting 'remix'.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
and it should be released under the title 'The Dance Electric - Definitive Version'
and during the performance, Shelby should wave a huge flag that says, NO REFUNDS

That was an amazing rehearsal, I wish he played that when I've seen him. Wonderful synths I've heard in a while live. Might download it on my iPod whenever I get around to it.

Exactly!
The kind of talent that he has doesn't just up and permanently go away, so although with each passing year I lose more and more hope (as it stands between 1 and 100, my hope level's at about .25 ), I DO hope that he'll just blow my ears out one of these days. And also as you said, it ain't happenin' with this shit.
But hey, I don't mind being labeled a "hater". It just means I don't accept bullshit when it comes to his music.

No, I just liked the name from the first time I read it on the record. That doesn't require being an asskisser.
The whistle? No, I just have an issue with the whole thing.

His talent has always been there. It's his business decisions that were near perfect from 1978-1984, that have gone downhill. From 1985-present, he continues to do things that hurt his legacy. Some of the internet releases seemed like groundbreaking ideas, but much of that stuff was third rate material, and I don't know one person who got Crystal Ball before it was in stores. Releasing album after album saturated the market and along with Under The Cherry Moon, it killed his album sales. He easily could've had one major album release every 3-5 years, and put out huge 10 disc sets of outtakes so that all his material could be heard by the true Purple People. That at least would've kept his career on pace with U2, Madonna, and possibly MJ. (Yeah, I'm a Prince fan first, but MJ outsold Prince even when he had all the negative press.)
Sadly, his decisions on what band members to hire, what arrangements to play, and how much he actually sings full versions with full lyrics hurts his live legacy, and results in losing business. Since he is a legend, he will always have an audience, but I have left several shows talking to casual fans who said they wanted to see Prince sing Prince songs, not covers, or fans saying Doug E Fresh was on stage for 25 minutes taking away from time Prince could've been performing, or the weak medleys and band from 1997-2001.
Of course, what makes it so maddening for so many, is you go see him one show, and it's the best show you could possibly imagine, and then he goes through the motions the next time. ONA and Musicology were almost near perfect considering the awful decline he was in live. He deserves his overblown live reputation, but then when he puts on a weak show, it undermines the hard work he puts in on a tour when he cares.

For me it was a fun jam. I definitley would be disappointed if that was what it sounded like when I paid for it. But since I didn't I enjoyed it a few times! The whistles are fun for me personally (probably dates me...lol), but I do understand what people are saying. He is a great musicioan AND a great entertainer. Personally I could take him and a three peice band standing still and kicking my ass musically over the onstage theatrics at this point in hiis career. Of course I say that becaue I SAW him at that stage of his career many times over. I do sometimes feel like he goes by the numbers sometimes and would love to see a musician or producer shake him loose of the funk rust he has on his joints. But at this point Prince isn't that guy. He thinks he can unrust all by himself. Sadly that takes a lot of self dicipline, hard work and inner knowledge of motives and goals. I don't know for sure, but that doesn't sound like him. But I still had fun listening to the track

Bells & wistles aside it's just an ok run though. It's more representative of the lack of talent this band has. You can't compete with the NPGMC version from 88 with the live horns. The canned keyboards in place of the horns really take away from it imo. Give this the full live instrument treatment then maybe. Sadly I picture him & his tired background singers having a good old time thinking this is the shite. Andy's probably in the backgournd waiting for P to give her the que to let loose with a foghorn and some more doodles. [Edited 4/17/12 14:15pm] [Edited 4/17/12 14:17pm]

So...I guess Prince does love and listen to his fans afterall regardless of what Imago says
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
it's good to hear that prince is shaking off the rust, but he still needs a fking good oil up!! sorry, but this didn't do much 4 me.. very standard & nothing remarkable about it. maybe vocals might improve it a little & if prince performs in feathers, pearls & frills & tightest pants then it will improve even more

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME.
Can we please get a whole album like this? This one snippet is better than the entire first 76 tracks of the 20ten album.
If the vocals stick close to the original (or are somehow better) and are reasonably well sung, this would be the best song Prince has put out in years. (I actually like some of his recent stuff, but none of it touches this.)

I agree not that this is perfect, be not the point, what I like here is the rawness. I also like the majority of the new music but would not mind a very raw funky studio recording. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?
